Song skipping while using bluetooth - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

i am facing this issue that when i play songs using google play music or retro music ( if you want find it on play store) it skips a few second of music , i have tried different ear phone , head phones and speakers , this issue is only when playing with bluetooth connected devices.
Also i have a song app called savan , it is kindof like spotify+ and when i play songs with it , it works fine without any skipping.

It skips while music is playing?

when i change the track or press next track it skips a little part and starts playing

Hi, I know this thread is a bit older, but I just want to mention, that I have the same issue on a OP5T.
It happens on every music app I've tested - Shuttle, Google Play Music, Phonograph, BlackPlayer, Impulse, Retro Music, Eon, Pulsar.
But it only appears when I skip the song with the apps 'skip-song-button' and when Wifi is turned on.
That means with off-screen gestures or Wifi turned off it works as it should on my side, that's not a fix but a rather a bad workaround.

It is due to the devices not being completely compatible with bluetooth 5.0. Its hardware sided dont worry about it. Just wait for BT 5.0 devices such as this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...i-true-wireless-headphones-audio-technology#/

mine skipped the song with gestures as well !! and it doesn't matter if wifi was on or off ... but now after the oreo update it is working just fine ...maybe the other music player that i installed did some changes in the library to get gapless playback and when i upgraded the device the libraries got back to normal !

Songs skipping 2.3

Whether it's poweramp, default android music player or any other player my songs starts jerking and skipping and it sounds like pirated copy of cds. Anyone have the same issue as me? Any work around?
I can't report the same, 2nd day of having the GB update and no sound skipping so far. Do you have this issue with all mp3 files or just a few?
this happen to many ppl :/
I thought it was just me
Mine has the exact same skipin I just hv meridian player on mine
Hopin to see a fix soon
Yeah, it's been discussed in a few other threads. It seems to be a pretty common issue with this build of GB on the X10.
I get this issue with the stock, unrooted room and WB's rom with hotfix 005. The audio players I've tested this with so far are the following: SE music app, Google's music app, TuneIn Pro, Pandora. I'll try Winamp and poweramp later... a larger cache should help but it's a bandage on an underlying problem.
A few people have said that the problem goes away when connected via bluetooth.
If you mean the "lag" that occurs when you rotate your phone then yeap, that's there. I thought you meant that songs skip from 0:30 to let's say 0:40 randomly.
The entire song
And if am usin my bluetooth headset it skips for a second like streamin was poor
Then wired headset its so obvious

[Q] Google Music prematurely skipping to next song

When playing music via Google Music, sometimes the app skips to next song before the current one is done. Any idea why this is happening, and how to solve it?
My observations:
This happens during good internet connection (both on WiFi and 3G)
It happens to both "pinned" songs (cached) and the ones that are streamed. This happens even when the whole play queue is pinned (so there isn't a problem switching from cached song to streamed song)
All my music is via All Access subscription, so no songs are uploaded by myself (this eliminates the possibility of having a corrupt mp3 file)
After the music skips to next song, if I go back to the "problematic" song it plays fine to the end
This happens randomly to any song, and if a song skips once it doesn't mean it will skip again (this I find the most confusing)
Any help would be appreciated, this random skipping is frustrating!
P.S.: I have stock, rooted Nexus 4 running 4.3.

You could try to uninstall app or wipe the app data.
Are you using earphones or headphones?
Because it might matter.
I'm using Audeo PFE 112, so ones without any controls.
I've reinstalled Google Music, let's see if it helped..
Did you manage to get a solution to this? I've had the same problem on my N4 and previously my S3. I have noticed that it seems to happen when connected via Bluetooth. It seems to also be worse if I receive a notification, even if the notification sound is muted. if I use PowerAmp it's fine. In PowerAmp there are more options available to set the audio priority and buffer size. Could be down to that but obviously we don't have those options in the Play Music app.
I've got some more info that may be of use. It happens when I have an unread notification. It may not just be on Bluetooth as I don't read the notifications whilst driving obviously. This used to happen in PowerAmp when updating to Jellybean, however they fixed it. Makes no difference if notifications are on silent or if you swipe it from the notification bar, it has to be marked read.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4
I still have the problem. I will try to find out if it happens more when i get notifications and will report here..
This issue has been annoying the hell out of me for a few months now on my GNex on 4.3 (running AOSPA 3.99). Every time they push an update to the Play Music app I think "Finally!" assuming it will fix this issue, but no dice.
Mine is always on Bluetooth, and happens with streamed or pinned music. It will play whatever song I left it on when I last exited the player, completely, then the next song that comes up in the queue is the one that will skip after partially playing. I haven't timed it, but it's something like 20s or so. If I manually go back to the beginning of the track it skipped, it will play it completely to the end with no issues. I have found, from messing around with it, that if I proactively skip back/forward to another track manually before hitting "Play" it doesn't seem to happen. It's acting like when the player starts up, it "thinks" it received a "Next" button press via AVRCP and advances to the next song on its own.
Is that description consistent with what you guys are experiencing?

