display only on and off by fingerprint sensor - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hello.
is there an app or can I adjust the fingerprint sensor so that only to turn on and off the display works without the lock function to activate?
So no pin - password query
- only on and off without smartlock
is there another way to turn the display on and off without using the power button - without the lock function
Thanks

...like on my previous Motorola moto g5 plus. It's great feature. Let me know if you find something.

App to disable/enable Touch Screen

I'm using my phone as a GPS with iGO 8 sometimes on my motorcycle. I keep it in my pocket and listen to commands with a headset. But being in my pocket it easly touches the screen and messes up the GPS.
Is there any simple app to toggle disable/enable touchscreen? I want to launch it with HButton with a long press on Send key.
So it should be like a "lock screen" but without any clock, power off, wallpaper, etc. Just to disable screen sensitivity.
Is there any app like this?
You can probably toggle screen off using xdashutdown. Dont know if it will work, but worth a try.
Proximity Lock would do the job.
Excelent idea. Actually the proximity sensor is not working with my GPS software (iGO 8) but the G Sensor works and with TouchLockPro, screen can be locked without being turned off.
I tried to launch TouchLockPro with a command line parameter (!LOCKSCREEN) by keyboard shortcut, but iGO also disabled SendKey. So the G Sensor is the solution.
Thank you, problem solved.

Nexus imprint vs Smart Lock

I was wondering thoughts on this I have the phone and have noticed that I am still hitting the power button to double tap the notification to unlock the phone directly to the app (smart lock and on body/trusted place enabled) and not using the fingerprint sensor because it just unlocks phone. (To the home screen or last app left open). Don't get me wrong the fingerprint sensor is amazing.
When you double tap the notification, you can use the fingerprint scanner instead of putting you pattern or pin in, even though it doesn't look like you have that option.

That's good to know thanks, but you still have to hit the power button if you have ambient display off.
I have a smart watch so smart unlock is always there. The problem is smart unlock goes into lock screen but finger print goes into home screen directly. I'm not sure if it's intentional to make more people use fingerprint.
I stopped using smartlock because of nexus imprint. Smart lock is kind of hit or miss anyways (at least on the original nexus 5) and nexus imprint is much more accurate and reliable.
Also, of your phone is lost or stolen, a criminal wont be able to unlock it by going to a trusted location or connecting to a trusted WiFi/Bluetooth source.

Wait this thing has a power button? Lol I've have barely used the power button since I set up imprint on day 1
It just works so flawlessly (unless my finger is wet/moist) I pick up the phone and my natural finger position lands and bam it's like my phone was never in sleep mode. I ended up only setting up smart voice for the ok google function and disabled face unlock and on body detection, I never used trusted location, WiFi or Bluetooth to paranoid about losing my phone

Fingerprint Sensor Only Works When Phone Is Manually Locked?

Would appreciate some thoughts on this:
I like using an app to lock my phone, and I have this one installed:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iglint.android.screenlock
It locks the screen, but I notice that the Nexus 6p will not allow me to wake the phone via the fingerprint sensor.
If I use the app to lock the screen, and then use the fingerprint sensor, the phone prompts me to enter my pin.
If I use the power button to lock the screen, the fingerprint sensor works as intended.
Thoughts?
My thoughts would be that this app has not been updated to include fingerprint sensors to be able to unlock.
Once it does that, I assume it would work.
Either that or only an official method of locking the screen can allow your fingerprint to unlock.

Screen Off and Lock Apps break Nexus Imprint

i would love to be able to turn the screen off and lock with the fingerprint scanner. hence - we would never have to touch the power button.

Fingerprint Scanner uses

Really liking the fingerprint scanner and it's position on the Mi A1 - much better than the one under the power button on my former Sony phone
That said, i'm wondering if there is a way to make it lock the phone as well as unlock - I like being able to use it as the swipe for notifications, but would be great to Unlock -> swipe (see notifications) -> hold for locking...
Thoughts!?
Did u even Google and try before asking? This was my first hit. https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...anner-do-almost-anything-with-tasker-0175015/
Thanks. So what happens when my banking app wants my fingerprint and I have that set up?
Should work, just don't press it to long. You should be able to set a custom delay before screen off.
So I can't make this work. Tasker seems to have two options System Lock or Lock. Lock is some kind of manual lock screen, so seems System Lock would be what I want.
However, System Lock seems to be a core level lock that then doesnt allow me to unlock with fingerprint, but needs the pattern...
Is there some other option I'm looking for here?
Screen off? Device should autolock itself seconds later.
Doesnt seem to be a screen off option, only change the display timout (min 7 seconds, so that wont work)

Fingerprint sensor glitch?

A couple of times since I've had the 6T, when I tapped the screen to bring up the ambient display or lock screen the fingerprint sensor wouldn't be active. The fingerprint icon would be white and putting a finger on it did nothing. The first time it happened, I was using the single tap to ambient display. When the fingerprint sensor didn't work, I hit the power button to bring up the lock screen and the sensor activated and I was able to unlock using a fingerprint.
I've switched to using double tap to lock screen with both face & fingerprint unlock. Tonight when I tapped the screen the lock screen came up but again the fingerprint icon was white, not active, and face unlock didn't even work. I had to swipe up to unlock with my PIN. After doing so, both fingerprint & face unlock have worked as normal.
Any ideas on why this could be happening? Just a random software glitch? Or does device security require unlocking with a PIN/Password/Pattern after so many fingerprint/face unlocks or after a given amount of time?
yes, it happened to me as well.
but i dont think this is a bug/glitch. This happened to me on other android phones as well.
i think this is a security thing where your fingerprint sensor/ face id is disabled once in a while and you can only sign in with your pin/password.
