Has anybody successfully set "device owner on oreo? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Did anybody successfully set an app as device owner on oreo (not administrator)? I am trying to do it but after a reboot TW tells me my security has been compromised and that I need to factory reset.

No :/ I am on Pie now and it still doesn't work. It's probably a Samsung "feature".

Well, I asked my IT guy here to install his miradore software on my tablet and it didn't work.
The conclusion is, if you already oem unlock your device you can't be deviceowner on this device because the knox counter has been tripped.
I guess knox is very aggressive since Oreo

rooting + encryption not working

Hi,
I have rooted my S5 and want to enable the encryption.
But when I start the encryption it reboots after some seconds without encrypting.
I have unrooted the device and the encryption works well. Afterwards I have rooted again and then the deivice does not boot, so I had to reset.
Is there a way to encrypt a rooted device?

Are you also running custom recovery and what rom?
I think the phone might have to have all the knox files for the encryption to work properly.

I have only done the CF root, nothing else, no custom recovery.
Would be interesting if someone has a rooted S5 where device encryption works.

That's odd. It must be related to root then.
I don't have any experience with encryption and I'm fairly new to Knox as well so I may not be much help. A brief search didn't yield any promising results for having both encryption AND root, sorry.

Yes I have searched quite a lot but I could not find any info. Maybe people do not use encryption that much.

I hear about it more on the Corporate phones that require everything to be encrypted.
Hi guys,
do you still have that issue?
I encountered a problem activating encryption on a rooted SM-P900. I'm not sure, but I think it's a general problem with Samsung KitKat devices. I described, how I got it solved for my device here. Have a look at my thread and let me know, if it works for you...
Cheers!

Nice details on your your steps. This will not work for me as I have the VZW edition and not the developer edition. But I hope this works out for others that can use a custom recovery.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is with the VZW edition different? (google says: VZW = Verizon Wireless)
I am also rooted and cannot encrypt my device. Has any progress been made on finding a way to do it? I do not want to unroot and stay unrooted just so I can encrypt my device... On the other hand I cannot receive email so no encryption is also a no go ...
..
This is what fixed this issue for me in case any of you guys were still looking for the solution

I bought this phone "second hand" and all works good, but next day when i woke up i seen the phone "Welcome" and when i want to add my google account says "the phone was reset..."
Sorry for my bad English .
same problem....any solutions?
The purpose of the FRP is to protect personal property and information in the event the device is lost or stolent, so being able to circumvent that would defeat it's sole purpose.
Your best bet would be to email the Gmail you have on the phone and see if you can meet up again to disconnect the Gmail associated with it. Another possibility is to contact Google about the situation, perhaps they will contact the previous owner to verify the device was sold and to remove the email from the phone?

Android Pay says I'm rooted but I'm not

As you can see by the title, whenever I try to open Android Pay it states that i have made modifications to the device and I cant use Android Pay, however I haven't even tried to root, because I dont want to trip Samsung Knox. Other apps that check for root and Samsung Knox work fine, like my banking app and samsung pay. I installed substratum while I was on android 7.0, but since then updated to the android 8 beta, could this be why I'm experiencing this problem?
Have the same problem.oficial Oreo is CRAP!
You got oreo over the air or did you use twrp?
Is your OEM unlock turned off? Ive seen people say this has caused some issues for some.
Other than that have you tried a factory reset?
Yes,over the air. I back to android 7.0 android still no certyfikacion.

No. I have the snapdragon variant however nothing is modified. It's strange how I pass for other apps yet not android pay

No roll back of stock firmware plus 'reactivation lock'

So I got this S5 and it has firmware CQD1 on it. I guess there is a rollback protection on the bootloader because i cant flash any other firmware. To make matters worse, there is some kind of glitch with the Samaung Account. I am signed in to my valid account but I CANT REMOVE IT!!!! I am also unable to uncheck the box next to reactivation lock. Anybody else had this problem? I would be really thankful if someone could help me fix it.....

Most likely no. Most likely you cannot find the right firmware.

Cant use Samsung Health

Hi everyone,
I bought my s10+ second hand last december.
Today during quarantine I wanted to see how much I walked today and tried opening the app.
However, i get an error message when opening the app.
Access denied.
Unauthorized changes were made to your phone. Contact customer service for more information.
As far as i know my phone is not rooted, tried numerous apps but they all say its not rooted.
In the device status it also says official.
I do however get a message when i restart my phone regarding Knox not working.
How can this be fixed?
Which variant do you have? It sounds like it's a U.S. model that someone tried to root or is an exynos model that someone rooted then unrooted.

I have the SM-G975F variant, which is the Exynos model.
I think its the last one, rooted and then unrooted.
Anything I can do about this?
You can try a factory data reset OR reflash the latest stock firmware using Odin, but that may not fix it. From what I have read once knox is tripped that's it, it doesn't work again. I could be wrong though.

Tried the factory reset already before, didn't help. Don't have any experience with Odin unfortunately.
I will look for a similar app, but thank you anyway.
