I just love the battery!
I charged my phone to 100% on Friday evening. Didn't require a charger till Saturday night(after some good amount of usage).
Total usage was about 27 hours. I played videos for about 3-4 hours, heavy social media and online shopping.
I got 9.5 hours of SOT which is way better than what I was getting on my previous device - Oneplus 2.
Also I have a quick charger(using with stock cable) get about 2000mAh charging speeds.
Overall more than happy with battery!

I was a redmi note 3 user and upgraded to redmi note 5 pro last week. I can assure you 5 pro gives better battery life than rn3.
Then what do you understand by this usage graph.
Are not you sailing on same boat?
What is there for which you are happy ?
If company gives 1.5 day use this means simply brother "Charge your phone daily".Where is the respite from charging beside 4000 mah battery.See the irony 4000 mah battery and we are charging it daily and saying processor is very good and power efficient.

Most people don't need 10+ hours SOT and will easily achieve 2 or more days of usage. This is pretty much the best battery life you'll get with a powerful cpu atm. It is as powerful as the RN3 and as efficient as the RN4, best of both worlds. If you need more battery life, just get something with only small cores and 8000mah battery. I can't understand what you're complaining about.

It has 100mah less and a bigger screen area than RN3 and RN4 yet it posts those scores, I'd say this is on par with those 2. And on top of that you get arguably much better SoC than both of those.
If you go and use your phone for 10+ hours straight of course it will last only a day, there is no phone (except maybe Lenovo P2) which will surpass 2 days with that kind of usage.

Me neither. People demand screenshots and results in form of numbers, yet they don't know how to properly understand those numbers and don't know how to interpret them.

I own rn3 I don't care about battery, but performance.. Should i upgrade..? Also I play a lot of online games, is there any lag problems in online games like in rn4.

You shouldn't upgrade. The redmi note 3 has a beastly snapdragon 650. It has the adreno 510 which is far better than the 509 for games.

Your phone was awake all the time. there might be some apps which are draining your battery heavily.
i use jio 4g volte, and airtel. with data always on. and i get 10+ hours of continous normal usage. also the idle drain is not much.
just got it yesterday, impressed with its performce and battery.

But still that isn't a good enough reason to upgrade. Especially because the phones are still almost the same and there isn't a huge difference. Why waste money and pollute when you can keep what you already have?!

Does anyone feel like their Note 2 gave them significantly better battery life??? I have the Sprint variant Note 3 and 2, and my note 3 after just 2.75 hours on time, and only being awake 4 hrs 20 minutes, is down to 62% already!! I have disabled so many things, what is sipping my battery?? The on time wasnt even gaming time, just web browsing or texting...
I used to get 10% out of every hour on for my Note 2, and would only lose about 3-5% overnight. Now Im dropping like 2-3% an hour, and couldnt even approach the 75 hour stress test that I read this phone could achieve.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated...

Check your apps, something is keeping it awake. Better battery stats, battery mix and battery in settings. One of those will give you your answer. It's not N3 vs N2, it's just apps. I get 5-6 hours on screen time at 33% brightness while always on LTE or wifi. Also disabling GPS, rooting, using greenify, will all help. You should give more info on what settings/apps you use.
Lol. I am getting at least 2 hours more battery life from note 2.

It has totally outmatched all other phones I have had.

I have gotten 2 days with heavy use calling, surfing, sms and all other usual things.
And the best screen time I have gotten is 6.45 hours i was totally blown away.

It seems that you would have to get it replaced or Sprint did something.
I got my Note 3 from TELUS Canada SM-N900W8 I have absolutely no issues with the battery life.
It is the best I have ever gotten, 2 Days EASY with light use, (I have many apps downloaded and most of my settings are ON except the old S4 stuff like wave your hand and other rubbish)
With Heavy gaming and use it still lasts me a day without a sweat, When I go to bed at around 11 AM I am still yet to see my batt life remaining under 25%.

This is true, no lie. I can Game heavy 3D games, 2D games, Kakao, surf the web a lot, take a few calls, send lots of text messages, do facebook and various others. and still last a full day.
If its light use its very similar with the guy above. Just strictly kakao/fb/whatsapp, web browsing. play with settings.
Plus the phone never heats up UNLESS I play intensive 3D games.
I have to agree...my note 2 was better for battery. Same apps...bascially same settings and usage is pretty predictable in my case. I never worried about battery on my N2...I just ordered the samsung battery and charge kit for my N3 if that tells you anything.
And i do have better battery and gsam installed..nothing really stands out as a batt killer.
Last night I charged both notes to 100 and then unplugged and left them
Note 2 dropped from 100 to 92
Note 3 dropped from 100 to 73
Again nothing stands out in the battery apps?

