Hi Guys,
Ive searched the forum, to no avail...
I would like to flash my Apollo with FroYo, but for safety's sake im trying to find a copy of my original firmware so I can flash it back and use KIES if needed.
If I type in *#1234# I get:
PDA I5800XXJG7
Phone I5800XXJG3
CSC I5800XXJG5
Does any kind person have the relevant files handy for upload please?
Also, If I flash a new firmware should they all match the original (ie the I5800XX part).
Thanks for your help
I posted the same question a week ago. I didn't get a straight answer. I had the same firmware before i flashed to XXJPM. Your firmware is XXJG7, but I didn't find it on samfirmware. I found XWJG7, but I think that is not the same, because there is xxjpf and xwjpf - the first one being older. To update via kies when the official update comes u need an official firmware, XXJG7 is official since u got it with your phone, but u cant find it, can you? So you need any official firmware, but i don't know witch are official except XXJG7... Anyway don't bother with this, you can flash froyo without backup, i did it and nothing went wrong but be cautius and folow the steps closly and when the official update comes it will be avaliable to flash via odin. until then flash any non official froyo
I have this rom and am uploading it now its I5800XXJG3 - csc xxjg5 - phone xxjg5 - pda xxjg7 will post a link soon
here you go
megaupload.com/?d=OYHZW0WX
Thanks
I see the numbers are slightly different, does it matter?
I have also read that flashing the bootloader can cause hard-brick issues, is it better not to flash the bootloader?
i did not flash the bootloader just to be on the safe side, not sure what the cl447760 & cl460190 mean all i tell you is kies see's this as the latest firmware for my phone the uk .
i got the phone three weeks aga at the carphone warehouse it is unbranded and unlocked
Thanks again for your help. I have now upgraded mine to the standard XXJPM FroYo with ODIN. Just out of interest, is there a way I could have got the old firmware off my phone into files like you uploaded?
i think you can dd them to the sd card but not sure how to do it , i googled for ages to find my that firmware on some random site because i did not like froyo after i flashed it
ive gone back to 2.1 until i can find a fix for icons not staying on the home screen from apps installed on the sd card after a reboot. other than that i was pleased with it.

Hi
Ive recently been gifted a T-mob samsung galaxy tab. I had a few questions about the same, would be very glad if someone could answer them for me
1) Is it possible to flash it with Indian/Asian firmware? I did some reading aand found out that flashing with euro firmware is possible, so this sould also be possible? If so, can someone point me as to where i might get more info on this?
2) Once flashed, and connected via Kies, if a new firmware of that region is released, would it automatically update to the new version or it will have to be done manually again?
3) Is it possible to flash back to original t-mob firmware should i need to avail warranty in the future?
you help is appreciated.

Flashing to Asian firmware is possible. I did it with Korean Firmware. However, it is useless in U.S. Market. If you are trying to flash it due to language, I would look for other solution rather than changing the whole rom.

Most likely it will need to be done manually.

