If Oreo OTA update is installed. Any chance of a rooting option similar to the now successful PartCyborg procedure for Nougat?

Is there a way to use samsung smart switch to install the update? When I attempt to check for software update on my phone, it actually tells me the OS has been modified and try using the smart switch....
Finally, if unrooting is a must, when I go to root, can I follow the same exact protocol as before, or must the developers update the root packages first?

I have a towelrooted S5 with a slightly debloated stock lollipop 5.0 (BOD3) and I successfully patched stagefright with FlashFire and this fix.
The Detector App says "Not Vulnerable". Knox is still 0x0. No unrooting necessary.

This fix worked for me. Model w8 running ambassadi 6.3. Thank you

Marshmallow 6.0.1 and having custom ROM

I saw that there was a update being pushed for my phone and its marshmallow 6.0.1. I currently have my phone rooted+bootloader unlocked and custom rom trupurexmm 2.4 installed, will I be able to receive this update automatically? Or do I have to undo all this stuff I did to my phone? What are the improvements with 6.0.1?

You definitely can't take the OTA, or it won't succeed anyway, with a custom ROM/recovery. You would have to go back to stock. As far as improvement or changes, I don't know.
Are you sure it's 6.0.1? How do you know that?can't find anything regarding 6.0.1

CyanogenMod is on 6.0.1 I believe. Not a whole lot of info on it that I could find, but I do know that you should NOT take that OTA if you're rooted, etc... Just wait for TruPureXMM to be updated and include it if it doesn't already.

Is it possible to obtain root and continue to receive OTAs?

I heard of CF's "systemless root" to roota devices and continue to receive officiale OTAs: is this way to root available on International S7 edge (G935F)? How to?

Sorry to say but after rooting you will no longer get OTA but no
worries, after all that's what ODIN3 is for... Updating firmwares.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Are you sure? What about Chainfire's systemless root?
Chainfire's systemless root doesn't work on International S7 edge (G935F)?
There is a way to update my S7 with new firmware realeases without losing data and apps (factory reset)?
If I flash a newer officilae firmware over my rooted device with Odin what happens?!?
Actually there is a way to Obtain OTAs i read about it somewhere, for this To work you need Xposed and XTouchWiz and there is an Option that sets a Fake System Status from Custom To Official and like this you get your OTAs you Can Download it but can't install it
Installing new firmware with Odin factory reset the device?

Rooted S7 marshmallow to OTA Nougat update

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S7 on marshmallow PI3 and just got notification of an OTA update, which I assume is for Nougat. I thought I wouldn't get an OTA while rooted, but haven't attempted to download. Please confirm that I will need to un-root my device to get the update.

Even if the update does download, the update will most likely fail during the checking process. Your best bet is to flash Nougat with Odin, then re-root using the Nougat root kernel.

There's not a problem flashing Nougat on a rooted phone?

No, because the act of flashing through odin pretty much negates all that. You just have to root again and follow the guides to speed the system back up or go without root and choose an option like the debloat rom with near stock experience.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I think this might be misleading for someone new. In order to get to a rooted Oreo, you will need to follow the dirty santa method, of getting a rooted phone with TWRP, and then you can use TWRP to flash the stock rooted firmware mentioned in the post above. (I could be completely wrong as I have not done any rooting yet on my VS995 yet but I have tried to follow the proper methods. I keep hoping developers will come up with a way to root oreo, without having to go backwards).