This latest Google Play Music app update (5.2.1224L) seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Did anyone else have this fixed? As of today, the songs still skip for no apparent reason. Its happened on my GS3 and Nexus 7 2013. Both rooted and unrooted.
Same Issue
I'm still having this problem using my nexus 5 and Nexus 10. Both are running Android 4.4.2 and app version 5.4.1413N.1048534.
I'm having the issue too. I was originally using power amp and thought it was that. But i went back to Google play and it's more prevelent there. I not only get songs that skip, i get songs that play with the wrong name( songs father down the playlist play ontop of another song name) or it adds sounds that arent supposed to be there. Ive even had a song playing in slowmotion. I used to never have this happen. Last time i did a transfer of music ( pc to phone) was almost a year ago.
I'm using the LG L90-4.4.2
I have the same problem on my head unit 4.2.2. Is it possible to force the PRIORITY for google music app?
Same skipping problem
I am having the issue quite a bit on my home wifi with sonos system playing through sonos app. Every 30 minutes or so, 2 or 3 songs in a row will play about 5 seconds and skip to the next. Really annoying when you actually like the song it is skipping. I'm using iPhones, iPads and windows computer with the sonos and it does it will all computer types. I am not hitting buttons inadvertently. Did anyone figure this one out?
I have the same problem on my ZTE Z820 Obsidian.
I have this problem, but not with this phone. I think it is related to some aspect of Google music. I am using BubbleUPnP to stream to a Raspberry Pi 3 running RuneAudio which has the Debian standard MPD player embedded in it. BubbleUPnP runs on 2 Android phones - Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (4.4.2) and Moto G5 (7.0).
When I stream from my own UPnP server, fine. When the streaming source is Google Play Music, I get these symptoms. No internet issues, no mobile data, just domestic broadband and ethernet/wifi LAN. Every 3 or 4 songs it just skips to the next track half way through a song. Maddening.
Hi guys, I have the same issue with my One Plus 5T. Did you find a solution?
thanks in advance
The problem went away, but I can't remember why. I think it may have been to do with the buffer in RuneAudio which was too small/big. Or maybe a new version of Play Music came along. Sorry.
Marmite.

Bluetooth issues

I have some really weird and annoying issues with bluetooth audio on my Note 3:
1 - Basically whenever the screen turns on or off, the blutooth audio will cut off for few seconds then come back.
2 - When I use it for google map turn by turn navigation, the first seconds of the voices always get cut off, so if the direction is long, I'll hear the end. And if it's short, I won't hear anything.
Anyone else has similar issues? If so any solutions? It's driving me nuts and I'm not even sure if it's the Note 3 issue or Android 4.3. My Note 2 has been working flawlessly with the same setup for the past year. My note 3 is running AT&T stock ROM, rooted and unlocked, froze some bloatware with TB, my bluetooth headset is Jaybird Bluebuds X. thanks for any suggestions!
I had this with my old HTC EVO 3D and my pluggin BT FM Radio device. I thought it was that but my Note 3 works perfect. Nothing like what you described for me.

Which version of the note 3 are you using? is it rooted with custom rom or everything stock?
I just deleted all system & user app cache from Titanium Backup, this seems to have solved the first issue. But I still miss first few seconds of spoken direction from google navigation with my bluetooth headset. I'm tempted to do a factory reset now...
UPDATE: I did more testing and have found out more. it seems to only occur during audio stream switching. If no music or audiobook(I use different apps for them) is playing, there is no sound cut off. but if either the music or audiobook is playing, first few seconds of audio from any notification or google voice navigation is cut off.

