Bro,
Had some doubts before i flash:
1) You mentioned do clean wipe and flash that ROM. Do i need to install stock recovery and stock kernel before that? I have custom recovery (CWM) installed right now.
2) After installing your this ROM will my phone be official, unrooted? Will i be able to get the official OTA updates in the future?
Please let me know.

Done and running official 5.0.2 now. Hope will be getting future official updates from now on. Thanks a ton bro. :good::good::good:
I flashed the the 122 mb update and got the error, but it was fine when I flashed the OTA LP again and flashed the incremental right after it.
But unfortunately (or fortunately ) my Mac address was lost had to flash a custom kernel to make it work. Was it the same for you?
And I don't see much difference with the phone, the battery lasts around 8-9 hours on games (heating is still on).
I do like to know if there's any difference for you guys

Recently got Moto X pure, and I'm loving it. Now I've rooted before, but I really don't much experience with this, (since that phone never got an OTA update, afterwards or bootloader unlocked). I wanted to ask, When it comes to rooting, Does the Operating system it is on matter? I did the OTA update from 5.1.1 to 6.0 and I'd like to root my phone now. Do I just follow a 5.1.1 guide, or is there something else I have to do? Thanks!
Dont follow the guide on youtube thats for lollipop!
---------- Post added at 09:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:58 AM ----------
Unlocking the bootloader is the same though, then search to trupure on the forums, its a really good minimalistic rom for the moto x pure
I would read the 6.0 thread, the twrp thread and the kernel thread to get started.

Once your bootloader is unlocked, flash a custom ROM with SuperSU baked in.

Restore a backup and flash 2.62-3. The others seem to cause issues like the one you're experiencing.

What's confusing though is he states in section 4 the steps are only for lollipop. To go to another link for Marshmallow. Is that still the case or can we flash Beta SuperSU the old fashioned way through TWRP? I took the MM update while on stock. I have since unlocked bootloader and installed latest TWRP. Just making sure nothing has changed.

Rooting the MXPE on MM requires systemless root because, for it to work, a modified/patched boot.img has to be flashed along with SuperSU.
The most recent versions of SuperSU patch the boot.img automatically.
If you follow the link to those MM instructions, you will find the systemless root method option. Follow the link at the top of that systemless root thread to download BETA_Super SU v.2.62-3, which is confirmed to work on our Moto XPE without issues.
Once you download it, you can flash it normally via TWRP. Profit.
Hope this helps.

That worked perfectly, THANK YOU! Found BETA_SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip, flashed via TWRP and worked like a charm. I got so confused by all the variants of devices....XT1572, XT1575, Brazil, India, US, Lollipop, Marshmallow, TWRP... I really appreciate the help!
I just updated to MM and I'm so lost in the mess we have to go through to root. It seems the only method of using SuperSU is systemless. If there's a method that does involve /system I much prefer that. I've been getting random reboots on my device that occur with no pattern. And sometimes some root functions will work while other times they completely fail without notice. Is there an alternative stable method of root or at least a solution to the problems occurring? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Which version of SuperSU did you use? As far as I know you cannot just flash SuperSU in TWRP for MM. I would go here and read up first if you want systemless root... http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/wip-systemless-root-t3263405 but if you just want a rooted device then go to the many threads that have pre-rooted twrp backups or just flash a rooted rom in twrp. Hope this helps you.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...rom-stock-rooted-debloated-x1575-6-0-t3262242 It's on the OP. But it's just rooted and NOT the systemless root you are looking for but it may give you a head start...

As an alternative to the link posted above, here is a link to vx2ko's stock MM with traditional root. The ROM is amazing. Been using it for about a week and I highly recommend it. If you're coming from systemless root you most definitely need to clean flash/factory reset before flashing the ROM.
I've been on the game for far too long, but there seems to be a confusion when
it comes to rooting this phone. All my previous phones have been fairly easy to root.
I read around a lot of forums but they have outdated information or are for Lollipop.
I have a Stock Moto X Pure edition on Marshmallow. To root this guy do i just have to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP recovery image via adb and then flash the latest version of SuperSU?
or do i need additional steps?
Thanks in advance
Do steps 9 onwards and you should be OK

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I find the available info confusing. I'm on stock MM with TWRP 2.8.7.1 installed. Looking at steps 9 on from the link above mentions flashing a modified boot image for systemless root to work with 2.52. I think the latest SuperSU (2.66? modifies the boot image, making flashing the modified unnecessary.

Im wondering this same thing, from what i've seen in posts we should be able to flash SuperSU 2.66 on a stock rom with TWRP and root should work.
I just want someone to confirm if this does actually work. I dont really want to deal with boot loops and having to restore all over again.
Thats y i went with trupurexmm rom. And skipped the sytemless root. Follow post three above

I have flashed 2.66 on a stock rooted rom and also on an AOSP rom. Works on both
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I've had a look but couldn't find anything. But does anyone have a guide to updating from OOS 2.2.0 to the new 3.0 rom without losing root or two?
I currently have boefla kernel installed too so I'm not a complete novice, but I'm a bit unsure on how to update to the new rom and retain root and TWRP. I'm a mac user so ideally I'd like to find a pre rooted version of the rom that can be flashed on the device.
Bootloader is all unlocked too.
Again apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, if you could point me in the direction then I can close this thread
Thanks in advance

On the oneplus net site (user comments) you should fine the TWRP MM or something flash this modified TWRP and then flash the OS 3.0 beta. You'll find a working Supersu too with the twrp

OK so there's a specific twrp for MM and a rooted zip for 3.0 along with the SU binaries?