This is very similar to my experience. And this is my second N3. First was the same. I'm only getting about 4.5 to 5 hours of screen on time with less than 24 hours battery. N2 would get closer to 8 hrs on with at least a day...

With all sensors running, no bloat removed, I am getting above 7gr screen time with 24hr usage. On note 2, I could barely get 5hr mark.
Note 2 was great in battery until 4.1.1. 4.1.2 has dropped battery life a lot and this was the case with most people.
Now only problem with note 3 is that battery drains a bit overnight. You leave it at 100% and when u wake up, you could be at 95%. Is that a note 3 fault? Nooo, its the fault of 4.3. When I updated the 4.3 on n2 battery started getting worse on overnight. Actually in 4
3 Google services has started eating more battery.

The Droid Turbo features a 3900mah battery while the Note 4 features a 3220mah battery and a larger screen. However, testing shows that the Droid Turbo has worse battery efficiency than the Note 4., despite the Note 4's apparent disadvantages. So either the Droid Turbo has a more inefficient screen(since Samsung keeps top tier panels to themselves) or the battery capacity range is limited to improve longevity with the provided turbo charger. The only other screen that has a pixel density close the Droid Turbo is the Galaxy S5 LTE-a, so it seems unlikely that Droid turbo is using an outdated display(?).

Your understanding and results of the things are wrong, no single page says that Note 4 has better longevity than Droid Turbo, besides, the source you are posting says that Turbo performs better than Note 4: Turbo has a 90h endurance rating while the Note 4 has 87h. In PhoneArena you have similar results, the Turbo lasted for 10h 42m while the Note 4 lasted 8h 43m. Another test made in Tom's Guide page says the same, the Note 4 is behind in terms of battery life.
http://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3?idPhone=6727
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks (Battery life)
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/droid-turbo-battery-life,news-19846.html
In short, there is no way that the Note 4 achieves better battery life than the Turbo, because of the screen size in first place, and the shorter battery in second.
:good:
Yeah the Turbo outlasts everything else. Plenty of reviews state it. However I do agree that the battery life is still somewhat underwhelming. My theory is that the phone does have pretty significant idle drain, so this drain will be going along all day, even stronger when in use. Maybe the KK system was rushed to get the phone out, since 5.0 is expected sometime soon? Who knows.
There has to be something wrong with the software related to the cell radios. Cell Standby blows through battery percentage wise. If I don't use my phone as much as usual, Cell Standby is the largest consumer of battery percentage. That should not happen. In all my previous phones, I've never seen it at the top of the battery stats or anywhere near it. I'm hoping it will be fixed via software but if not, the battery life is still great.
A lot of battery drain is due to bloatware. Check the forum for a thread about battery life. Few changes to the moto stuff and disabling apps increased my battery life. That said, the screen is a huge battery hog. When 5.0 gets to us though I'm sure we'll see a significant decrease in battery drain from idle and processes.
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA Free mobile app
Only tweak I've made is to change preferred network type settings to LTE/CDMA instead of global as it comes from the store...
I got two days battery life with about five hours screen on time my first charge cycle.
It might be underwhelming, but I'm impressed considering the screen it has to power. If the turbo came with the screen used in the X, I'd bet this would be a 3 day per charge phone at least...
In my humble opinion I honestly think the phone was never meant to have kit Kat. If you look at the timing of the release, pushed back 2 weeks and the phones on lollipop. I think this was a verizon decision to get the phone out ASAP. I seriously think all these little complaints are going to be squashed once lollipop hits.

I know everyones "heavy usage" is different. Mine was 5hrs of screen on time, and almost 3 hrs of calls. Any other phone I have ever owned would have needed a charge or two to finish my day.
I got 44 hours on a single charge this past Fri/Sat w/ just a hair under 3hrs of SOT. Sat/Sun got me about 29hrs w/ around 6 hours of SOT (checking fantasy scores/highlights/etc). I have no complaints about the battery life.

I disabled as much of the Verizon and Motorola bloat as possible except Moto Display and I get 17 to 20 hours in between charges with about 7 hours screen on time. I think the battery performance is the best of any phone I have ever had. Especially since the display requires so much juice when it's on.
I couldn't find a thread about battery and SOT, so here it is.
Battery life is one of the most important things in today's gadgets and even if it's often up to what kind of apps and usage pattern you have there is still good to find a baseline to benchmark your own battery life against.
Please show us your battery life, SOT and any findings you have about what to do, and not, to maximize it.
If possible , please use gsam battery monitor and post screenshot. Gsam is a great tool and will also show you parts of what's going on energywise. Root is normally needed for more granular reports.
Thanks!

