I left my phone in my car yesterday while I ran into a building and did some work. I left it because I know that there is zero signal where I was working. When I returned I had no service and it said no sim up in the corner. This is the 2nd time I have seen this. My work phone which was laying right next to it was still working just fine. They weren't in the direct sun. Anyone else see this issue? I'll definitely try and avoid this in the future.

I've had a Universal for about a year and a half (maybe two) now and have become really, really reliant on it. I used to complain a lot about its sluggishness, low voice call quality and huge size, but now that it's got a problem I can't live without it!! "Normal" cellphones are a huge downgrade!!
I dropped my Universal without its case some weeks ago, and the battery cover, battery and sim card all flew away in the hard floor. When putting everything together again, it feels a bit loose, and the red thingy that holds the battery in place is not nearly as stable now. But what happens now is that, at random intervals, I get an "Invalid or no simcard" message and cannot use the phone features. If I turn the radio off then on, it sometimes works again but sometimes doesn't. I've used it as a phone for a day working perfectly and then I begin to get the message again. I sometimes get it right after turning on the device.
I tried stiffening the device with a miniscrewdriver but I cannot get to the screws that are loosened. I also tried other things believing the problem was the physical contact of the Simcard with the reader. Unfortunately the problem continues.
I live in Mexico but will be travelling to America June 21 through 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? I'd also be willing to pay for a repair assuming I can send the device by FedEx from Mexico now, and get it back to my hotel late June when I go to America. Does anyone know a repairshop which might do that? Thanks a lot!
I've been experiencing the intermittent "No GSM" problem, and I'm pretty sure it's the mainboard (it started after I dropped the phone). Already opened the phone a few times / reflashed Radio etc...
Does somebody know where can I find a board for a HTC TyTN (Hermes 200) on the internet?
Thanks for the help!
i would be interested in this too
Maybe you could consider buying one with a cracked screen or so from eBay, just in case you can't figure out where to get a complete mainboard from...

I've considered that, but than I have the risk of having a bad motherboard as well. I'd prefer to get a new one as a replacement part. I did that in the past with the D-PAD controller and had success with it. Can't find a motherboard anywhere thou... Any ideas? Help!!
Motherboard
Hey there.. I too want a new motherboard.. I dropped my 8525 and the speaker, left side of the keypad and SD card slot stopped functioning. I took off the cover and reconnected the speaker..even lifted the MB off..But still with the same problem except that the speaker works and that the Unit gets very hot near the SD slot...I surfed and surfed without any finds of a MB..
So any ways broke out the Wizard for awhile , dug deep down and just bought a Kaiser ( the real one from HTC ).....
So any else have any clue at all on how to get a Hermes MB?...

i'm iterested too
I am in a different position. I NOW HATE THESE UNITS LIKE POISON
I have three 8225s which I am getting really sick of constantly reflashing and finding out that something doesnt work, whatever it is.
Sometimes it is the whole screen going white eight times our of ten boots, sometimes NO GSM, sometimes it flashes properly and runs properly, starts up with all GSM numbers showing correctly and then goes into its configuration cycle only to end up with NO GSM on reboot or some kind of freeze.
I want to know where I can get rid of these things: I am in New York. Is the only place to try them on ebay? Might involve a considerable (not worthwhile) learning curve?
Has anyone had any luck contacting other flashers on craigslist? Or is there a place on this forum where I can get rid of them for a reasonable price?
I also have a few Wizards (as well as a working Wizard G4 main board) and a Blue Angel which has NEVER worked properly in the 4 years since I Have had it. However with persistence and playing around while doing other things (like watching TV), I DO have it finally working properly on all functions and have given it to my offspring. The sheer amount of playing around with it to get it working properly has convinced me that it definitely wont be worthwhile trying to get the Hermes' to work!
Oh and I forgot to mention.....

In addition to all this, I use most regulatly a Wing. A few years ago I broke the screen and HTC sent me a new chassis for whatever reason. When I switched screens, the unit with the slightly broken screeen worked, it just had a chip like break at the top corner. I could still use it. Recently I put the battery back in and hey presto! it now doesnt work at all
So what happened to the working one? The battery pins on it stopped 'pinging' today, which I take to mean that the connections no longer work. The unit suddenly stopped working on putting the battery back in it.
So who needs a few Wing chassis as well??

