Stock Nougat ROM or Custom ROM? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've optimized my X Play with a Stock Nougat ROM + Magisk + Xposed + ForceDoze and I'm very happy with standby battery consumption (0.5 to 5% per hour) but with the screen on the battery goes down fast (20 to 24% per hour), the device heats considerably and sometimes stutters. That's why I think I'd have better results using a Custom ROM + Custom Kernel, I've read recommendations from AOSP extended, DotOS and PureNexus but I have not been able to try any for reasons of time.
In case you have tried these or other Custom ROM, what combination of ROM and Kernel is your recommendation for good battery, less heat up and optimal performance?
Thanks in advance.

Which is the best Android 6.0 rom for Moto X Play

I flashed different roms on Moto X Play CM13, Dirty unicorns, AICP, ressurection remix but all giving some problems and random reboots. I'm currently using aicp and give random reboots same as cm13, DU.... I just want to know which is the best rom in term of customizations and stability. I even need more battery backup. So guys just suggest me the most stable and bug free custom rom for X Play
You can't get better battery backup on custom roms compared to stock rom. Regarding reboots, i never had any reboot problem on any custom rom. I used RR for over a month and now i am on DU for past week but never had any reboot. Be sure to be on the stock kernel of the rom you are using.
And what about CM 13
Stock+Xposed = stability, great battery and customization
Dirty Unicorns
Stock+ xposed
AICP gives best battery time for me
Nope never got one.
stock + squid kernel + xposed (gravitybox is a must)
debloated stock + greenify + amplify + optimus/squid kernel
Stock +Xposed (Greenify, Amplify & Gravitybox)
Craaaazzyyy Battery Life .... I kid you not !

Best rom for athene

What do you think the best rom for the moto g4 plus is in terms of battery life and performance. And which rom would give the best battery life for a light user
I tried most of them, and I think stock is best.
I have my setup with magisk: systemless xposed and superuser.
using vanir, that or stock best for me.
RR 5.8.0 is very good in battery life out of the box, I'm using it for 5-7 sot for nearly 2 days(no gaming, no stream,Bluetooth, WiFi, flight mode over night)
For the simplest experience, don't look away from Stock.
Or you can go with RR 5.8.0. That's an awesome ROM for customization freaks.
I tried a few, but Resurrection Remix 5.8.0 is best so far.
Good battery life, rooted out-of-the-box, all features I tried actually worked.
I have a canadian 1641, retail, and have NOT upgraded my modem to the N version yet.
For me the rom has been xenon hd it's great has reasonable battery life around 5 hrs sot and it is smooth AF.
Stock ROM here. Stable, no issues. Systemless rooted SuperSU, added XtremeMusic mod and Dolby Atmos (same thread).

Im also using vanir but after upgrading to latest build battery draining fast.. any idea why this happening..?
Stock, Xposed, and maybe custom Kernel
I agree with stock. A little tweaking and stock is hard to beat.
Of you want a stable daily driver then stock can't be beat. Rooted makes it even better. Tried all the roms and they aren't good enough for daily drivers for me. Until an official rom, PAC was and has always been the second best to stock in my opinion.
I tried XPerience and Resurrection Remix, both for about a week, but I returned to rooted stock with ElementX kernel. That is the most stable setup I have found so far. Best battery life too.
Resurrection Remix hands down, been on it since the day it got released. Yes, it is a feature rich ROM and can let you customize in innumerable ways, and yet won't cost you in terms of performance and battery life.
Motor G4+ has official status to its RR ROM which means support from the Xda thread and RR devs as well.
Having tried quite a few Nougat ROMs on the Moto G4+ forum, can vouch for RR's stability. How about not having a single freeze, boot loop or auto restart since past two weeks I've been on it?
You can check its support thread, you'd have to look hard for reported bugs. In all the years of using custom ROMs, this ought to be one of the rare cases.
And it comes prebaked with kernel based on ElementalX, which means you get not only the kernel but can also tweak and optimize it with EX Kernel Manager, just as you'd do on stock.
As for the battery, I'm getting between 6 and 6.5 hours SOT with moderate - heavy use (streaming Spotify over VPN included)
Also, Xposed for Nougat is still nowhere in sight, which means having to wait still longer for the mods to be updated for 7.0 and 7.1. So, having a highly functional and feature rich ROM that can offer at least some of the functionality and customization of Xposed mods, is where RR wins over other custom ROMs.
Here's my current configuration on my XT1643:
RR 5.8.0 + SuperSU 2.78SR5 + ARISE Deuteronomy alpha with Dolby Atmos add on + Patched Adfree background playback YouTube + NoChromo adfree browser + Greenify Donation (sucks without xposed but nevermind)
Though I've not tried, but users confirm running (some) Substratum themes as well.
Future updates should get CMTE support as well, just in case.
I guess there's still lot more customization that can be done along with finding patched/alternative apps that Xposed mods would take care of other wise.
And yes, MotoG4+ is now officially supported for dualboot patcher, meaning you can boot into different ROMs which significantly expands scope of how you can use your device.
Lastly, all that's mentioned above is from Xda itself which means not only can you trust what you're doing to your phone, in case you do screw up you'd still have good chance to salvage yourself.