It's still a very early firmware and hopefully it's possible to find what's draining.
Looking forward to it, but sad news if it's the same for everyone.
Thank you!
First cycles with all initial syncs were getting me about 6:30 hours. After a few cycles, intensive usage (very little gaming, but lots of browsing, twitter, FB, sports timer, some camera etc) I am getting around 8:45. I noticed that changing brightness from default auto (too dark for me) to manual +2 (very bright) doesn't impact battery life much. I think the main drain comes from the 810 and theming.

Theming is known to be able to drain.
Is there a "stock version" that don't drain and is it possible to measure?
When it comes to the SOC, I imagine that's mostly up to Qualcomm and HTC to fix.
Actually more around 8:00 screen on with 45' screen off. Note that I disabled FB and Twitter feed sync, and configured location services only on one Google account and did not use theming on these cycles.

About 8 hours of SOT with more than 50% brightness sounds really good, even if you turn location and stuff off.
Can you upload som statistic about what is taking battery and SOT?
Thanks
8 hours is quite consistent with the reviews, e.g. Engadget:
In the standard Engadget rundown test (with a video set to loop endlessly while the screen's set to 50 percent brightness), the M9 stuck around for eight hours and 19 minutes -- a decent increase over the original One M7, but far short of the 11-plus hours we squeezed out of the M8 last year and the 10-plus hours the G Flex2 put up. That seems abnormally low, especially considering that the M9 did just fine when it came to average daily use: It regularly hung around for 13 to 14 hours of continuous work use (including a few spells as a mobile hotspot during press events) without batting an eye.

Also in my experience 8 hours with the screen off will drain 10%. This is without the phone doing much and WiFi only as I don't have a SIM in there yet.
Coming from a first gen Moto G I don't feel too concerned.

True, but most of those test is normally about looping a video, web-script, on 50% brightness.
I you just got the phone and using it in a mixed way 8 hours is pretty good. I never had 8 hours on the M8, even when reading books with flight-mode on (weekend in another country, don't want to get ruined
But... I also have close to 200 apps running god knows what in the background.

About 8 hours of SOT with more than 50% brightness sounds really good, even if you turn location and stuff off.
Can you upload som statistic about what is taking battery and SOT?

Absolutely no way is anyone getting 8hrs of SOT with 50% left. Not even then 720p blue studio energy with a 5000mah is.

No one said they had 50% battery remaining after 8 hours of SOT. They were talking about the screen brightness being set at 50%
I think you've misread that. It's 8hrs SOT with brightness at 50%. Not remaining battery at 50%.
Here is mine so far tonight after 2 full drain and recharge cycles.
It seems the system itself is a big impact on the battery. Need a lot more work on the firmware.

I think this is the only encouraging thing anyone can say right now.
We know that the M8 is capable of great battery life. The M9 has a bigger battery than the M8 so hopefully the firmware can improve.
As apposed to the S6 where the battery size leaves the battery life nowhere to go but down.
I've been testing a Verizon version with all the test software on it so it's hard to gauge battery life. My main complaint about the phone is its slow charge rate. Takes hours to charge

I used an Apple iPad charger which gives out 12w/2.1a. It still took nearly 5hrs to charge my dead phone to full power.
My iPhone 6 plus with the same charger takes about 2.5-3hrs to charge a dead phone.
Charging m9 with out of the box charger from 12% takes me about 2 hours and 15 minutes. I'm in France . Don't know whether this is the 'quick' charger or not.
Also, power history graph crashes if I try to launch it while charging

