Soft Snap Superior Auto Catastrophe

Hello Every Body !
lets get it straight ! i really admire the Z1 camera ! i always shot in Manual Mode .. But why ? Just to avoid the SA catch SoftSnap mode/scene
its amazingly BAD ... for the extent that i really wanna email Sony to get to the person who put values to this Mode and mock him alittle ! it needs no brainer that the SoftSnap ruins every day to day Portraits !
Am on 4.2.2 didnt catch my 4.3 yet !

I have been using CameraMX and It is way better than stock app if you want a simple point and shot, it even have one specified icon that opens the app, focus and shoot with only one touch

I am just curious, did you do the pic in iAuto with 20mpx?

The superior auto its only merit is that it activate scenes automatically… basically no need to switch to any other camera app as the manual mode is equal to all others apps.
Also the bionz image chip will not process with any other app than the default

This i imagine is the leading cause for shots that are not sharp and when it happens to reviewers they say the camera is not good.
I'm curious.. does the exif indicate what 'scene capture type' was chosen in SA ? or does it just indicate 'standard'. From what i can tell if it indicates the scene mode then it was chosen manually, otherwise there is no mention of it in SA. Can you confirm ?
if so then only way you can tell is by taking the same shot in soft scene mode and then doing the comparison.

[Q] E7 camera and battery performance

Hi All,
This is my first thread in XDA forum, im currently looking to buy a new phone and E7 is on top of my list due to its solid specification.
Could you kinldy let me how does the camera compare to otherflagship devices,
i dont usually play games but im online a lot , can i go through a day with a single charge on this mobile.
I rellay dont like the amigo UI but i believe i can install other launcher on this with no problems.

Welcome to the XDA..If u dont have an issue with upgrades(want 4.4,4.5.....),brand names,poor amigo OS(An upgrade is on its way for E7) then its a good buy. Talking about the camera.yes its good macro shots are awesome but with other flagship are like little ahead(my experience).
Battery backup is one day with normal use.I think battery backup is quite good seeing the specs and the display.

camera is really good.

camera is awesome but how can u take macro shots without a macro mode in the camera????? der is no macro mode.

just use any other camera app with macro mode on...Camera FV-5 for an example..

awesome colors but noisy
i found that while the camera is very good for macro shots, and being such a great hardware(it can support 4k video recording) I don't understand why there is so much noise when you zoom the image. even daylight photos looks grainy when you zoom a little bit. i mean its freakin 16 mp am i not supposed to zoom in to see details. but also I'm no expert in photography or cameras

yeah macro shots are good but the edges of other clicks is quite noisy...cant do anything...even xperia z pics are noisy when compared to E7.....

Hi, which is generally better about camera? Elife E7 or xperia Z? I'm planning to buy its another country verison(e7). Have you got any bad experience(screen, camera, case quality...) to not to buy E7 phone?.

I do not have any issues with close up or macro photos, they work perfectly fine, in fact, i find it working better then on any iphone or samsung ive tried so far...

you cannot have the lens has close, but with the amount of details you'll still have a better macro than the older camera
this is because of the f2.2 lens
the z3 tends to indeed take better macro shots than the competition (yay! one thing the camera does sort of decent).. but yeah you cant stick the camera too close like you would with another phone. i know, it feels "unnatural" but try 1 more centimer away and compare the resulting picture instead

Thanks man, your pictures have the same "problem" of mine. So it's not a problem with my Z3C but it's normal for all models.
But I am a little sad about that because YES the pictures are good but when I see the PERFECT focus at 2cm with a 200$ phone... and my Z3C completly blur at the same distance... I don't understand.
I'm not here for know if the Z3C is a good phone or not... but only for know if when you watch my video (1sr post) and ou try to take the same picture thad me in the video, you have the same blur result ?
But anyway I saw your sample and you have same pictures than me. Thanks for help and taking pictures for me man

you cant at same distance, other phone prolly has a f2.0 lens
since its higher mp it doesnt matter if u go back a centimer tho

So when you see my two pictures, the difference, you have (and all Z3C) the same thing ?
Nobody can with Z3C take a picture of money at the same distance than me in my sample?

Z3 has a f2.2 Lens
And nope cant take picture that close but if i take it further away and zoom it looks the same

5T features ported??