Yes it is possible to flash back to T-mob firmware. Check Rotohammer's Roto backup process.
Hey guys
I'm running the P1000JXJJ1, FroYo JPJJ2 firmware on my Tab, and samfirmware states P1000JVJL1 is the latest one !
so I was advised NOT to use KIES, and ODIN was better !!
My tab is rooted with OCLF set, Just a quick question, Odin will delete all my data and also I believe that I'd have to re-ROOT the device right?
another question is since I didn't have market out of the box, the product sales code has been changed to XSG.
thanks a lot guys in advance
Cheers
Jackie
if u use oclf, undo oclf b4 update firmware, kies or odin works fine for me, i'll only use odin when i screw up with my tab
and will I have to re root the device and also will ODIN delete all my data?
Hi,
searching for something else I accidentily found this thread.
Maybe my experince might be of any interest: got the galaxy tab 3 days ago, installed KIES and instantly got a message to update the firmware to Froyo JK5. I followed the suggestion to save my data which I regret later, because it took very long (had already copied a lot of videos to the internal sd) and couldn´t stop it. To cut it short:
the update was successful and nothing deleted, just everything in place. Also synchronized Outlook contacts, though at 96% it got stuck - waited a few minutes, then broke up and all contacts had been transferred fine.
(don´t know, if firmware is different for other countries...)
Odin will not delete your data if you did not choose to repartition, no need to use pit file to repartition if you are just upgrading fw from the same region..safest is still via KIES
To correct some mis-information from above. Flashing with Odin can delete your data, it depends on what components are included in the image you flash. If you flash an official ROM with Kies you should not loose your data but there is always a risk of an issue occurring during any flash that could lead to data loss. Unless you flash a pre-rooted custom ROM you will loose root and SU during a flash. These can be re-applied easily to the SGT using the Super One-Click method.
Redardless of what flashing method you use, if you use RyanZA's OCLF you must undo the lag fix before you flash, otherwise you will certainly loose data and possibly end up with a corrupt system that won't boot (I had first hand experience of this early on in my flashing days with my SGS!). You shouldn't really need to apply a lagfix to the SGT as it doesn't seem to suffer from the same lag as the SGS.
Finally, flashing with Odin can lead to product code being changed, especially if the ROM you flash isn't intended for the normal product code of your device. There are various ways to restore your poduct code, look in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for suggestions on how to do this as the basic construction of the ROMs is very similar between the two devices from that point of view. Also, be aware that people with SGS devices have reported loosing their IMEI while flashing with Odin. If this happens you will end up with a WiFi only device unless you backed up your /efs folder before you flashed. There's lots of info in the SGS forums about this and it's worth a read if you are new to flashing. I haven't heard of anyone with a SGT loosing their IMEI yet but it's worth taking precautions.
Happy flashing folks!!
thanks a bunch guys, I'm now running the latest version !!
was just trying to install the latest gingerbread theme from the forums !! will let you all know how that went

Go to the Android Development section.
Look up Overcome and BOCA for the Galaxy Tab. Both a great however I prefer BOCA. The current release is 2.3.4 but 2.3.7 is in the works.
If you follow the instructions for BOCA you will have a GTab that feels like it was newly born again.

Yes. Follow the instructions on the magrathea site or overcome
Use overcome instructions to instal stock GB 5. It tells you the pit and modem to use for your tab.
Then install the overcome kernel and reboot. It will root the tab and format the storage.
Then you install the Boca zip over the overcome kernel.
If you just want overcomes Rom follow their instructions. They make it simple
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
is that all??hmm,
will try donload all the files 1st,then i will try
thanks guyz for da info..
so i dont need to flash stock rom like i always do with my SGS before installing any custom rom?
Is it possible for someone to upload stock kernel file for 2.2.1 XXJPY (kernel version is 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1). Version that is flashable via odin, not cwm version.
I am about to flash my kernel with custom one, but would like to have stock kernel near me, just in case that something goes wrong...
Subquestion is:
is it even possible to reflash to stock kernel via odin once you fot custom one (speedmode to be precise)? I think i read somewhere on forum that it is not entirely possible. Does someone have any expirience with this?
Samfirmware (http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm) has all stock firmwares.
Yes of course you can flash back to stock, you just need to make sure that lagfixes are disabled if you enabled one.
But honestly, I'm 100% sure you won't go back to stock after flashing a custom kernel or rom, it's just that much better.

Thank you very much.
But, as I can see, on this page there are whole roms to flash, I wanted only kernel files. Could kernel be downloaded somewhere?
I'm on stock rom 2.2.1 with CF-root kernel.
Haven't seen a stock only-kernel when I searched for it recently on this forum.
I decided now to download the full stock rom from samfirmware instead which I can go back to in case Kies won't allow me to update to Gingerbread. I figured there's no big difference whether I flash a ROM (which includes the kernel) or just the kernel, the effort is the same.
I just learned that returning to stock ROM (kernel) will be little more difficult for me because my phone is T-mobile branded!
If I flash to a stock firmware does that mean kies will then recognise my firmware as offcial so I can download new updates through it. Thanks

You can always use SpoofFW to flash to your original firmware

No as its not the firmware that came with the phone nor its Kies update .
As post above only method once you use Odin is either a backed up copy of original firmware and yes a few backed up or spoof fw .
jje
Thanks for your help what do you mean by 'spoof' fw

