IMEI, Volte and 4G fix ( work started ) - Moto G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

It's looking like I am going to need a new motherboard replacement for my IMEI 0 problem + can't call or text.
My mum also has a Moto G5 with everything working and on stock
what I am going to do since I need a motherboard replacement anyway is use the backup and restore App to backup all the partitions from my mums phone and restore them to my phone one by one and hopefully restore atleast 4G, Volte and the ability to use calls and texts as well as Data, if anything goes wrong or gets worse, I need a motherboard replacement anyway ( until I fix this problem by doing this or someone finds a fix that works everytime )

I don't understand why android oreo has to be so destructive for the g5

because is build on 64 bits, and moto g5 has partitions on 32 bits, from here we must start to discover where is the incompatibility

heres a solution to fix missing imei and network

even then the 8.0 roms only touch the system and boot partition
it never touches the persist, fsc, fsg, DDR, Aboot it doesn't modify those important partitions

We have only 3 methods
A blankflash file for Moto G5 - but none have been created or leaked by Motorola
EMMC_prorammer_firehose.mbn file for the Snapdragon 430, patch0.xml and rawprogram.xml files for the G5 gets released or made so we can use QPST - but none available for G5
booting using loader.img from Sdcard - doesn't appear to work

you didn't wipe aboot, abootbak, hypbak? right? Our phone has a backup partition for each partition (abootbak, hypback, sbl1bak, modembak, etc), asus included these, so there must be some way to use them to unbrick. Are you able to reboot to fastboot mode? ( i guess not, but still to confirm)
You can unbrick with QFIL ONLY if you manage to find your device's RAM IMAGE (usually MPRxxxx.mbn) and BOOT IMAGE (usually xxxx_msimage.mbn). Other flash files are included in asus fota, only these two are not. @shakalaca might help to find these files or the entire service ROM. I have been searching for asus service but to no avail . I have flashed many lenevo and xiomi phones with QFIL. Here's is a very nice guide http://www.androidbrick.com/unbrick...-you-have-the-right-kind-of-rom-qhsusb_dload/
You can request for ZF2 laser's service ROM on that website/blog. GSM FORUM is also a good forum to request service ROMs

I never cross flashed ram image. Be patient. Don't flash other device's ram image, it may worsen conditions. Keep this as the final solution, but NOT NOW. Also, you need boot image (.mbn) too.

HELP ME, NO ONE IS REPLYING TO Me, I NEED ANSWERS D: Please, you are my last hope!!!

