sorry you. I am a Vietnamese person so I do not know much about English. I have to google translate. Please do not abbreviate or anything. I do not understand. sorry to bother you. Can you give me specific instructions on how to downgrade from MM to LP. If you can write more specifically thank you. thank you
Okay so assuming that you actually want to use Lollipop version on your j5,here Ive tried to provide some steps to do that:
NOTE: This will erase your data so make a backup
Step 1: Find your device model(like j500f/m/fn/h) and download the lollipop rom accordingly from herehttps://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Just search the model number
Step 2:Get Odin3 on your computer from here http://odin3.en.lo4d.com
Step 3:After downloading all files, now you need to set your j5 into download mode- Just switch off and the hold Vol down+Home+Power at the same time
Step 4:Connect your device via USB(UniversalSerialBuzz )cable to your computer and open odin application, the dialog box should show 'Added!'
Step 5: Select AP option and browse the ROM file you downloaded previously
Step 6: Let it verify things and after a while hit the Start button and let it do its thing!
Step 7: After the process is complete the device should boot up in lollipop (it'll take a while!)
Step 8:Enjoy Lollipop!
I hope that helps, also if you need anymore assistance feel free to ask!

The error u mentioning i mean aboot.mbn failed is mostly because of when FRP lock is enabled..
So if u press vol down + power combo then vol up..

Put phone in download mode, press vol down + power + home button all at the same time until the warning message appears then let go of the buttons. Finally press vol up. You can check there if reactivation lock is off or on.

Yes, I was able to get superuser working on 4.4, but when I tried to install TWRP via goomanager, something happened and I got stuck in a boot loop, I think it screwed up my recovery. I never got CWM or TWRP working so maybe I didn't actually have it successfully rooted.

That is because that file is for 4.3 and you already have the 4.4.
I checked twrp and it doesn't have an updated one for sprint 4.4 but it has a N9005 4.4 which actually worked on my phone even though I'm using a N900W8. If you want to try it out, download here.

Tell me what happens in detail I may be able to fix it.
Depending on what fails is dependent on how it's fixed.
Videos of the root process is good as let's me see exactly what the issue is.
Does it flash?
Does it start the root process?
Does it fail to mount partitions?

Partitions mounting failure?
Same problem here, the root proces fails. But for a moment, before it fails root proces, there is a message on the phone display (while in download mode), that the phone is locked (I think because of a locked bootloader, but maybe I'm wrong).
My phone is Samsung Galaxy A5 SM-A5100 (Qualcomm MSM8939, Hong Kong ver).

Yes, so far, everything works just fine.
Just to mention, after the root was completed, the phone "bootlooped" for 3 or 4 times, before it started up android OS (maybe that's normal, I don't know).
I'm not shure if the problem was different version of ODIN or the USB port on my laptop, but first couple of times I tried this version "Odin engine v(ID:3.1101)", the last time, when root process was successful I was using "Odin3_v3.10.6".

See post #13. Confirmed working.
Works for me too. ( I used Odin v3.10.6. )
Note : Because I removed the "auto-reboot" option, when the flash finished, I had to press Vol + , Vol - , home btn , power btn to reboot, so the rooting process started, and finally finished after 3 reboots.

Since then my phone has been stuck on the green screen since and whenever I press anything it just returns to the screen.
Any fast help would really be appreciated, it's been like this for hours and I'm not sure what to do ):
I'm gonna take a quick stab at this and say use the other CSC file, whichever one you haven't tried (either csc_vzw or home_csc_vzw).
Do not use the HOME_CSC file. Use the CSC and be sure that all of the images are in the correct spots in ODIN.
Was the device rooted? If so, you may not have gotten rid of all the root files, so it detects modified and won't flash.
Which firmware are you trying to flash? Were you on Nougat? We need more information.
Are you going from U firmware? I had to check repartition when I did.

Same thing here. I can only get into stock recovery with the error "dm-verity verification failed" (most options are disabled), and into bootloader, but unable to flash stock ROM; it just fails every time.
I'd be glad for a solution!
Don't forget the bootloader file too. I believe the root thread doesn't include the BL file in the instructions, but the error disappeared when I included the Bootloader.

