Fingerprint Scanner uses - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Really liking the fingerprint scanner and it's position on the Mi A1 - much better than the one under the power button on my former Sony phone
That said, i'm wondering if there is a way to make it lock the phone as well as unlock - I like being able to use it as the swipe for notifications, but would be great to Unlock -> swipe (see notifications) -> hold for locking...
Thoughts!?

Did u even Google and try before asking? This was my first hit. https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...anner-do-almost-anything-with-tasker-0175015/

Thanks. So what happens when my banking app wants my fingerprint and I have that set up?

Should work, just don't press it to long. You should be able to set a custom delay before screen off.

So I can't make this work. Tasker seems to have two options System Lock or Lock. Lock is some kind of manual lock screen, so seems System Lock would be what I want.
However, System Lock seems to be a core level lock that then doesnt allow me to unlock with fingerprint, but needs the pattern...
Is there some other option I'm looking for here?

Screen off? Device should autolock itself seconds later.

Doesnt seem to be a screen off option, only change the display timout (min 7 seconds, so that wont work)

Arghh - on new ROM, lock button doesn't do as I'd like!

Because my device contains sensitive information, I like it locked with a PIN.
Currently its set to Lock after 0 seconds, which basically means every time I close the lid.
Of course this isn't always what I'd like, as I often close the lid for the safety of the screen, not because I actually want to PIN lock it.
I was hoping that the new Device Lock plugin would be an extension of the existing locking capabilities, enabling me to remove the "after 0..." option, and give me the ability to manually PIN lock the device whenever I wanted, simply from the Today screen, as well as setting it to lock after a better timeout (say, 5 mins...)
Does it? Does it buggery...
The Device Lock button appears simply to keylock (not PIN lock) the device, which isn't what I want, because anyone can pick it up, unlock it, and access it without knowing the PIN.
What a crock of sh1t.
Does anyone know of a way to map a button or run a program which will PROPERLY (ie with a PIN) lock this bloody thing? I've been waiting for a ROM release which contains the Device Lock plugin, only to find its useless for my needs!

Lock when display off?

No matter what I set in the lock properties (even if I disable lock) my HD2 turns on the lock screen whenever I power off the display (end call button) and wake it again. Is there a way to only activate the lock after the time specified in the lock settings has passed?

Sadly, the answer is no.
It's either on, or off.
whenever you go to suspend, it would lock (or not, depending on the settings), it does not consider the time parameter.
(this is my experience.
if someone else knows how to suspend without locking,
but set a lock only after a specific time without usage,
I would also be glad to know how)

My experience is that the device wakes up locked (simple swipe unlock it if no password is set) even if the lock settings are disabled. I remember my Touch Diamond didn't have this issue...
power button -> screen off -> wait a little -> power button -> screen on. power button -> screen off -> wait 16 minutes (15 was the lock setting) -> power button -> screen on & lock screen.
this is what I want
I think what you can do is to use the S2U2 v.2.30 lock instead of the default WMo lock.
Through the right S2U2 settings (e.g. Lock when device wake up, Replace WM6.5 system manual lock etc.), the S2U2 should be able to override/disable the default lock settings. Then by setting the right sleep/suspend/wake intervals using the device setting and/or other power management apps, you should be able to achieve what you want.
Btw, there is also a registry tweak (also available in .cab) to fully disbale the default screen lock. Just search "Disable Auto Device Lock.cab" in this Forum.

Slide to Unlock plus Pin security

I just bought the Droid Turbo and I encrypted my phone with a PIN. Now when my phone is in between the screen off and the 5 minute lock time for the pin access, if you press the power button it automatically goes to the home screen. On my 5 other Android phones in between the screen off and the PIN lock out time if you press the power button you still have to slide to unlock. Is there any way to get this back? Or a 3rd party app that will let me do this without disabling the security PIN? I have tried several KitKat and Lollipop lock screen apps but they all remove the pin lock security. I do have the Tasker app but i am unsure how to set this option up. Thanks for any help. If I need to explain the issue better let me know.