First, I have a Moto X style (XT1572) and it has the IMEI as 0! I need help on how to get it back, desperately, please help!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, it seems like I have "No service" on my phone, and it says that my IMEI number is 0, and my IMEI/SV is 01. I tried flashing stock rom onto this when it happened. I can't afford a new one and the only way I can keep this phone is if I can fix it - is there any way I can make an IMEI then find the folder to put this back into my phone? I have no backup, but I do have a folder called GSII_repair and it has 2 files, efs_save.tar and efs_save.tar.gz, but I'm not sure it is of any use. I just recognized the efs as the efs folder. I can't find where my IMEI is at the moment, either, so I don't know whether it is completely deleted or just corrupted. I also have a Moto G 3rd gen, I may be able to get an IMEI file from that, and then change the hexadecimals to fit my phone's original IMEI which is on my box. So please tell me, am I completely runined, and my phone is destroyed, or is there a chance that I can fix it? Thanks for any replies. Guys please help me though, I need it!
`fastboot erase all` is the bane of Moto devices, once it has been done if you don't have a backup of the EFS partition to restore you are pretty much screwed and need to get it reflashed by Moto.
I know this might sound a bit weird, but can't he grab an efs partition from another pure with the efs zeroed out and then he can re edit with his imei?
IMEI
I do still have my IMEI on my box, I know what it is. Is anyone out there willing to help me by copying their efs partition and then setting the IMEI value to 0, so I can change it and then put it back into my phone? I don't know, but it might work.
Temporary Fix for LG G4 bootloop issue(lengthens life)
Hello everyone.
You all might have read in the xda news that @XCnathan32 fixed the Nexus 6p and now also the Nexus 5 bootloop issue (same as on our G4s) by disabling the big faulty cores and running the phone on only the small ones. Now our beloved dev @steadfasterX has come up with a similar fix for our G4.
it works by flashing modified boot and TWRP image onto the LG G4 so that it only works on the small four cores
UPDATE: Tested and found working by @the_naxhoo on his H815
Requirements
An unlocked G4
@steadfasterX 's FWUL for ease and required tools (lglaf)
Patience and prayers (optional though)
NOTE: the attached files are only for the T-Mobile variant which had 20o software before boot looping and the International H815 (BGR) variant which had 20g software before bootlooping
Guide:
(A)For unlocked devices that can access Fastboot
Access Fastboot mode by using the following method:
Pull out battery then connect usb cable, press volume down, put battery back while keeping volume down pressed
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
If you just reached the Fastboot mode, Congrats. Now execute the following commands in fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp_4cores_3.1.1-1-g4.img
Now you have a kernel and twrp with max 4 CPUs and the faulty CPUs disabled. Enjoy your resurrected phone.
(B)For Devices that can not acess Fastboot(unlocked only)
For a backup of your existing data you need an external SD Card big enough for a full backup of your device (64 GB if you want to backup the /data partition - otherwise you will be fine with 8 GB) best is to format the SD card with ext4 !! fat32 will fail for backup
For just flashing a boot image any SD card will fit..
1)extract both files you downloaded(see attached files) and put them on the SD card
2)boot FWUL and login
3)put the external SD card in your phone
4)boot phone to download mode and connect it to your PC with FWUL running
5)in FWUL find the folder LG on the desktop and open it
double click on the lglaf (auth) icon
6)you should see the lglaf shell now. Type in the command:
Code:
uname -a
(it should print out the line with your current kernel version which just indicates that you're connected)
7)mount external SD:
Code:
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /storage/external_SD
8)Now backup first (recommended but optional):
Update regarding backing up:
Check out the new guide here: https://tinyurl.com/dlbackup
9)Now flash:
Code:
dd if=/storage/external_SD/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 seek=491520 bs=512
Code:
dd if=/storage/external_SD/twrp_4cores_3.1.1-1-g4.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 seek=573440 bs=512
Now you have a kernel and twrp with max 4 CPUs and the faulty CPUs disabled. Enjoy your resurrected phone.
Atm the method is ROM specific. That means I need a direct link or the EXACT file name to the used kdz. E.g. H815 has several country versions.
Disabling the cores on any ROM means modifying aboot which is not an option because even when your device is unlocked the try may soft or hard brick.
Instead once I have the time I will make a flashable TWRP zip for this which patches the boot image after flashing a ROM but this is a manual task everytime after flashing a ROM.
find attached the patched boot image for your ROM version.
just to mention it again: the modded twrp image is highly recommended to flash as well bc TWRP will make use of all cores it can find when backing up/restore
when your device is unlocked AND you have fastboot access you can just do a
Code:
[COLOR="Blue"]fastboot flash boot boot_4cores.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp_4cores.img[/COLOR]
The download mode way I described in the OP is required when you cannot access fastboot and for locked devices. I will try to create a KDZ out of this but atm this is the way to go then.