Id say stock with your criteria. I have only tried several versions of CM 14.1 myself but if I remember correctly the battery felt as if it was lasting longer on stock 6.0. The experience after dealing with several reflashes and getting used to that process is a bit hard but the system I use now feels allot faster. I can only guess that the better performance comes at the cost of battery usage.

I guess you did not read, search and you're also rude. That's not the way you should request something on XDA.
Did you ever installed a custom rom? If not, please take your time and learn basics BEFORE going further with installing ressurection remix. Otherwise you will run into big trouble.
Ok sorry for that..?

Android Nougat 7.1.1 ROM suggestion?

Has battery life on Android 7.1.1 become better since Android 7.0? If yes, would anyone suggest me a ROM with great battery life?
Battery duration on 7.0 sucked so much that i returned to Pure Nexus MM. Thanks in advance
In android 7.1.1 I use the stock ROM. The battery life is acceptable, I arrive at the end of the day with 40% load on average.
Cortex ROM (stock base)
there are alot, i would suggest you try each and see what you like the most !
my suggestions would be these : Resurrection Remix/PureNexus/Aosip/DirtyUnicorns/NitrogenOS.
all of them are good, but see what you'll like the most.
Also use Cortex ROM but with ElementalEx Kernel running GhostPepper. Get pretty solid battery life.
Stock rom with EX Kernel / Hawktail

Best rom for balance of performance and battery life?

Best rom for balance of performance and battery life?
Lineage os official.
useless question, flash yourself. Different useage, different results.
Stock 8.1.
I flashed at least 5 ROMS in past few days. So far Stock + Mint kernel gave best battery/performance balance.
Favorite for my case would be Liquid Remix as it has more customization and battery life is somewhat close to Stock, and a bit snappier than Stock.
It all depends on your usage and what you want.
Go and try the ROMs, we can't help you much by telling what is the best, because there is no best, all ROMs all different and offer different things.
Stock.
Sent from my Mi A1 using XDA Labs
- Stock + Mint kernel
- LineageOS + Projectk kernel (governor: relaxed)
- AEX - full stock (kernel stock)
? ? ?
Simple.... stock, is that not why you have AndroidOne?
Pixel Experience + Void Kernal - strong 6+ hrs SOT
There is never a real answer to this question. every rom has its own pros and cons. best way is to flash and try different roms to find out which one fits best for your needs. to me (at least for now) Resurrection remix + Francokernel is doing the best.

Best stable and max SOT for N9100ZC + Extended battery 10.000 mAh kernel

I use stock rom 6.0.1 for a couple months, and flash Zerolemon fuel gauge fix kernel.
Amplify + Greenify + Powernaps+ ForceDoze only get me 1.5 days working (using Wubatec 10.000 mAh)
Dual sim is working fine.
Is there any custom rom + kernel that has better SOT and dual sim working for my N9100ZC (Open China version) ?
Apppreciate the help.
