Back to stock FW - Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
i tested some cutom Rom but want to get back to Stock. I only have to install it with Odin? CSC is not needed or? Where can I find the right version for my Phone?

If you go to updato.com or sammobile.com and put in your region and carrier, it gives you a zip with all 4 firmware files you need. (AP, BL, CSC and CP)
It's best to ensure you use all 4 from the same firmware, but having a different CSC won't hurt. It's the carrier firmware settings, so you'll need the right one for things like VoLTE

+1 why xda dont have Stock ROM's? is it illegal?
Try looking at sammobile.com, it appears to have all newest firmwares.
2 options :
1. You can ask at your local butchers store
2. Google is your friend

Correct. As long as you use the CSC file and not the HOME_CSC file.

I want to flash the latest firmware for the S7 Edge - https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/122404/G935FXXU1DQB3_G935FOXA1DQB1_BTU/
Anything I must pay attention in Odin or just flash it the normal way?
Also, in the instructions they say to use odin v3.11.1, is it ok if I use the latest odin which is v3.12.3, or it's better if I use the version they used to avoid any surprise problems?

Just flash all 4 files, ignoring HOME_CSC.
Any Odin version should be fine.

Serious help needed for s7 edge. Calling all the senior developers and members.

I have an s7 edge (G935W8) which is from canada. I am using it in india right now. I want to get volte working on my device which from searches i've found that i need to have indian firmware installed on my phone.
So i tried several firmwares, MM and N also, but no luck with odin. It is giving errors straight away ( repartition operation failed and oltht). Tried different firmwares, only ap and csc, repartition ticked and unticked and all the stuff that i've founded on the internet.
I don't want to root, i want only official Indian firmware on my S7 EDGE from CANADA (SM-G935W8).
Please guys help me out with that. I want it done.

So many videos out there for the other countries for changing the csc. Why not for canadian one?
because G935W8 have csc for canadian carriers, not same csc as G935F the international one

Yes, you can get back to the stock firmware from custom ROM. All of the stock firmwares/os are here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and can be flashed with odin, resetting the phone to factory default state, i.e. as you buy it now and without any info on it. No matter if it was custom ROM or not before that.

Depends on the model. If on the site there is canadian firmware for that model of the s7 - can be done via odin. If the phone is specific and there is no canadian firmware - can't be done.

Odin Flashing?

I was able to get my hands on the U.S. non carrier firmware for the G950U. The question is, without OEM unlock option, will it successfully flashed via Odin? Has anyone already tried? If so, what was the result?
can you share this firmware ?

Yes. I have the same version. Not having the oem is like having it ticked on. So you are good to go. Would love to get my hands on that firmware so I can start testing. I also need G955U. Any chance of a link or mention of where you got it?

I can upload and post link, which may take awhile, or you can use SamFirm ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647 ), which is the same program I used to download the odin firmware. I cheated by using SamMobile to confirm CSC code to input into SamFirm and the program will download the odin file and decrypt it to allow for extraction.
For instance, I downloaded SM-G950U/TMK Firmware, which is the USA variant, but, in theory, lacks the TMB system bloatware.
But to get an update to my attempt to Odin De-bloat my S8, I have a suspicion that USERDATA no longer lives within AP, instead it has its own Partition within the Full Odin Firmware, thus, meaning that simply flashing AP, BL, and CP from a Non-US Carrier firmware will NOT remove the carrier system bloatware. Until there is a Odin build released that allows for flashing the USERDATA.tar.md5, the TMB bloat remains after flashing the Generic Odin firmware. But you guys are more than willing to try a find a way to flash the firmware to change the CSC code from TMB to TMK, USC, or whomever does not load carrier bloat into their build.

So I can use Odin to apply any ota? I'm using an att variant with a cricket sim, and I can't get any updated and smart switch shows that I have latest version, but there are reports of att releasing an att for the device

Why is the settings app like this?

So I ran into a bootloop issue and flashed stock firmware via Odin on my Galaxy S8 Specifically the (G950FXXU1AQDG_G950FEVR1AQDG_EVR) on my (SM-G950FD). It was successful. However, settings app was cluttered now. I am having all the options and not the categorized one. It's like having duplicates. I already did re-flash the firmware and did reset to factory default settings but it's still the same. I cannot get back the previous one that was properly categorized.
Anyone know how to fix / change this?

before, settings was organized into categories but now, all settings under those categories are also available outside. See those Airplane Mode,Wifi,Bluetooth,Data Usage,Mobile Network,More. They were supposed to be under or inside "Connections" category.
Strange indeed, on some phones in the top right corner of the settings page you should have a 3 dot menu that allows you to pick a different view but this view is ridiculous.
i had this issue on my s7 right after i flashed my country's CSC via odin, was using full BTU software including CSC but when i flashed Egypt's CSC on BTU firmware this happened, simple solution is to try flashing a different country's CSC and see if the problem is resolved

I was thinking of maybe CSC could be the reason but when i have flashed back to stock, i only flashed the AP, BL, and CP. Is it okay to only flash CSC? Also, my phone is currently rooted right now. Would it be an issue?

dont think root would be an issue or related to it, i know it was the CSC cause i only flashed CSC right before it happened, and when i flashed back BTU CSC settings came back to normal

try downloading this BTU Software-
try flashing BTU files (the same files you flashed before with New Zealand's firmware) if it's still there then i guess you gotta flash CSC with a factory reset, at least this is how it worked for me on my S7
