Dead after charging. - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi.
My Mi A1 is completely dead after charging. Its not responding when pushing the power button for a long time either.
No charge led , no nothing. It isnt even detected by the pc .
It was fully stock, no root or bootloader unlock.
To my knowledge this dosent look very promising.
Have any of you experienced this, is there any hope?
Thanks

?
Try connect ur phone to Linux machine and check if linux kernel can detect anything if not ur phone dead.
U need need to change motherboard or rewrite emmc partitioning data.
Maybe the battery empty and ur phone type c port damaged?
Maybe ur phone shocked be electricity ? and cpu damaged.
I just had given u all the options...

Is it in warranty period? If yes send it back.

I think your phone is in EDL MODE
Try to connect it to the laptop and see if they recognize it if yes flash it with miflash tools

It is but i bought it on Ali Express. Thats really not an option.
I think i buy another one and keep this one for spare parts.
Its the first time this has happened to me,and this one was total stock.
I have flashed the cr,,, out of many dozens of phones
but always been able to unbrick them.
I guess i was out of luck and something went wrong with the cable or charger.
Thanks

Yes, problem is not on cables, as the same ones, can charge other phones. I bet i't the micro usb port on phone is loose or something, because when i press a bit harder the phone starts up, but there's no battery so stay awake... I hope this falls under warranty man...
Test pull-out the baterie wait 15 seg and put it.
Test charging on another X5.
It happened something similar to my first Huawei U8800. It only switched on when I remove my battery and plug the AC charger. I went to the store and they exchanged it..
Seems like i've got the same problem. My X5 doesn't charge since last night. Did you find the solution for your phone?
PROBLEM SOLVED. The 2 chargers i tried was both broken

[Q] Nexus 4 Charging Slowly

Hi all,
I have a Nexus 4 phone for 6 months, and I love it. But yesterday i got something very very annoying. I almost cant charge my phone. I plug my N4 at wall, with original cable and charger, but after something like 30 seconds, it says I have usb connection, and doesnt charge. The temperature is ok, i already tried factory reset, but nothing works. I see that it doesnt charge even if device is shut down. I tried other cables, but the problem persists. I can connect it via USB, and I can access and modify files, but it slow charge, or even discharges.
I am afraid its a cell phone problem, because where I live, I dont have RMA service.
Thank you very much!
Prints: http://imgur.com/XJwf56z,G9ezJjr,oyP7wyQ
In chronological sequence, I posted three images of what happens. It says battery health is good.
If it's not cable fault maybe it's from the wall charger.
Can you try with other wall charger? i.e Samsung, LG, Asus...
If you've installed a custom kernel you could try to enable the FastCharge hack.

Hi
If you tried different cables ( and chargers) and is not conecting to the pc it may be the usb port in your phone...maybe is just dirty if not it maybe loose or defective , take it to a local service shop to be replaced....
I guess thats only thing left... the funny part there is no animation of charging but it charges a lil bit much slower then usualy... but ... i guess it is the usb port
But the weird part is,.. when i turn off the phone and plug the cable in it says charging then turns on the phone and then again no charge....

you can always take it apart and check it out.....if it looks to hard just take it to the shop , soldering in those boards is not easy if you do not have experience...

Why doesn't my oneplus two charge properly

When i charge my oneplus two these days, i found that time taken to fully charge my phone becomes longer. The voltage is lower than usual. Its normally 4.1v, but these days its 3.187v. Besides, every few minutes, the phone doesn't charges and i have to adjust the cables and turn the switch on off again and again. Its frustrating. Please tell me why this happened. I just bought this phone a month ago. And this is my first smart phone

Yes, the cable and charger was in the box when i bought my phone. And take backup and try factory reset means buy a new cable and send the original cable back to the factory?

Umm.. no
All your data... like wifi passwords, google account, contacts(not media, when anyone says media, it means they are referring to photos, videos, music and documents) will be erased if you perform a factory reset.
Factory reset clears all your settings, accounts, downloaded apps, and app data.
EDIT: Report back, I'll assist you.
Also are you charging it from wall charger or PC/Laptop?

Im charging it from a wall. And the charging speed is very slow. I asked other guys on other websites, they said that it might be the cable that is malfunctioning. But im still a beginner and doesn't know much. Besides, if i have to perform a factory reset, how long will it take because i don't have a backup phone.

Factory reset takes a couple of minutes before the phone has formated the data partition and rebooted.

Yes, factory reset will not take more than 13mins.
How are you measuring voltage and current?
I'm having the same problem, i tried a factory reset and it was not solved. Now im going to try and flash a 6.0 Rom (Bliss Rom) and see if it gets fixed.

I downloaded a app called du battery saver. It controls and shows me ge voltage when i charge it and how often i charge it. But these days i can't charge properly and it keeps discharge when there's a slight movement when I'm charging.