You cannot flash a stock rom with an older bootloader than what ever you currently have on your phone. You can only Odin flash a stock rom with same or newer bootloader. So usually you cannot go to an older rom only newer.
Can I try flashing stock rom while in the Software update failed screen, or do I need to be in download mode?

Try re-downloading the firmware. Are you sure you had the right firmware downloaded? The error seems to be caused by some kind of mismatch between the software trying to be flashed and what software you currently have on your phone
Also, make sure you are using the non princecosmy Odin 3.12
When ever I try to flash stock onto my phone, i'm getting the error "SW REV CHECK FAILED : [aboot] fused 4 > binary 2" I don't know what any of this means. Could someone explain this? Also when trying to flash stock i'm in "System Update Failed" screen and a little bar appears at the bottom. Does this mean it is still able to download the stock rom at all? One last thing, if I were to try and flash G935U instead of G935V could that help? Any help would be nice
go to samfirm and download the latest firmware for the S7 that you have, try flashing with that. I had to put everything in it's place in odin and select reformat to unroot my phone. I ran into the dm_verification failed and the only option was to download the latest firmware and flash that.

Do you mean sammobile? https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935F/
That or http://samfirm.net/I believe.
Hey everyone,
This guide should make it very easy for anyone to root and install a custom recovery (TWRP) on basically almost any S6 variant. You've got all the download links in the video description as well.
It works on all Android 7.0 stock versions, including the latest ones (with the most recent security patches).
Everything is very clearly explained, with step-by-step instructions in the video below. Just make sure you download the correct TWRP tar file for your S6 variant.
https://youtu.be/BV1ELmu8T0I
Enjoy!
Here is just the same but in really short (because that isn't so complicated) And here are also useful links to get latest drivers, stock firmware, ROOT, TWRP etc.

Install latest USB drivers, unpack lastest Odin3 and SamFirm. Use SamFirm to download latest firmware for your model, so put "SM-G920F" in "model" check "Auto" under that, put CSC code for your country in "Region", download it and then just flash it in Odin
Here you got full CSC codes list and also short guide how to use SamFirm

Thank you so much for responding, but unfortunately l it does not have my version which is the (SM-S906L/TFN) variant it works but straight talk but when I booted it up it said Tracfone so the region I put TFN and the model number (SM-S906L) and I can't find it. I have the firmware for my phone so as this is much not a problem. What is a problem is when I do flash the stock firmware in odin is that i run into sboot.fail and cm.bin fail, and the only way is to delete them from the .tar file and rezipping them into another .tar without the sboot/cm.bin, and NO matter what I flash either if is a successful rom flash in twrp or what I just said in odin I ALWAYS come back to a boot loop. I'm starting to think my phone is dead idk what to do.

I hate to ask, but i've been going over every post i can find in the forums, including this one, and i think i am scared to ask this but.......Does this not work for the G920V Verizon variant? i keep looking everywhere online but it seems like none of these methods work for that Variant, but no one has said that it wont work on that one specifically, was hoping maybe you can confirm or deny if it works on the Verizon variant? thank you in advance.
KNOX
How about KNOX? Will it flip the flag?

Just flash CF-Auto-Root for your model (is avaiable), then you can easy flash also TWRP without problems with OEM Unlocking. After that do all what you want
---------------------------
Because I'm quite sure you're wrong. Just because there's a CF-Auto-Root image for the device for a particular build number, it doesn't mean it's gonna get past the locked bootloader. I got CF-Auto-Root from here https://desktop.firmware.mobi/device:841/firmware:2970 for my G920V 6.0.1 build CPK2. Tried to flash with Odin, and it failed right away. On the device, on the downloading screen, it says "Secure Download : Enabled", and once I try to flash, it says "SECURE CHECK FAIL: (RECOVERY)".
Also, the CF-Auto-Root README.txt clearly says: "Your device must have: - An unlocked bootloader, - OEM unlock enabled (if present) in developer options, - Factory reset protection (if present) disabled".
I was going to write a long post about all the things I tried on the Verizon phone that din't work, including mihaixp and rifek4's suggestions (things that worked fine on G920F), so I'll just say: "No, there is no root for Verizon phones", and leave you with this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/help/current-root-method-verizon-s6-t3647371