I cannot say for sure that this way will soft brick locked devices or not. it should not but i cannot test it..!!
It mainly depends on the fact if the whole boot image gets verified or just the kernel + initrd.
afaik its not the whole boot partition... so it should work with the download mode way even on locked devices.
@XeniX_Force : attach the file and fastboot cmds to the OP as well pls.
not necessarily. the problem is with the bigger cores. why replace ram?
The issue is failed solder joints between the SOC and the LPDDR3. Disabling cores will not keep it from occurring.
Applying pressure to the chip may also bring it back to a non-boot loop condition.
My G3 has a credit card 'shim' between the LPDDR3 and the housing. It cured? the fad out to black for a period of time. They also blue or green screened as well. On the G4 it shows up as a boot looping or stop (stuck) booting condition. My G4 is currently at LG awaiting a motherboard.
yea bootloop is the first stage. next one is what u describe. send it to repair.
there are good chances that it went into QDL 9008 mode. Just connect it to your PC and watch unknown devices in your device manager (or type lsusb on linux) and see what happens.
Motorola Moto X Play hard bricked after OTA
Hi there. I was on stock firmware when the OTA came. I did not installed for a while but when I did my phone went completely dead. I cannot boot into the bootloader nor the recovery. I cannot get fastboot to work. The only hope I have is when I connect it to Windows PC it recognizes it as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM 3). After some research I found that I can do a blankflash, but i cannot find any blankflash files for my phone. So my question is - Is there any way to generate singleimage.bin (for blankflash) or any other way to recover it? Thank you!
Got the same problem. until now no blankflash files available, i guess. Only way is by jtag box. i tried with loader.img for moto x style but it doesnt work for moto x play.
I have the same problem, no blankflash files available until now?
It won't work for sure.. The whole project was sponsored by a guy in Hard bricked Moto X Play telegram group created by us.. The only way to fix it is Jtag flashing.. It may cost you around INR 1000.
How to approach jtag?
You're welcome buddy.. Just don't waste time on blank flash files.. It just won't work as it isn't digitally signed by Motorola.. Get it fixed from Pune.. That's the only possible solution as of now.. Else you'll have to change the Mother Board..
Hello, after restoring the official firmware and working perfectly the phone, an OTA update appeared, small, I gave it to install as other times ... and from that moment the phone with the black screen.
It seems I'm not the only one, is there any way to revive it?
There is nothing to do ... send it to Motorola and pay the settlement, which is not worth it, they asked me € 195 (according to them, you had to change the motherboard) ... so thrown away.
If it had been to mess with him, but after an official OTA. Never again Motorola.
My Moto x play completely dead
My moto x play completely not working, I can't able to charge or switch Mobile.
I tried all flashmde or different types of to install., but my mobile was not detected.
But when I connect pc, its showing only Qualcomm name.
Also I tried qflash mode, mobile detecting Qualcomm connected details in my pc but its expecting content or stream file type of firmware stock file.
Can you assist any one where we can get moto x play qflash support file.
Thanks,
Rajesh Kumar R
[help] lg g6 brick
My LG G6 is hard bricked, it's originally g600s, i accidentally flashed h872 firmware on it.. The phone isn't booting anymore, and i accidentally clicked "erase entire flash", and now flashing partition manually using qfil isn't working anymore... Anyone has "Rawprogramm.xml" file for lg g6? I would really appreciate if someone could share me their rawprogram file.
Unlike Samsung phones, which sport a Download Mode which is really Fastboot, the G6 should have a special D/L mode in addition to Fastboot.
I never used it on the G6, could be by holding the switched off phone's vol up or down button during attaching the phone to usb.
If not even the D/L mode screen appears, which is the most basic fallback option, the phone is a real brick, serviceable, but not w/o special equipment.
The unbrick guide here provides the xml files you will need to recover, make sure to thank the dev there:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/lg-g6-unbrick-method-t3935924
While the guide is for US non-T-Mobile devices specifically and your modem partition may not be functional afterwards but I am hopeful that it will at least restore the download mode and from there you can flash a kdz. You may have lost your IMEI info/efs partition but if you remember your IMEI number or if it is etched on the back of the phone, there are ways to fix that partition and IMEI. Be mindful of the legality of these fixes where you live. Google for the IMEI fix information because I am not sure if it is allowed on XDA.
LG G6 UnBrick (New Method)
LG G6 Unbrick First Thing First: If you try this method, I nor anybody else is responsible for any further damage done to your phone. [CENTER]!!!YOU CANNOT FLASH THIS TO AN H872!!! If you have destroyed the partitions, you are going to have to...
you can make the rawprogram0.xml (and the other other ones) yourself using your device's KDZ per the post up there. Was tested in Linux on Ubuntu and python 3.