Hi All,
It seems that the 5T has a low light shooting preference over telephoto and facial unlock.
Although the latter is not something I'd ever use, I was thinking would it be possible for the camera's on the 5 to use the low light functionality of the 5T? I've read that they're similar?
If not, it's not the end of the world, I've took some great pics with my 1+ but if I could improve low light then it'd be a bonus.

I believe the 5T has a different camera sensor.
If that's the case, it won't be portable unless you change the camera altogether.

The primary camera is the same, the difference is on the second camera. Now its nos a zoom len, it will work for low Light shoots because the sensor has a different aperture.
The 5 has de 1.6x len zoom, now on the 5T, all the zoom is digital

Actually I think OP5 is doing the same thing (obviously with different second camera sensor) test yourself: open camera app, cover the main camera and obviously you will see just black, here is the weird thing: change to "zoom" (2x), cover the second camera (supposed zoom lens) you'll still have image then cover the main camera boom no image! So for 2x is just a digital zoom (a good one) from the main camera, and the second camera is just used for portrait mode effect

I think this is only in low light condition. Try this again in good light and it would work as expected

google cam with HDR+ will give you better low light shots
i took a picture of the night sky the other day and it actually turned out a beautiful picture. very surprised how well it judged exposure time.

We need to wait OxygenOS 4.7 to discover how many new features will arrive also in our OnePlus 5.

Focus on Google cam never works for me I've missed countless shots putting my faith in that
For the most part Google's Camera is awful.

In low light the second camera doesn't work, and it's better that way. With an f/2.6 aperture, it just wouldn't allow enough light in to the tiny sensor to be useful. This would be true even with the pixel binning technique the 5T uses for its secondary camera.
It's also entirely possible that there's hardware involved for that feature to work properly too.

Unbelievable bull crap from a senior member. This untrue.
Second lens activates in good looking lighting automatically, you covered the lens manually so it thinks it's dark and it will take the picture with main lens.
Best way to test is to test outside, I can visually see, how it's jumping from one lens to another when zooming. Also you can see whether it used the second lens from the photo details.

You don't need to be rude dude... Yes I'm senior member but I'm not a God that know how everything works, I just did that test and see that results, didn't know how this dual camera works. So I researched a bit and found what you said. My bad

Not likely since you have to have a lower aperture (1.7 or so) a Tele lens aperture is usually higher and allows less light to reach the sensor. With this, it is highly unlikely to have a software update that will allow the 5 to reproduce the 5T's low light photo quality.

OxygenOS 4.7 is not Oreo, is the default ROM installed in OnePlus 5T (OnePlus 5 has OxygenOS 4.5)

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Rear Camera
Well for a upper middrange phone not so good. I mean yes you can caught some good images but without OIS you can notice some blur sometimes. Also before using it for first time I recommend to turn off hdr auto and full screen camera because it can effect the image quality.
Front Camera
I must admit that front one is much much better than rear. For group photos or alone you can really capture a great photo. Also selfies sometimes can be too detailed, and that only thing that i don't like. 16 mp plus 8 mp dual one makes a great combination.

Rear camera is bad, nailing focus even in a decently lighted environment is a hit and miss. Don't even dare to expect an S7 quality.
Front camera is one of the best I've seen, specially in video calls.

Rear camera doesn't have portrait mode and pics are not of good quality , Daylight photos are good but not the best ones and low light camera isn't that good as it was shown on the teaser.

front cam is much better than rear cam.

i have been satisfied with the results of the front and rear cam. the front is from another world, but the rear is not the best but of course it is very good as well!!! i have enjoyed it in all conditions.

By installing the google camera mod the rear camera is just freakin awesome (including portrait mode). The stock camera is awesome only with the front camera.

Rear camera set 10 megapixel 18.5:9 . Very good photos!

For me it crashes also on taking a picture.

Disable hdr+ on front camera

Pro mode is very limited compared to the Galaxy S7/S8 stock camera app, we can't control exposure time. Is there a way to enable that feature? I think this phone has all what it takes to do the same.

What about picture resolution? I have a 3456x2592 vs 4608x3456 on stock camera. How can I fix it?

the first one is the A8
the next one is the s7 active... I may have fuged the lighting settings on that shot.
my s7active camera is starting to crap out... I think some moisture got in the camera cause I have to wipe it a lot...
honestly.. I've noticed great improvements on the a8... still alittle jumpy taking photos