Plz Guyz Help!
I just installed twrp in my SM-G925l & directly boot into recovery , after that i did factory reset, advanced wipe(dalvik/ART cache, system, data, internal storage, cache) and than i was going copy the Rom Files via MTP but it says "can't copy files, the Device either disconnected or stopped responding" .
I don't have a external usb drive so can't try that.
Plz guyz, help. What to do now.
rifek4 said:
Yes... So true... For G920V with 6.0/7.0 I think isn't any avaiable way to ROOT. I never had Verizon and never looking for any post with informations about it, but from that what I know possible was S6 Verizon (G920V) ROOT but on Lollipop (5.1.1) ROM's only.

and yet here you just answered the simple question i asked in the first post you replied to, so thank you , but even though you say this, other posts seem to make me believe it is possible.
But just in case, here is what i have tried so far, maybe some other option i am not seeing in my searching has come up that you might know?
First i was trying to root via the method mentioned here....http://rootmygalaxy.net/root-samsung-galaxy-devices-using-cf-auto-root-odin-tool/
This method kept failing me however on the first box, not the green pass as is expected. I also in my searching found this thread about locked bootloaders... (crap my window crashed with the link and now i can't seem to find it, grr) anyways, there was talk of unlocking the bootloader to solve the problem....which lead me to this thread...https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/general/root-nougat-s6-verizon-t3710864
And i used that method, and everything went and worked as expected however i did not achieve the SuperSU that i expected to see int he app drawer in the end, so something didn;t work.
which lead me to this thread...https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...20vvrs4dqd1-odin-nougat-7-0-firmware-t3597007 to get myself the firmware needed for this method here...https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-auto-root-t3056630/post73993971#post73993971 and this post ...https://androidmtk.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s6-sm-g920v which was again just the CF Auto Root that failed the first time around.
So i feel like a giant game of round robin here.
I really don't want to drop to a lower version of Android to root the unit (and i also feel it really wouldn't matter what version at this point) but if that is my only option i might just try it, but so i kindly ask again, after clearly using the search function on the forum to look for methods, has anyone had luck with the Verizon variant S6 920V on Nougat getting root to stick and if so, can you please point me to the method you used on the forums, because all the methods i keep finding circle back to the CF Auto method that keeps failing time and time again. Thank you in advance.
So will this be triggering KNOX or not?
Could anyone please tell me whether Knox will be triggered or not
Hello, I tried this method, everything was OK, i got pass in ODIN app, then tried to reboot and now nothing is happening, i think device is bricked, but I made everything as you have described in video. Now when I try to hold volume UP + home + lock buttons, galaxy s6 logo pops up, the side buttons just flash and nothing happens. Could you please, help me?
Edit: I can enter download mode
Edit2: false alarm, I just installed wrong TWRP

1. download a rom with 7.0 and copy it to the microSD

3. Download the root you want Magisk or supersu and copy it to the microSD
4. If you updated the secure bootloader you have RMM blocking to remove that follow these steps:
(restart in download mode and check if you have the RMM Prenormal status)
Delays the date in 8 days,
Check the software update. uncheck the automatic update option
Restart the phone.
Check update again,
Restart the phone.
The development mode is switched on and, if the OEM does not appear, wait 1 Hour
5. If you succeed with the OEM unlocking flashes the TWRP

I tried but it not working... ?
Try flashing a new rom .. In my case I had the J730G variant with the Indonesian XID system and I had to switch to Vietnam XXV, try again and it worked.
Here is a link to review the updates .. left side choose your model and there will come out in which countries is the 8.1 update. Try the previous steps again
http://samsung-updates.com
Use samfirm to download the rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...g-firmware-t2988647/post57842725#post57842725
NOTE: in the initial configuration do not connect the WiFi or mobile data, because if they do it will not work again. In any case better to extract the SIM
Now repeat the previous process and luck

This method is to not have to wait for the 168h it takes to restart the Rmm state normally, delaying the date 8 days and looking for the update you are cheating the system that is that date and when you restart it the system will think that it is already a week and so you can have the OEM again
