After rooting my moto g5 plus, I couldn't figure out how to stop that bootloop, then I used custom rom afterwards, I downloaded stock firmware and flashed it in my moto g5 plus from moto g5+ toolkit (bootloader), after flashing that my device says "emergency calls only" I cant recive calls or text and cellular data is also not working, other roms are also not working

Hi
I've noticed people with similar problems to me but none of the fixes seem to work.
I have an EU Moto x style. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. After this, the WiFi stopped working.
I tried reflashing the modem (EU version) and this then resulted in the Sim no longer being recognised as well as the wifi continuing to not switch on
So I then tried flashing the lollipop stock recovery rom for EU style. It boots up ok but still no sim or wifi.
Kind of at a loss what to try next. I would have thought the original ROM would return it to the original state but it hasn't. Also tried factory reset, clear cache etc
Any ideas?
I would suggest trying to flash a Moto X Style factory image using your PC. That I believe will take it back to stock. Try out your sim and WiFi then try again...

I decided to flash stock ROM again after having some camera issues on all Oreo ROMs. I have done this process many times and my PC is all set up to do a stock flash. This time after flashing stock rom for my UK g5 plus, I booted to no signal. After repeating the stock ROM flash a few times and, trying a few APN options and switching to 3g and back to 4g with nothing working, I realized there is a problem. After this, I tried going back to 8.1 pixel and Nitrogen, which did return my signal but, no 4g only 3g.
I'm a little confused as to what is going on here, no custom ROM flash can leave any effect after fastbooting stock to my knowledge. Any ideas?
How to

Step by step:
1. Flash TWRP.
2. Flash Pixel Experience rom if we haven't flashed yet.
3. Turn on phone with flashed rom to obtain network signal
4. Here we will get the IMEI and only have 3g signal, so we need to restart the phone in bootloader mode and type in fastboot "fastboot erase modemst1" and "fastboot erase modemst2", these two command will give us IMEI and 4g signal.*
5. Turn on Pixel Experience again to obtain 4g(verify it pls), shutdown and enter Recovery mode (TWRP).
6. Do a backup of EFS and install stock rom.
7. Restore EFS backup and enjoy.
* NOTE: It's very important to turn on the phone once flashed Pixel Experience to obtain IMEI info and turn on again to obtain 4G.
This works to get 4g but volte no longer is working (used to be fine on nougat). I'm using TMobile usa

So, are you able to get back the 4G mobile data (4G LTE) at least?
Yes, I get LTE again, but not volte. Sad
Currently, all Oreo roms are causing this issue because they seem to update IMEI info and the modems. Once an Oreo rom has been flashed, there is no way to get voLTE back at the moment, however 4G can work again (with the method above). This issue will probably not be solved until the official Oreo rom is released by Motorola.

Hello, I know this thread is old. But I have a moto g5 xt1670 and it's been a week since I have lost 3g and 2g in my phone. I only have 4g. So I can't make nor receive calls. It is on stock Oreo 8.1. Going back to 7.0 stock didn't help. Neither Going to custom rom 9.0. don't know what else to do.

Trying using the QCOM option in the fastboot menu. Have been stuck on 3g since late 2017 and finally got it back by selecting that option which reboots me into the OS with working 4g regardless of what rom I flash. Don't know if it will work for you but try it and let me know.
I just got an LG G6 US997, unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP, and installed Lineage successfully. When I went through setup, the wizard never got past the SIM activation screen so I had to skip that. The service state shows as "Out of Service" with a signal strength of 0. I can't send or receive text messages or receive calls, but data seems to work just fine. I've found that if I place an outbound call, everything seems to reset and then the service state moves to "In Service" and I get a signal strength. After that, I'm able to send and receive texts and receive calls. Tried a new SIM from Verizon... no change. I tried flashing the latest stock ROM (17A) to see if there was still a problem and everything activated without any issues. I was able to send and receive texts and receive calls no without issue. After trying another clean install of Lineage, I'm back to the same issue. Any thoughts?
Same for me
Thank you for posting, I was able to get my text messaging working after making a call. I used TWRP to flash Lineage 15.1 and MindTheGapps.
Any updates on the long-term usability of this ROM?
Cheers
You can try to not use a sim to set it up then use the method that scy gave
Hello I really need help I was flashing customs roms and I did something in ADB and now my radio doesn't work. My Moto X will detect my phone number and my IMEI number shows up but nothing else happens. Some roms won't even register my sim card. I tried flashing the modem from the stock 6.0 image on Motorola's website and I even used the modem files from the Nougat image here on XDA and and I can't get my sim to work. I tried multiple roms and nothing will work. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
If anyone is reading this I found a solution by myself. My modem was basically bricked so I used this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/xt1575-moto-x-pure-edition-factory-t3704142 and reflashed stock Nougat using adb then I just reinstalled my custom recovery and rom and everything was working again.
I installed the latest lineageOS 19 version, rooted my phone then ran into this problem where the phone says i have service, but when i place a call it wont fully make the call. Then my mobile data will X out and i get pop up error saying mobile service is unavailable. I then tried lineageOS 18.1 and arrowOS and same problem persists.
formating between installs obviously.
I have looked at every option on this phone and tried combinations and everything in the network/system/ everything and still not working.
The process was actually very simple since i have some programming experience. Other sources mention possible baseband issues? On the fastboot screen it shows a baseband version. all the information there appears normal. I only flashed the boot image one time to root and didn't mess with any other manual flashing processes. Just used twrp. I didn't quite understand twrp at first and therefore didn't get a backup using it... iused adb to make a backup which apparently didn't work so Im lost and hope someone could help me out here. please and thank you!
If i may add I can use mobile data just fine, i can browse the internet and such (with wifi off and data on only) so i really dont understand. Is this a normal issue to have when using custom roms? did I trip some security that blocked me now? any input???
I wonder, though, this moto g7 is an A/B partition thing. so if i understand correctly, flashing twrp would not work and thus why i did not do that. it makes sense. But should i try flashing it, booting into it then installing lineage? even if i did i feel like that would give me same issue considering the method i followed got me into lineageos, plus root checker said i was rooted.
What I can tell you is what I had to do in order to get LTE (voice calls) running on my G7 - I was forced to switch over to LTE because AT&T turned off 3G here in the US and 4G without LTE is not good enough for voice calls:
Get the latest stock firmware and install it using e.g. Lenovo's "Rescue And Smart Assistant". That will get Motorola's Android 10 on the phone.
After installation, go through setup and actually make a call (calling your mailbox is fine). Then check your ims status (*#*#4636#*#*, goto phone info, pull ims status) to see that ims is actually working.
Shutdown the phone and start installing LOS (use the partition copy script too to make sure that the partitions not touched by LOS installation are updated "on the other flash bank").
Go through LOS setup, select a valid APN for your setup, set "LTE only" or "LTE / WCDMA" for the network and make a call. You should be good to go.
Again this is what I had to do to get LTE working with AT&T USA. YMMW.
Markus.
I know this is way late, and you probably already figured it out. I didn't share the no text problem. The Problem isn't just the "LTE" setting itself. There is one more option(some Roms show it, some don't) I believe its in the phone app settings? VOLTE must be checked. I have noticed Some Roms do have this option and some don't. when volte is checked, it'll keep your data/internet on during a call, some Roms that option won't show up or isn't available. I haven't used G7 in a while, but I do remember the problem and how to fix (on my phone anyway).
