Updating the Galaxy Tab to the latest firmware !

Hey guys
I'm running the P1000JXJJ1, FroYo JPJJ2 firmware on my Tab, and samfirmware states P1000JVJL1 is the latest one !
so I was advised NOT to use KIES, and ODIN was better !!
My tab is rooted with OCLF set, Just a quick question, Odin will delete all my data and also I believe that I'd have to re-ROOT the device right?
another question is since I didn't have market out of the box, the product sales code has been changed to XSG.
thanks a lot guys in advance
Cheers
Jackie
if u use oclf, undo oclf b4 update firmware, kies or odin works fine for me, i'll only use odin when i screw up with my tab
and will I have to re root the device and also will ODIN delete all my data?
Hi,
searching for something else I accidentily found this thread.
Maybe my experince might be of any interest: got the galaxy tab 3 days ago, installed KIES and instantly got a message to update the firmware to Froyo JK5. I followed the suggestion to save my data which I regret later, because it took very long (had already copied a lot of videos to the internal sd) and couldn´t stop it. To cut it short:
the update was successful and nothing deleted, just everything in place. Also synchronized Outlook contacts, though at 96% it got stuck - waited a few minutes, then broke up and all contacts had been transferred fine.
(don´t know, if firmware is different for other countries...)
Odin will not delete your data if you did not choose to repartition, no need to use pit file to repartition if you are just upgrading fw from the same region..safest is still via KIES
To correct some mis-information from above. Flashing with Odin can delete your data, it depends on what components are included in the image you flash. If you flash an official ROM with Kies you should not loose your data but there is always a risk of an issue occurring during any flash that could lead to data loss. Unless you flash a pre-rooted custom ROM you will loose root and SU during a flash. These can be re-applied easily to the SGT using the Super One-Click method.
Redardless of what flashing method you use, if you use RyanZA's OCLF you must undo the lag fix before you flash, otherwise you will certainly loose data and possibly end up with a corrupt system that won't boot (I had first hand experience of this early on in my flashing days with my SGS!). You shouldn't really need to apply a lagfix to the SGT as it doesn't seem to suffer from the same lag as the SGS.
Finally, flashing with Odin can lead to product code being changed, especially if the ROM you flash isn't intended for the normal product code of your device. There are various ways to restore your poduct code, look in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for suggestions on how to do this as the basic construction of the ROMs is very similar between the two devices from that point of view. Also, be aware that people with SGS devices have reported loosing their IMEI while flashing with Odin. If this happens you will end up with a WiFi only device unless you backed up your /efs folder before you flashed. There's lots of info in the SGS forums about this and it's worth a read if you are new to flashing. I haven't heard of anyone with a SGT loosing their IMEI yet but it's worth taking precautions.
Happy flashing folks!!
thanks a bunch guys, I'm now running the latest version !!
was just trying to install the latest gingerbread theme from the forums !! will let you all know how that went

Go to the Android Development section.
Look up Overcome and BOCA for the Galaxy Tab. Both a great however I prefer BOCA. The current release is 2.3.4 but 2.3.7 is in the works.
If you follow the instructions for BOCA you will have a GTab that feels like it was newly born again.

Yes. Follow the instructions on the magrathea site or overcome
Use overcome instructions to instal stock GB 5. It tells you the pit and modem to use for your tab.
Then install the overcome kernel and reboot. It will root the tab and format the storage.
Then you install the Boca zip over the overcome kernel.
If you just want overcomes Rom follow their instructions. They make it simple
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
is that all??hmm,
will try donload all the files 1st,then i will try
thanks guyz for da info..
so i dont need to flash stock rom like i always do with my SGS before installing any custom rom?

[Q] XXJG7 Firmware

Hi Guys,
Ive searched the forum, to no avail...
I would like to flash my Apollo with FroYo, but for safety's sake im trying to find a copy of my original firmware so I can flash it back and use KIES if needed.
If I type in *#1234# I get:
PDA I5800XXJG7
Phone I5800XXJG3
CSC I5800XXJG5
Does any kind person have the relevant files handy for upload please?
Also, If I flash a new firmware should they all match the original (ie the I5800XX part).
Thanks for your help
I posted the same question a week ago. I didn't get a straight answer. I had the same firmware before i flashed to XXJPM. Your firmware is XXJG7, but I didn't find it on samfirmware. I found XWJG7, but I think that is not the same, because there is xxjpf and xwjpf - the first one being older. To update via kies when the official update comes u need an official firmware, XXJG7 is official since u got it with your phone, but u cant find it, can you? So you need any official firmware, but i don't know witch are official except XXJG7... Anyway don't bother with this, you can flash froyo without backup, i did it and nothing went wrong but be cautius and folow the steps closly and when the official update comes it will be avaliable to flash via odin. until then flash any non official froyo
I have this rom and am uploading it now its I5800XXJG3 - csc xxjg5 - phone xxjg5 - pda xxjg7 will post a link soon
here you go
megaupload.com/?d=OYHZW0WX
Thanks
I see the numbers are slightly different, does it matter?
I have also read that flashing the bootloader can cause hard-brick issues, is it better not to flash the bootloader?
i did not flash the bootloader just to be on the safe side, not sure what the cl447760 & cl460190 mean all i tell you is kies see's this as the latest firmware for my phone the uk .
i got the phone three weeks aga at the carphone warehouse it is unbranded and unlocked
Thanks again for your help. I have now upgraded mine to the standard XXJPM FroYo with ODIN. Just out of interest, is there a way I could have got the old firmware off my phone into files like you uploaded?
i think you can dd them to the sd card but not sure how to do it , i googled for ages to find my that firmware on some random site because i did not like froyo after i flashed it
ive gone back to 2.1 until i can find a fix for icons not staying on the home screen from apps installed on the sd card after a reboot. other than that i was pleased with it.

