USB external hard drive on Shield 2017 - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm about to buy a 2017 Shield TV (NO PRO). I want to plug in an external 3.0 usb hard drive to it, where I store all my movies and TV series, to enjoy Plex server installed in the Shield.
My questions are:
1. Will the external hard drive be automatically recognized by the network too, like if it becomes some sort of network hard drive? In other words, will I be able to access to the hard drive from my iMac through the network in order to transfer other movies while it is still plugged into the Shield?
2. I will connect the Shield to my main TV through a regular HDMI cable. Since I have another TV with DLNA in another room, can I stream from the Shield to this other TV?
Sorry for the dumb questions, I really am a newbie here... Thanks in advance!

[Question] Connect to TV Display Via USB

Hi Guys,
Perhaps this is a stupid question. I just wondering whether we can use the USB cable of our beloved HD2 machine to connect to TV so as to watching the movie stored in the machine....
Does anyone knowing about this....
I look forward to see if this is possible or not...
Thank you any reply.....
Add
there are tv's out, which are able to use usb sticks or hard drives and watch some movies..
there are also dvd players
so if your tv can handle a usb storage it is possible.
but directly from micro usb to hdmi will not work.
if you want s.t. like this, you need to buy a phone lige evo 4g, which has an hdmi output.

Im pretty sure someone will come up with something...
This won't happen. The USB port on this device is not physically capable of supporting this.

[Q] Kindle Fire USB Port work with External Hard Drive?

Can anyone with a kindle fire confirm whether or not a USB External HDD containing various data could be directly connected for Video / Music / Picture / Documents? (with adapter of course)
The kindle seems great, but aside from the usual "connect it to your computer for mass storage" I haven't yet found an answer to this question.
If not, how successful have people been with streaming video from a HDD connected to a wireless router to the kindle fire?
I dont believe this has "USB Host" ability. And with the current stock rom I would highly doubt it is even possible if it were there.

WD live hub with Galaxy Tab 10.1
Well I do have the same setup as you are describing. The WD live hub is an excellent player and media storage device, not to mention a media server which all my computers can play directly from. I have my two Tabs 4g and non working great with it streaming content directly off from the hub. Also the cellphones and other computers all through wifi and or network lan. In order to hook up the WD live hub you have to be connected via wifi or lan. I found no way of directly interfacing with the hub by USB. I was too impatient with transfering my movies and photos to the hub, I took the built in HD drive out and directly interfaced it with my desktop and transfered that way. The drive by the way is a Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 5400RPM. The only other way is to have a USB to 30pin connector on your Tab and hooking the hard drive that way using a USB to SATA converter. But that is a tedious task, I'm not sure why WD didn't have a USB to Host adapter built in.

Apple's Peripherals

For those of you that own an Apple Bluetooth mouse or Trackpad, or any other Bluetooth device, I can tell you that they work great with the Amazon Fire tv. Therefore, that frees up the USB port in case you guys use Popcorn Time, Showbox or HD Cinema, and want to download your movies onto a USB stick. Enjoy
I second this

Connecting MiBox Controller to Shield Tv

Is any way to connect the MiBox controller to Shield Tv, I need it to connect because of my father who is an elderly man does not want to use the new controller...
Any thoughts about how to do it? Also, I try it but in the shield does not appear, but if I try to connect a speaker it appears.