This thread will be for battery discussion related to the One X. At this point we're only speculating, but it will also be a great place to post battery test results from reviews, your own battery life results, and general discussion about improving battery life.
I started this thread because I'm interested in the One X, but assuming that with 80% the battery capacity of my OnePlus One (2,525 vs. 3,100mAh), the OnePlus X will probably have ~20% less battery performance. It will help that the One X has an AMOLED screen vs. LED, so dark pixels are not illuminated, and it's screen is smaller, thus saving some energy. Maybe we'll get 85% of the OnePlus One's battery performance
Just to start a little speculation before the reviews begin rolling in, there are two flagship devices from 2013/2014 that are somewhat comparable (~5" screen, 2,x00mAh battery, SnapDragon 80x SoC):
Google Nexus 5 w/2,300 mAh battery
Samsung Galaxy S5 w/2,800 mAh battery
HTC One M8 w/2,600 mAh battery
Just picking one review site's battery test results (it doesn't matter which one--almost none of them reflect actual user experience accurately), the S5 gets 7h 38 min, One M8 7h 12 min and the Nexus 5 4h 50 min. That's a huge range, but I think it's reasonable to expect the One X to average them since it's battery size is closer to the One NexusM8 and Nexus 5, but it has an AMOLED screen like the S5--so around 6 hrs 30min by Phone Arena's test regiment. The OnePlus One did 8hr 5min by Phone Arena's regiment, so ~80% of that would be 6hr 24min for the One X.
If my speculation is reasonable (iffy at best ), then the One X should have some pretty decent battery life for a 5" device.
Enough speculation for now. Waiting for the reviews to start coming in.
It has AMOLED display, 5" instead of 5.5" screen, a slightly underclocked version of the CPU used in OnePlus One, and when it gets Android 6.0 there are tons of battery related optimizations, I don't think there is reason to be worried...
Also with underclocking CPU and GPU with combination of undervolting will give you a great battery life. Amoled display won't illuminate dark pixels and that's also a big plus over here. With OPO i get around 8h of SOT it 2 days of moderate usage.. messaging, music and that's it mostly. OneX will be same as OPO i think. Smaller screen, new android, kernel modifyfing and you'll be able to get aroung 7-8h of SOT I'm sure
This is the same SoC Qualcomm MSM8974AB that has been used by htc with M8 and Sony in it's Xperia Z2 with 2600 and 3200 mAh battery respectively. as I'm currently suffering low battery backup with Galaxy S6, I'm bit skeptical whether to go with one X or not. If one X manage to reach minimum 4 hrs. SOT I will buy this phone as I already received the invitation.

SOT is extremely variable depending upon personal usage habits. I don't know how you could possibly find out if you would get 4 hrs with your usage habits before having the device. Maybe find somebody with an X and identical usage habits to you?
Incidentally, the Phone Arena battery test is done with the screen on, and they're getting 6-7 hrs out of similar devices.
We measure battery life by running a custom web-script, designed to replicate the power consumption of typical real-life usage. All devices that go through the test have their displays set at 200-nit brightness.

I'm afraid it won't be enough
I live in Rome, so I'll have the chance to buy a OP X the next 11th November event but the battery is the only thing that is stopping me at the moment. I come from a ridiculous Galaxy Nexus battery life and I'd love to have a real long battery life finally. I was interested in the ZUK Z1 for this reason but I'm kind of used to the AMOLED technology and I don't want to go bigger than 5.2" for the display. Please guys post anything you know about the battery life even if iI'm afraid it will be just average and nothing special. 2500ish battery is not enough nowadays.

I have nexus 4 and its sot is from 3:40 to 4+h. It has 2100mah battery.
It is enough for me to last a day.
Just hope that custom roms will be available.
That will let me to adjust some settings.
Just had a conversation with the chat team, here is the conversation.
19.54.41 GMT - Client said : I am also a bit concerned abou thr battery on the oneplus x, it seems a bit small. Are there any official numbers on how long the device csn hold charge. Screen on time, etc.
19.57.04 GMT - Operator said : The device has 2,525 mAh LiPo battery. Pretty much it'll be good for one day. It is normal for smartphones that has LiPo battery. Overall, it'll just depend on the usage of the device, so to lessen the battery usage, one of the best way is to reduce the brightness of the device and to force close all apps that are running.

Yeah. I will wait for proper kernel then uv, uc and make gaming profile shortcuts with tasker then i will get battery and performance when i need it.
If manufactures would be smart they would make profiles available in the statusbar. Just simple battery saving, normal and performance tabs.
Also wishing that the alert slider can be customized. Just realized that it woulf be awesome if the alert slider could handle performance profile.
More than 8 hours 1080p video playback
Hi all,
the german online mag Golem.de states in his review:
- more than 8 hours continuous 1080p video playback with 1 battery charge (for comparison: ZUK Z1 made 9 hours with 4100mAh in same test)
- gets easily over 1 day usage
First day use!
Am i the only one getting such a bad battery life?? Or should i wait to test it again after a few more days??

Try sleeping in a little later. Getting up before 5AM is probably what's killing your battery
interested in getting the device but would like to see the performance of the phone in real life ... battery life would also tell its capabilities
According to this test, the battery life is not bad. But I don't know this site, and i'm not sure it could be trust.
edit : I can't post link. Search for "fonearena oneplus-x-battery-life-test" and you will find it.
Hey guys, I recently bought the chrome version of Z5 premium dual.
It's been almost a week and I can safely say that I'm disappointed by the battery.
My Z3 dual almost gave me 2 days of battery life with moderate to heavy usage, Z5P dual is far from that.
Take a look at the screenshots below.
It barely gave me a day with moderate usage, I didn't even play any games during this period.
I'm not sure if the 5.5 inch 4k screen is its friend or a foe.
I'll conduct more tests and share the results.