I don't think it is available that way with Moto Display. On my Moto X 2013 it doesn't do that either. Because there is a slide unlock on the Moto/Active Display when there are notifications or when the device moves, you slide there to either get the notification or go to the home screen.

I like that feature however, if I press the power button it goes straight to the home screen without sliding to unlock. I dont like that. I want to have to slide to unlock even if I press the power button.

You would probably need a 3rd party lock screen to do that, but I think you'd then always swipe to PIN, after that 5 minutes passed. You can only select one lock screen type on Moto X, so it is either slide OR PIN/Password, but you can't have both. I know what you're referring to, I had it on my Droid X and Droid Razr Maxx, but the only way to turn those on was with the power button. Because the newer Moto phones have Active/Moto Display, I think it works as the slide unlock.
I can say that over time you will use the power button less and less, because you will get used to the Active Display. It's a hard habit to shake, but you'll actually find yourself turning your phone on less to check notifications. On my Moto X I pick it up and see there is a notification (or see it "breathing" an unread notification) and if I press and hold on the circled notification I can see the details. So I can see what the text is, who the email is from, what the tweet is, etc and if I don't care to unlock and view I can swipe left/right to clear it without every actually turning the screen on or unlocking the phone.
If you control the apps that are able to show on Active Display and only places ones you really care about, you'll turn your phone on even less and only for the things you feel are important.

I use Tasker and Secure Settings to set/remove my PIN based on my home WIFI connection (it turns PIN off when I'm at home).
Setup your profile with Tasker first, then create an action and select Plugins (or 3rd party, I forget), and select Secure Settings. You'll have a big list of options, Keyguard is under Actions and Password/PIN is under Dev Admin actions. You'll need to enable Secure Settings as a device administrator in your phone settings.
You will probably need to have a profile that sets keyguard when the screen shuts off and waits 5 minutes, then disables keyguard and turns on PIN/Password lock. Then another profile that resets the status to recycle it once you unlock the phone.
Can you post the step by step instructions. I have never used Tasker before and I am completely lost.

There's an option to Lock Immediately on Power or something. In security settings. Or just reduce your time out.

How to instantly lock Nokia 5 without using power key

Hi everyone,
I have recently been facing problem while locking and unlocking Nokia 5 (Android 7.1.2). I have used "Screen Lock & Off" to instantly lock Nokia 5 without using power key. As I hate using power key every time. But while unlocking with fingerprint, it ask me to enter PIN/password (whichever is used) every time. I dig out the problem and found that its security issue whenever we use third party lock screen app, this will happen.
My question/request is that "Is there any way I can instantly lock Nokia 5 without using Power Key?" like "Screen Lock & Off" does. Or I have to go as it is by entering PIN/password every time (which is too annoying ofcourse ).
Did you find a way to solve this problem?
1. You can use Nova launchers double tap to sleep future. There are two options and if you use the correct one it lets you to open the lock screen by finger print, it does not require the pin every time.
2. Option is to use Greenify. This only works if you assign the long pressing the hone screen for Greenify. This has two options for locking the screen too, you need to choose the correct one.

How to bypass lock screen when trusted with smart lock?

Is there a way to bypass the lock screen when using smart lock when trusted? What I want to do is double top on the AOD screen which then takes me directly to the home screen and NOT the lock screen where I have to swipe in again. Any ideas?
I have also been looking for a solution to this. While I have not been able to completely bypass the lock screen here is a workaround which minimizes when the lock screen appears.
Settings --> Lock screen --> Secure lock settings --> Lock automatically I increased the time from 5 seconds to 30 Minutes (which is the maximum value)
When away from my trusted places I use the power button which locks my phone immediately based on the 'Lock instantly with power key' setting
Hope this helps
I used Gravity Screen for this purpose a few years ago. I don't know if it works with this phone but you can try it out.
I also is able to turn on your screen as soon as you pick it up. And bypass your lockscreen ofc.
