Galileo support in future? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi. Does anyone knows will Motorola bring Galileo system (European alternative for GPS) support for G5 Plus in future? On this site in supported chipsets, I found SD625 but the only one supported Moto phone is Moto X4. Maybe Lenovo will bring it to our phones with Oreo update?

Does moto x style support Volte? If it does how to activate it?
Moto X Style's hardware does support VoLTE but it isn't enabled by Motorola as of yet. It will be enabled by a software update and that's not rolled out yet.
It does on Verizon and T-mobile (on the MXPE at least), although most reports are it is of poor quality. It does not work on Jio using VoLTE.

These are security patches, minor updates. Not upgrades... TBH, I know we are on the upgrade list for Nougat, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

Because Lenovo simply doesnt care about the users of Style.
They sold more units of X play as compare to style so to make more customers happy they are focusing on X play customer base.
My advice to you never buy Moto products any more.
I faced the same when Moto G 2014 got Lollipop update 4 5 months before moto X 2013.
I am facing the same with Moto X Style as well.
So I placed my phone in the box and got a Red Mi note 3. Believe me RN3 is better than Moto X Style (except display).
Say Bye bye to Lenovorola.

Galileo update for A2017G?

Hello,
For those registered on ZTE Germany, does anyone knows if/when ZTE plans to update to enable Galileo GNSS? The S820 is of course compatible.
We would gladly benefit from (nearly) sub-meter precision in Europe
Thanks!
I think ZTE has confirmed that the US model wouldn't be compatible with Galileo GNSS. Maybe the Global model is.
ZTE must release a firmware update and once Nougat becomes available, it should become compatible.

The HW is basically identical, so if they are going that route, it would be a software decision. It may be that the FCC/US Gov. doesn't want phones sold in the US to be compatibile, so that they have the control over the accessible GPS.
I asked them for galileo support, they said that it will not support galileo.
Later they said that the antennas from the Axon 7 ate not optimized for galileo support and that galileo is under construction and it would currently not yet cover the entire planet.
The thread for galileo support on the forums from zte Germany:

Does the Moto X Force (Droid Turbo 2) on Android 7.0 Nougat support VoLTE?

I've actually asked this question on a few existing threads but I haven't received any answers.
I just picked up the Moto X Force running 6.0 here in India on a sale, but it currently doesn't support VoLTE. I don't mind the wait, but it'll be absolutely useless for me if VoLTE is still unsupported post the upcoming Nougat update. If anyone could help me with this question, I'll be very grateful. Thanks in advance.
No. As far As I know for both Quark and Kinzie only Verizon VOLTE is supported on the Verizon stock firmware.
A lot of India people have tried to get VoLTE on the Moto Turbo XT1225 (India version of the Droid Turbo) and it doesn't work.
Same thing with Moto X Force, the international version of the Droid Turbo 2.
When Motorola updated the Quarks and Kinzies to Marshmallow they could have added general VoLTE support, just like the Verizon variants had on Verizon network, but they didn't. If they didn't a year ago they won't with Nougat either. They want you to buy a new phone, not give more functionality to an older phone.

Is it still worth Im getting a used one for 8k?? How it perform after 7.0 update??
where are you getting it for 8K! Im using one and will buy another.
As for the VoLTE is concerned im using Airtel 4G and use my phone on 3G to save battery VoLTE will not add some extra MBPS to your device.
Its performing as fluid on Android 6 no complaints

It works beautifully with the 7.0 update, I however sold it off as it was useless to me without VoLTE. 8k is a very good deal if VoLTE is not important for you.

Moto G4 Play or E4

Hi,
I'd like to buy a phone for my daughter (12y) and can't decide between the G4 Play and the E4. They are the exact same price here, and while it seems that the G versions are normally better than the E, the E4 seems to have the slight edge performance wise.
Can anyone enlighten me whether I should go for the G4 Play or the E4?
Thank you
Moto G4 Play is the better choice IMO, since it has a Snapdragon CPU, while Moto E4 has a MediaTek one. Snapdragon CPUs are generally faster, better-performing and more future-proof than MediaTek CPUs.

are you sure? everywhere I look it says Snapdragon (and a slightly faster one than the G4 Play)
edit: oh well, seems like there are 2 versions out there...
The Moto E4 has MediaTek, the E4 Plus has Snapdragon.
https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-e-plus-gen-4
"system architecture/processor
Quad-core 1.4 GHz , Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 427"
I think both E4 and E4 Plus outside the US both use Mediatek.
The regular (non Plus) version of the e4 (in the US) also uses a Qualcomm processor - Motorola's e4 page (full specifications near the bottom).
The international version (and the Plus variant) have a MediaTek processor. The international version and the Plus variant are also physically different from the US version, so if you buy a case online make sure you get the right one.
Some stores already reduced and cleared out their supplies of the carrier unlocked retail version G4 Play - Walmart had them for about $78 and Target had them for about $90, while the e4 is about $130.
For most phone apps they probably will work about the same. If picture taking is important (outer camera), the e4's camera has some weaknesses. Some e4 models have a fingerprint sensor, some don't. Both accept SD-cards, have headphone jacks, and removable batteries. The G4 Play comes with Android 6 (Marshmallow), and if you get the phone from your carrier it may or may not get 7 (Nougat). The e4 comes with Nougat out of the box.

VoLTE Support

When and if Moto G5 Plus will support VoLTE for Airtel India and Vodafone India. I see lower end companies like Techno, LeEco, Redmi supporting Airtel VoLTE. Moto G5 in India supports Jio VoLTE without any application. Not sure if it will support Vodafone, Airtel or Idea VoLTE and when will it be if yes. VoLTE is going to become common in year 2018 and having bought Moto G5 less than one year ago, if it does not support operator specific VoLTE it will be very sad.

Send SMS "4G CHECK" to 199 from your device( and vodafone sim in case of dual sim)
I did the same from moto g5 plus (aosp extended rom) and got response like "Your Mobile Handset supports 4G, but will not support VoLTE. Kindly upgrade your handset to experience Vodafone VoLTE."
Done that already. Vodafone has to provide firmware which handset manufacturer need to customize if required and push it. Not sure with whom it is pending Motorola or Vodafone. Moto E4 got update for Airtel VoLTE. Since then everything is in Cold storage.