Well, that's better than the Bluetooth on my Note 3 LoL. On my Note the voice on the other end is muted every now and then when calling with a Mercedes carkit. (Comander). And... when streaming music to a high end apt-x dongle (HTC car A100) I get some gaps in the music
Never ever had any problems with the same configuration with a gazillion other Android phones
Firmware: international J7
For my note too, MJ7 rom , I have BT- streaming music and sometimes is starts jitterining and cut outs some times, it note my bt car radio that was problem, cause my friends xperja j work flawlessly. Shame with mi6 rom too before it got updated.
This is very annoying for the most expensive and best phone available!
Same on you samsung!
please if you find a solution contact me!
Thanks for this info. I'm choosing between the Note 2 and Note 3 and will go APTX exclusively. Worrying that it cuts out like that.
When it works, what about the actual audio quality with APTX? Have you listened to high resolution FLAC files, and can you tell a difference with the Note3 and APTX on?
having the same problem, really sucks

I've tried both custom & stock rom based on several variant of the 4.3 roms, they all have this issue so eventually i just gave up.
The good news is that I'm running on Kitkat 4.4.2 now, both rooted and stock seem to have fixed the issue, bluetooth audio switching is extremely fast(along with everything else) and no cut off.
hope the new kitkat will fix it
hope the new kitkat will fix it, i'm waiting for the t-mobile to release it, hopefully soon, also i tested on the samsung mega 4.2, it works perfectly, so it just 4.3 version , thanks for the information.

Music playback issue

Anyone have an issue where songs just randomly jump whilst playing? It doesnt matter which codec or player I use, songs will just jump or skip whilst playing. However playing the same tracks on my iPod Touch 4G results in no problems. Is this just a thing with Android in general and is there something I can do to fix it?
I've had this problem when listening via stereo Bluetooth. I don't listen using wired headphones so if that's how you're listening to your music I can't compare. Just out of interest, is your music on internal memory of 'external' microSD card?

My headphones are wired and music is on the internal memory. What's weird is that the only player I've found that seems to work properly is MX Player switched to allow music and hardware decoding enabled. Problem though is that it doesn't support gapless playback which I need.
Think I may have fixed my issue. Rooted my device and installed CPU Adjuster to setup a profile so that whenever Poweramp is active, my Tegra is to use the Ondemand CPU governor. So far Ive not had any jumps or skips in music. Quite weird why Ive had to resort to this just to get music to play properly, but at least it seems to be working for now.

Perhaps there's a problem with the way the kernel switches between the companion core and the four main cores. Perhaps periodically when playing music and doing other background tasks the fifth core isn't enough, or the frequency of it isn't ramped up quickly enough. Sounds like Nvidia boobed up
Does anyone else get music lag when playing music with Google Play Music or others? Its very annoying and it doesn't happen when I'm using earphone's or headphone's.

brilliant. since I am rooted, as well, I gave this idea a go and it worked, perfectly. I'll see if it holds up over the next week or so, but so far, it's completely eliminated the audio problem I was having in Google Play Music. Cheers!

PH-1 Oreo and Equalizer

Hi
Im very Happy with the Oreo Update for the Essential Phone. The only thing that doesn't work ist the Equalizer with Spotify. Does it work with your phone? I tried it via Bluetooth and the USB-C Adapter both failed.
My Phone is not Rooted and haven't Plan it to do. With the Beta and Android 7 the Equalizer seems Fine.
Thanks for your Help

Thanks for your Feedback i will try to Clear the Cache from MusicFX and hope for the best
Have found the Solution... its from 2013
I figured out what is causing the problem and this is when using the music fx equalizer any song you are playing from a playlist that is stored for offline use and you own that song this will cause the equalizer not to work. Once another song you do not own is played the equalizer works again. The only way to get a song you own to work with the equalizer is to go to the custom settings of the equalizer when the song you own is playing and click ok and the equalizer will work until spotify hits another song you own. This problem caused me to delete some songs I own off the phone and then delete the playlist and download it again so the playlist does not use a song I own and then the equalizer will not turn off.
Thanks Caltinpla:good:
Wow, that's a very particular circumstance and process to fix. Sure seems like a bug in Spotify and/or interface with the equalizer app.

Interesting...
I personally think it's malarkey...
Because... The built in equalizer will only work on songs that you have stored... When streaming... Deep Buffering kicks in... This causes more download from streaming audio sources... And bypasses the equalizer... Hence why you need to remove deep buffering to make streaming audio process...