Screen on time??
It would be great to know the Screen-on-time and the brightness you've set for the screen.
Some point i think needs to be cleared by OP:
1. From the graph it's not charged fully to 100%?
2. First charge? I think no wonder..
3. Clean Master? 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM and OP still need one? It obviously will take some battery power to do monitoring and cleaning..
But overall, Seeing more than 24 hour battery life time is quite good actually. Maybe not as efficient as Z3 but it's been the norm for all 810 devices. Only SOT part is needed here. Good news is when OP is asleep, the phone is sleeping too

I did charge it to 100%
Screen brightness was set to 50%
As far as clean master goes, its rather a handy app to remove whatsapp and some other apps from from the active apps list. It's a necessity for me, might not be for you.
Another update, I removed the secondary sim card from the device and the standby time improved considerably.
Using a single sim since yesterday on 3G mode.
Hey guys, I did a 720p video test. Here's the result.
MX player pro
Brightness set at 10
Volume set at 15
Handsfree plugged in
Both sim cards active
Battery dropped from 100% to 66% after 1.5 hours

Its like sony has gone back to to life before the z2/3 as far as battery is concerned. No more excellent battery life just mediocre - average.
how about battery stats for single sim? really curious as I am planning to get one myself when it gets released in my country.
just so you all know this phone has octa core so don't expect it will handle 2 days use of battery since once all 8 cores are working it will drain battery 2x faster or so than z3 would take as quad core.
But cpu does stopp some of it's cores when not needed then it will say Stopped on other 4 cores or if it says sleeping depending on which app you use to check.
I guess Sony might have solved heat problem of the S810 but not batter.......
This is not a phone for you if you watch movies or videos all the time.
Mine is 2 weeks old now, after extensive usage I can safely say it lasts comfortably for a day on a full charge with normal usage, without watching movies. If you do watch videos or movies it'll drain out in 7-8 hours.
So got my Z5P yesterday and I am not impressed with the battery it drains quite fast and I have power saving on and brightness around 25%

Yea it's definitely disappointing, one of the primary reasons I purchased it was for the larger battery. I really didn't think it would be so average! I honestly find myself using my z ultra around the house on Wi-Fi. I think if I had a sim kit to revert back I'd regress lol. It's battery is growing on me now, and I just received my case in the mail today so I can stop treating it like an infant!

Same here and the bigger screen, I had the Z5 before and wasn't impressed with the battery on that and the premium is hardly any better even when I am not viewing photos or videos, even just sending texts or on whats app im just watching the battery drain so fast, it doesn't even drain so fast on my ip6s or gs6. I don't know if its just because of the S810 but there is no other android phone i like this year with a big screen (5.5 inch+) they are all just disappointing imo.

I think yesterday mine was around 5 hours SOT. Mostly whats app and texts but my iphone can do about the same and so can my s6. This battery lasts only a bit longer overall than S6 or iphone on the same screen brightness, power saving and usage and having a much bigger battery. The S810 must really be rubbish, i would have rather them cut the 4K screen and used a 808 processor as for a 3430mah cell the battery life is dismal. I had the Z3 before aswell and the battery life made me love the phone can't say the same for the premium, Ive only had it two days and i dont like it already but i cant keep changing phones so i gotta ride it out until next year but on this basis this is definitely a phone I will get rid of in around 6 months time unless some serious battery improvements come.

It's not the extra cores that drain the battery.
CPU cores in mobile phones are very small (4 or 8 cores) and if u compare that power useage with a 5.5" big screen you'll get my point..
@arjun.arora
Don't close your apps so often. I see u use some cleaner app. I never liked those apps, I just closed my apps in recent app menu but since android lollipop it is not recommended to close apps at all - android manages this for u.
If u just let all ur opened apps open for a couple of days u will see the device gets smoother and faster and maybe also more juice friendly
(E.g. every app u kill, need to be opened at some time. So when u don't kill, it opens faster and doesn't need that much power to open)
I don't know why, but it's finish faster 100% to 65%. Then it's goes to 0% slowly. I am a heavy user and it's give me at least whole day with 8 hours screen.
Hi guys. I've had my premium for about a week now and everyday with approx same usage I am only getting 3.5 hrs screen on time! With and without stamina mode. Same
Do you think there could be something wrong with the device
Thanks
Managed to get this on my first charge using it heavy all day on data only.
Not too bad.