Flashed with Overcome need to go back to a Stock release

Hi!
I flashed my P1000 Tab to Firmware 2.3.3 from Overcome before I sold it to a friend. He now wants to resell it on so I want to reflash it back to a standard Samsung ROM so they in turn can do updates in Kies etc.
What is the easiest way to do it - go back to a factory ROM?
I have had a look on Overcome and they say to go to the samfirmware site but I'm not sure which one I want as I seem to be going around in circles.
The tablet is in Australia so it would need to be a ROM for Australia.
Can someone point me in the right direction of what I need to do and where I get the ROM I need etc?
Thanks

Not sure where you'd find one but there were Roto backups of the Telstra ROM floating around somewhere. I don't think theres any ROM dumps for Optus (I've been looking for one for ages) anywhere, but you might be able to try using one of the stock Euro ROMs and see what Kies will do with that.
Remember, however that neither Telstra nor Optus ever released a Gingerbread update and are unlikely to at this point, so Kies probably won't be all that useful.
Hi
So I downloaded this files called P1000NUBJP7_UUBJP7_UBJP3, but now dunno what to do.
Do I install it via Odin somehow, the file above contains a PIT file and also a .rfs file which I guess is the firmware as it is 250Mb.
When I try and add the item for CSC and PDA in Odin there are none in that archive!
Thanks

How to put my Note back to original state as my Note screen is faulty

I got my Note yesterday from a phone shop and my screen has loads of lines across it when dark colours are displayed...not happy! Its not damaged so its not my fault I only noticed last night and its been stressing me out.
I rooted the phone earlier and also I installed the ICS theme, can I get back to original state before I go to return the phone, help needed please! Thanks.
try settings, privacy, factory data reset. if that doesnt work, you may need to flash.
Reflash back with the stock regional ROM, Although I have no idea yet as to where to get the ROM.. last time I checked with Samfirmwares they dont have it yet.
Anyone know of another way to unroot, maybe by using the unrooting method?
Here is how I rooted, I used this guide in the following link http://knowmydroid.com/guide/root-samsung-galaxy-note
...so you know what method I used so that you can tell me the proper unroot solution, thanks.

Can I use this rom? http://www.filesonic.com/file/40770...000XXKKA_CSC_N7000XENKK1_PHONE_N7000XXKK5.rar
The link came from wikipedia and is a Europe rom
I have no idea what ROM came with your phone, might as well check with the store and download the correct ROM.

How do I do that?...ring them up? I bought my phone from the Carphonewarehouse incase you have an idea of what rom it is
I have the update rom on my phone, all I need is either another rom or the stock theme to remove my current theme (ICS) so that they don't know I had root, then I can unroot my phone.
The phone will be unrooted in the process of flashing a stock ROM. Did you pull a nandroid when your phone was (almost) still stock? You could restore that against the theme. As for root/unroot, I did jot down my original version: XXKJ4. I find that ROM, I'll be fully stock again. Check the thread of the root solution you used, there might be instructions on how to unroot. Also there is a dedicated how-to-unroot-thread in the dev section.

I'm also interested in this.. I would like to root my phone, but I don't want to lose the warranty.
SAMMOBILE
Anyone in the UK who like me purchased their note from carphone warehouse, if you hop over to sammobile, you will find for the N7000, a nice stock rom listed for the note, and it is the carphone warehouse version..
I have it as backup to flash just in case it ever has to be reurned, but for the record, for those that did not know, As long as it has a rom that is stock for your region on it when you return it then its fine, Flashing or upgrading a stock regional rom does not affect your warranty, so dont worry about binary counters.
I think custom roms and kernels do affect warranty tho.
check this link to download and install as directed..

Questions about installing custom rom and need rom suggestions.

Hey guys i want to install a custom rom for my t00j-d. I searched about unlocking bootloader and things like that but i couldnt find something useful. First off all i have latest stock rom (lolipop) and its not rooted so do i have to root my device first then unlock bootloader then flash rom? And which rom is good at the moment? My priorities are battery life > performance > visual.
thanks for reading and answers

i have been looking around and can not find any info on what i want to do. so i am just going to ask and see if anyone can help. hope ive come to the right place.
about a year ago i purchased a blu studio 6.0 hd(d651u). it came stock with kk(4.2.2 i believe. can confirm if needed.) i pulled the stock firmware using droid tool. so i do have the original rom and scatter file. the lollipop update was available so i updated. afterwards i ran the updated rom through SuperRs rom kitchen, rooted, de-odexed, debloated... afterwards when i was theming the apks and was almost satisfied, i dropped the phone and it broke.. so i purchased another one. same make same model(d651u). only thing i see any different is that this new one came stock with the same lollipop rom that my old phone had updated to. so my question is this. can i use the stock rom and scatter file that i got from my original device to restore the device i have now in case anything goes wrong. im trying to find out if i can safely skip the whole rom pull step and jump right into getting my custom rom onto my NEW phone. i know i can use my old rom, i just wonder if i would be able to restore a brick with my original rom pull because they are the same device, just manufactured at different times. any feed back would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you

no, you should not use the backup from another phone to restore your new one. and you should post in the section for blu studioinstead of here, the info you get here might be inaccurate