Ok, this is my real problem. JJE might know solution to it...
Before i start flashing my kernel, ROM etc... I would like insurance that if in a couple of months something dies in my SGS, like speaker or something, I can go to repair shop and have guarantiee.
For that I would have to reverse all changes to virginly clean T-mobile branded ROM.
As I understand, to do that i would have to flash it via Odin with 3 files (PDA, PHONE and CSC).
Currently, when I type *#1234# in phone I get:
PDA - I9000BOJS5
PHONE - I9000XXJPY
CSC - I9000GCROJS4
so I presume that are the files version that must be flashed in Odin.
I managed to find all files except CSC code (for Croatian T-mobile 2.2.1 ROM). Couldn't find it anywhere.
Is it possible to put some Multi CSC and then later change it to right one ( I9000GCROJS4) with spooffw?
Or there is another way to find/backup/extract CSC from my current configuration.
Or another way to get back to stock branded ROM if anything goes wrong?
I can do nandroid backup because I cant get to CWM because i dont have 2e recovery (that is one of reasons I want to flash to another kernel, to get 3e and CWM).
Please help!
Hi, I own an i5800 wich I did flash with latest Kyrillos ROM.
Now I need to sell it, so I wanted to reset to its original firmware and I flashed to various Android 2.1 stock fw found on samfirware, in order to upgraded it with Kies.
Problem is that Kies always tells me
"this model can0t be upgraded"
I could flash it with a stock 2.2, but I wanted to let the future owner to use Kies to upgrade the phone.
Somwhere I read it is a problem of CSC and country so Kies does not recongise the availability of updates if check against CSC fails.
I am from Italy. How can I flash it to a correct fw/CSC ?
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in adavance!
Hi
I'm not sure but I think it must be related to the "product code".
The only way to repair your product code is to manipulate the nv_data.bin file with a hex editor.
for more information go here:

good luck
I don't remember where i have read that you'd better NOT flash back to Android 2.1 at random if you have a Android 2.2 on your device. It's will cause erro.
in your case, use ODIN
hello
i have now the litening 1.5
and i didn't backed up my stock rom
there is a way to back to stock rom now ?
my phone from clove.uk
(i know that it might be at www.samfirmware.com but don't know what to search....)
thanks
and sorry for the newbie question
Just flash KF2 in odin again (presuming thats the firmware you were on before litening rom) and you will be back on stock firmware with all your apps and data in tact.
do u mean this one ?
I9100XXKF2 ## EXT4.PIT 2.3.3 2011 June MULTI - CSC - OXAKF2 ?
and how can i be sure that this was my firmware ?
as i said ... my phone from clove.co.uk bought it on 9/6/2011 if it help
Hi I've byen wondering the same thing.
I flashed my phone before taking notice or backup of anything and so haven't a clue which versions my phone came with.
It is great that all the stock stuff is available but does not help me much as I have no clue whether, whatever I flash will be the same as what the phone came with...
I suppose that it is too late to think about that and not possible to find out exactly which combinations the phone came with from emei or serial no. or something like that..
by the way
if my friend bought the galaxy s II from clove 2 weeks after i did
it should be same firmware ?
(he didn't root it and flashed it yet....
then he still with the stock rom , it can help me ?
You can flash back to KE7 stock. This has been available via the official KIES Samsung channel.
Check the Development forum for stock firmware:

XWKE7
Firmware info
PDA:XWKE7
PHONE: XXKE4
CSC:XEUKD1 (XEU)
Build date: 18/05/2011
Generic XEU: http://www.multiupload.com/IBRBHDUDXI
MD5: F388DB98FC83861C2F22E607AE940DBB
and how i can really know that this is what i had before i flashed the litening 1.5 ?
and what about the kernel ?
should i need to do something about it ?
At the end of the day I don't think it matters what firmware you go back to as they are all pretty much the same with no major changes. If you are in the UK then it probably came with KE7 as that is the latest official ROM for this area. Litening ROM 1.5 is based on KF2, so flashing stock KF2 won't do any damage.
Before flashing anything do a backup just in case, but if you flash any PDA in odin none of your data will be wiped.