No you don't need to pay for factory reset. Factory reset is a part of Android Code. You can find it in Settings > Backup & Reset. <-Do this only if you have back up.

to be honest, DU battery save is the worst thing you can download. Unistall it and try charging..
my device charges in around 2hrs.. how much is it taking to you for full charge?
later try this app for measuring current.

later use this app instead of Du Battery Saver

So, what did u do?
My less than a week old OPT is displaying similar issues. I think its the cable... If I use Ampere to check the amps, on the OPT with the stock cable, it averages about 180-200ma for a few minutes and then says power disconnected. Unplugging and replugging will again prompt the charging to begin, shows very low ma and finally same thing. The device just won't charge when powered on. However if I turn it off, the charging icon stays on for a long time, so perhaps the software is telling it to disconnect the charger when the input received is too low. Not sure if its okay to charge with the phone off and at very low ma, but I may have no option at the moment.
I know the charger is not the problem because I installed Ampere on my Samsung tablet and tried the same charger (stock OPT) with the samsung type b cable. 1400ma it was averaging. Tried the OPT stock cable with another charger as well as a battery pack, same thing, less than 200ma for a few minutes and then zzzzzzz ...
To make absolutely sure its the cable and not the phone, I've ordered a Type C adapter. Hopefully will receive it tomorrow and can rule out a phone problem. In the meantime, I am also asking around to see if any of my friends might have a Type C cable. If they do, can check against that also.
UPDATE: Tested with friend's Type C cable from his Xiaomi 4C. Works perfectly. The cable is defective. Amazon is giving me a free cable, so all is well ... for now

I personally had this problem and also my cable pin used to pop out ad soon as i plug it into the port of phone. Then i read that oneplus 2 USB c is not according to standard dimensions. Oneplus ceo said that he'll replace the cables free of cost. I sent it and got repaired.
Thus contact the oneplus service and they'll reply you!
And other than that, don't plug the charger into an extension as the power supply is limited.
If u are really unable to wait for full charge, turn on airplane mode or switch off and charge it (which is worse i guess )

There is no way to fixed the Oneplus original defective cable, it has a tiny resistor built into it which has the wrong resistance which can confuse the phone into believing it is connected to PC USB which brings down the maximum charging rate as not to cause a fire or damage the "USB port".

Nexus 6p charging: original cable only when cable inserted in one particular way

It is hard to describe, but I am desperate about this issue as Google/Huawei and Dealer say things that I cannot understand.
With the Nexus 6p I got 2 cables: USB-C-to-UCB-C (similar, symmetric ends) and USB-C-to-USB-2/3 (for the MAC/PC, not similar ends).
I am pretty sure that the issue started since one of the OTA updates, but take it as speculation.
The issue: if I connect the phone to a MAC it starts charging no matter how I insert the USB-C end into the phone itself (let's say the C end has two surfaces - I am talking about ONE end of the cable) BUT when I connect the phone to the wall charger via USB-C-USB-C cable it starts charging only in one particular position of the cable and does not start if I insert the cable while turning one end upside-down (surface 1 - there is charging, surface 2 of the same end does not charge in the same upward position)! The issue appears even if swipe the ends.
If the USB port in the phone was faulty - I would expect the issue to appear with both cables, but the issue appears only with C-C cable. Moreover, I went to the store where I bought the phone and they used THEIR C-C cable with the same issue
They say me: "charge the phone in this position only"! But the idea of USB-C is symmetry, thus I do not understand what the issue is.
Could someone suggest any technical explanation??
is it the wall brick that came with the phone? if so, I would say the brick is bad.
charging works fine here with usb c to usb c and wall brick regardless of how either end is plugged in, even swapping which end is plugged into the brick makes no difference.

thanks for the answer, Unfortunately... the issue is still there with another charger (power bank)... so I am still confused.
Unfortunately, if you have tried every possible combination of cables and chargers and the issue persists, then there must be something wrong with your phone. The only thing I might suggest is to do a factory reset. And if that doesn't work, you'll have to contact support for a replacement. They'll likely request that you try a factory reset before they'd replace it anyhow.

I was reading your original post again and I agree that it seems unlikely that it's an issue with the usb port if the problem isn't there when you charge with a PC. Have you tried a non Google charger or maybe a custom ROM? It's just a shot in the dark but I would cover all bases before sending it back.

The phone is under warranty this is why I won't try custom roms etc. I tried power bank and the issue persisted. For me it is very strange - how the PC cable can provide power no matter how I insert C-end, and the USB-C-USB-C cable works only in one particular way (as I described)...
I am afraid that if I send to phone to Huawei they will not check it (will not turn the cable upside down) and will return it as is...

Trying a custom ROM won't affect your warranty. If it doesn't work you can always flash the stock Google image and relock your bootloader before sending it back.

I am desperate... I've got another C-C cable - the issue persists on 2 chargers while connecting the phone (the original and power bank). The power bank charges itself while connected to the original charger via C-C cable (in any combination of connections) , thus nor cable, not original charger are faulty.
What I fail to understand, WHY USB-2/3-to-USB-C charging is working no matter how I insert USB-C end.
In my understanding there is something with usb C-C charging and phone together %(
I do not know what to do... I am sure if I send the phone to Huawei it will come back as "no faults found"...
Finally, I sent the phone to the manufacturer and they found the charging port was faulty - they repaired it and the phone is on its way back.
Thanks for the update