Heading should be whole load of units, mostly working, to get shot of.
Hi. I'm using the cyan 5.0.6 and intersects kernel, the problem I have is phone calls drop now and then I can hear the other person, but they can not hear me for a few minutes, then the call comes back, anyone else having this problem. I have full signal all the time so its not that.
I see you're on T-Mobile in South East England like myself.
I and my family have also had this issue for a few weeks. Happens on 3 different T-Mob handsets so nothing to do with the mobile.
This has been reported to T-Mobile who have now said that there are more reports of this happening (I believe in the South East) and it is being looked into urgently.
Might be worth reporting it to them so they can link it with the main incident!
hi, im on virgin mobile network, but virgin does run across the tmobile network, so it could be that, i dont remember haVing these issues when i first got the device. im sure its not my phone, cause sometimes i dont get the problem other times i will.
are you holding your hand around the bottom of the phone, covering the internal antenna? the nexus has an issue where the antenna is ssensitive to the hand and can cause signal loss and drop outs if your hand covers the antenna. try holding from the middle or top and leave the bottom exposed.
yer cheers, but i hold my phone in the middle, i know of this problem, thankyou anyway.
The same happened to me couple of times in the past weeks, usually around my house. Strong signal, not covering antennas with my hand. People couldnt hear me, while I was able to hear them, then the call is back if they didnt hung up in the meantime... It doesnt happen that often though, so it doesnt bother me too much (let's say it happened once every10 calls of 30 mins or more).
I might have to contact Tmob if it get worse though !
I am in Sun Diego, CA btw ...
Hi all,
I recently replaced my screen with one off ebay. So far, so good. Screen looks great and I'm happy to have my phone back after a month with a cheap zte blade. However I make my first call, screen stays on as usual, put the phone up to my ear, screen turns off, I go to put it on speaker and the screen stays off. Ok, I guess there's some dust in the proximity sensor. I make another call, and the screen stays on until I put it up to my ear, so it seems it's working again. Once more, I go to end the call but the screen stays off again. Weird, I thought it was working. So I download sensors test app. When I open the app, it shows the sensor reading far. When I put my hand up to the sensor, it reads near. When I take my hand away, it remains reading near. If I turn my phone in the side it goes back to reading far. Put my hand up to it and it reads near again, and sticks when I take my hand away. If I switch apps and come back it reads far again.
I was on 7.1.1 beta, so I downloaded Feb 7.1.1 and the problem is still there. I have limited monthly data so was hoping somebody may have some ideas before I download another factory image. I have already tried proximity sensor fix app.
Thanks

My phone does that. I thought it was normal behavior. You can download an app that keeps the screen on for whatever apps you choose. The one I use is called Screen Manager Pro but there are others that do the same thing.
No screen protector right? Have a look at thread and see if it may pertain to you. Particularly the part about the missing grommet over the proximity sensor.

OK, I am missing the grommet and unfortunately threw away the old screen already

I'm not sure how you can make one. It seems the guy in that thread didn't have much luck. See if an official repair center is near you and if they are maybe they would sell you a grommet? Or repair it for you worst case. I bet they are aware of how critical that piece is.

Well, the bad news is, I live in a very small rural area so no repair centre nearby. However, the good news is, since I live in a very small rural area, I went to the rubbish dump and asked about the collection from my street. The bags from my house were right near the entrance with no other trash on top of them! I retrieved the old screen, went home and cleaned up and installed the grommet and I am back in business!
I never thought I would be so happy to trawl through a garbage dump but here we are. Thanks for pointing out what the problem was!

You retrieved the grommet from your city dump. That is pretty legendary!
I currently have a ZTE Zmax Pro with the carrier MetroPCS. Recently, my phone was damage due to being hit by a truck. The screen was completely shattered and quite honestly looked like a spiderweb on the entire screen. One corner was bent a bit and the part of the motherboard that was there broke off (Only one prong in the top left-hand corner which is shown in a picture provided). Besides that, no other visual damage occurred.
To try and avoid the $80 + shipping that ZTE charges to repair a phone, I tested all of my hardware in my brother's identical ZTE Zmax Pro. After swapping everything, I made sure that everything worked normally (besides my service because my SIM was destroyed) and it did. No issues whatsoever. So I ordered a replacement screen and shell for around $40 off of Ebay and when they arrive, I put the phone together.
My phone worked perfectly for about an hour. I began experiencing problems with my WiFi. I couldn't see it in the scanner, then I could see it but couldn't connect, and eventually when I could connect, it wouldn't stay connected.
I have tried multiple fixes found online such as resetting my phone and changing from dhcp to static IP.
If anyone can point me in the right direction of getting this fixed, preferably without sending it to ZTE as I don't have the money for this, it would be greatly appreciated.
This is the picture of the motherboard.
Update: I've noticed that when I took out my microSD card, my WiFi finally connected and I haven't lost connection since. I'm not entirely sure if the microSD card is the cause of my WiFi issue, but for now I am going to leave my microSD out unless the issue appears again.
