Overall speed - LG V30S Real Life Review

Would you say that the LG V30S is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the LG V30S exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

Come over to the "V30" forum and we'll show you how to manually update your "V30" phone. Takes 5 minutes.
This phone is just a V30+ with more RAM. Same stock KDZ as all the US998 V30/V30+. For the "US998" series,
* V30 is US998,
* V30+ officially is US998U (but we still call it US998)
* V30S is US998R.
But all the "US998" run the SAME KDZ. Over in the V30 forum, we have the latest KDZ for US998 V30S, which you can do simple "upgrade" with via LGUP, just like an OTA update.
______
V30S is just another "JOAN" V30. There's no good reason why XDA created a separate forum for the JOAN V30S. All the other V30S owners are over in the V30 forum, where they should be. That's why this is empty dead town.
Whereas the V35 is a completely different phone -- and should have been given its own forum, but wasn't. Yet the V30S is just another US998 V30 and yet strangely was given its own forum. V30S has the SAME KDZ as the other US998 "V30" variants, same bootloader unlock and root method as the other V30, same JOAN TWRP, same custom ROMs.

Shouldn't this change as you can now unlock your bootloader directly from Nokia? nokia.com/en_int/phones/bootloader
This would definitely change somewhat if you actually could unlock the bootloader for this phone.
You can't unlock the Nokia 7 Plus at this moment though, Nokia only allows unlocking for a limited selection of their phones.

Updated huawei p20
Looking forward to purchase it and then will submit review
Nothing to say yet, it's not released globally yet!
I ordered mine (64gb) yesterday for 500 USD (Switzerland). The store says, the wont have it before the 24. May. Can't wait!
Although I don't care too much: There are conflicting information, whether there is/will be a 4gb version or not.
The store I ordered from only has a 4GB model, the 4 other swiss stores, where you can preorder it, only have the 6gb model.
On the Chinese Honor website there are only 6gb versions...
The community development strength will be the same as for other Honor models: completely hyped by XDA because they whored themselves out to Huawei, but in reality it is non-existent.

I just got my Honor 10. The AI camera is awesome.
Considering the fact that Honor as of late has been very supportive of development, I hope to see lots of development once this phone launches globally.
The Honor View 10 had a very paced Honor Open Source Program, partnered with XDA and produced some great custom ROMs for the device. I really hope Honor 10's development to be better considering the Open source program has already been announced.
Development will definately be good because it is treble enabled device so lts of roms will come to this device
Development will probably be similar to other recent honor devices (including those with treble support): virtually non-existent. There might be a custom rom or two, but just an initial release, and that will be it.
great phone honor 10
I come from china, i must say it is nothing really good than this, i am very satisfied with my honor 10, ok,not say too much ,i got to play king of glory now, master segment frame is waiting me to get.
If you're looking for a development-friendly phone, Honor is not the solution for you. We do have a program where we give out bootloader unlock codes to a select number of people every once in a while, but there is no official support for unlocking your bootloader. This results is a very small development community.

LG V35 Root?

Is there any hope on the horizon of root , for the att v35? or atleast the ability to flash a debloated ROM?
Any ongoing projects in the works that I can keep up with or donate to?

Well, this is not the V35 forum. It's the V30 forum.
The LG V35 (Snapdragon 845/JudyP) is basically a G7 (Snapdragon 845/JudyN) which sort of looks like a V30 (Snapdragon 835/Joan). But really V35 (JudyP) has nothing to do with the V30/V30+/V30S (Joan) series.
To debloat the AT&T V35, you can cross flash the open market V35 KDZ (which is debloated) with the AT&T V35 -- like we do with the AT&T V30 (H931) and US998 V30. Theoretically this would also carrier unlock it.. I suggested that here in this thread, and was eventually told YES it would debloat it, but not carrier unlock it. He says he uses an Octopus box. However, due to the guy's first response, I still don't quite believe he knows what he's talking about. He only came up with that information after I called him out on his first answer.
Go read the thread...

We can all hope but nothing yet. Your best bet would be to keep up with LG g7 devrlopement as if they have a breakthrough it'll most likely work with our v35 or the v40.

LG Freaking Pathetic

I would never have believe a company the size of LG would let their smartphone business become so pathetic. My backup phone is an Essential PH-1 which is now two years old, first released May '17, and as of this AM I'm rocking Q Beta3 on a TWO YEAR old phone while LG hasn't even managed to get a supposed FLAGSHIP device (v35), released May '18, to Android Pie.
Who the F******* is running LG????????????????????????????????? What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!
Just unlock the bootloader and let the XDA community handle your business LG 'cause you obviously can't.
lg sucks butt

LG does make great phones -- great hardware, great features. The V30+ (128GB internal memory) especially was the best phone of 2017... They are just terrible at Android OS updates.
On the V30, they HAVE to give Android security updates at least every 3 months for 3 years. And they have pretty much done that.
And they HAVE to give all V30 variants PIE (also in the same agreement), but there was no date requirements on THAT.
V35 didn't have those promises in writing like the V30 did...

Here's another F******g joke, turns out only the Korean model G8 is able to flash Q Beta3 according to post on the XDA G8 forum.
Send it to lg ..i just sent them some advice that was similar to this ..unlock the bootloader

Why so little custom roms here?

Why is there almost no custom roms for the lg35 here compared to the lg v30 which has a lot?
Are they backwards compatible?

No. They are two totally different phone series. V35 is more related to V40 and G8 internally than V30. The G8/V35/V40 are Snapdragon 845 "Judy" phones. V30 is "Joan" Snapdragon 835.
Why no ROMs? Took too long to get root, too hard, and V35 initially was only released for AT&T in U.S. Developers moved on to easier phones, distributed more widely.
I'd add a few more factors that stacked the deck against development for the V35.
It had a more geographically limited release than its siblings, the V40 and G7. Europe was not on the list and those phones are BL unlockable out of the box. Those phones really prime developer activity. The release in the US was by AT&T, Google, and later Amazon so limited there, too.
There are impending 3G shutdowns coming in NA so making phone calls will require VoLTE. Dev's have yet to reverse engineer the LG radio interface so that VoLTE can be supported on AOSP roms. Rooted stock is where I am for this reason and the same probably applies to anyone with LG V and G models soon enough, EoY 2020 for Verizon subscribers.
Lastly, there was the whole A/B slot transition with removal of the recovery partition.
Changes to TWRP had to be made.
Unless there are serious changes are forthcoming, this is my last LG phone. IMO, no A10 is the biggest strike against the V35.

I'm using the Korean Android 10 on my AT&T LG V35. Aside from the loud camera shutter sounds which cannot be disabled (law in Korea), I have found no major annoyance. 4 months now on Android 10.

Wait, is this confirmed? I thought they were at last eventually going to release A10 for the NA firmwares, is this not the case anymore? Edit: btw, I second the sentiment, this is my first LG phone but also my last. Their stock OS is kind of ackward in weird ways... it's not very polished. I came from a cheap lowmid Huawei phone and their OS was still very polished when compared to this LG. Huawei knew where to add "proprietary" utilities and where not to. The upgrade was still worth it because of the performance boost though.

Were you able to root it?
It seems unlikely after so much time that an NA version of A10 will be released by LG. It is kind of moot at this point. Thanks to @cloud1250000 it is possible to flash the Korean A10 rom. Just follow his/her guide to localize to NA, CA or probably other regions. It works great!
Happy New Year!

I was not thinking on using that Korean A10 rom but since I have to reinstall my rom anyways might just give it a go. Can I go back to pie or oreo after installing the korean rom? I think I read it wasn't possible.
Yes, flashing back to Pie works fine.
