Honor 8 [FRD -L02] Indian Varient - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi Developers no updates for Indian varient. I'am using FRD-L02C675B350 Indian varient and having 1 Sep 2017 security patch. I used @firmwareFinder to check for updates but nothing gone good.
Other models like FRD-L19 etc and running on 1 Jan 2018 security patch. So please help us. I dont know every Indian model is having same problem. Please help me?

Oh crap sorry. It so surprising. Honor India has always had a bad rep for giving out updates. Even in the old Honor 7 they didn't release any security patch after August whereas other models recieved more patches.

Thats the only fkin reason why i rebranded to L09.. Honor india suks when it comes to pushing out updates..
Had FRD L02C675.. Now at FRD L09C432 on december security patch..

Yup. There is this career in India called Jio and they use a 4G only network. So for calls they use VoLTE. Unfortunately phones which aren't made for the Indian market (Like L04 and L09) aren't compatible with that network. Like they'll work but they need an app to call and calling doesn't work when the phone is on WiFi.
U might not have the option since ur carrier doesn't use it.

No Volte support for frd l04. I even tried a migisk module to enable volte but that aint working too..
But Jio sim is working. Cant use the stock dailer though. Have to use jiovoice to make calls and always have to enable location to recieve calls.. Its annoying but have to live with it .

I bought Honor device as because they provided us guarantee for 2 years of software updates and will provide all security updates after 2 years.... But i think they all are only for canvasing the product.
Atleast they can provide security patch for India model. Honor 8 lite is also being running on 1st January 2018 security patch. Lol wtf... Y they are not providing their promise for Indian models.
I read in an article about Nokia 8 that HMD started rolling out Android 8.1 for their device....
And we are still running Android 7.0 with 1 year old security patch....?

Huawei/Honor should not ignore indian consumers like this if they want to succeed in India. No updates or security patches since september. they should learn from xiaomi which is still providing updates for its 4-5 years old devices.

i got mail from [email protected] for soak test
I got one too like 3 months ago
They are probably adding more people to the test, the question is what version will the new testers get, if the same already out or a new one. Let's hope it's a new one and someone leaks it here.

Don't post that you got invite for SOAK tests, Motorola asks users to keep the information regarding SOAK tests confidential and might withdraw your name from the list
Simply its a mobile software.nothing more than that...and no need to fear about revealing the info..there will be no update for our mobile after marshmallow..

And not a single twrp backup? Or at least some credible proof?
Btw in europe they sell also the indian XT1068 with the same build so whenever indian users get an update we are also getting it. So you're saying that noone from india and EU has made a backup or captured the OTA? I honestly doubt that.
coz they become extra honest.

Nougat(Android 7.0) update available

Hey, guys
According to the Motorola announcement, Nougat update has been released for our device.
Here's the link -
https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/115401
To update.
For me it's not working and saying software up to date.
So, was anyone able to install the update?
Not avaiable for me too, also saying it's up to date.
According to the mods in the Motorola forums those are the release notes but it HAS NOT been released to anyone outside of the soak tests.

Because I will try with SamFirm application to download the firmware.
It is delayed in TUrkey, too. It seems because of UK rom has problems, besides it seems ota update will be available all over the world. CEO of Samsung TR said they are ready and waiting for permission of Samsung Global.

EMUI 5.1 for Honor 8 [Semi-Confirmed]

Hi guys, i was googling about Android O for Honor 8 information (because i want to hope that Honor keep their promises), and my searching lead me to this website with some info about EMUI 5.1 instead. They say that this list (i will attach it below) is confirmed by Honor but i can't tell you if that's true...however, if it is we're going to get EMUI 5.1 and still on Nougat (so probably no Android O). What do you think? Can we trust that we'll miss O and get 5.1? We'll get both? Or miss both? Feel free to share your toughts.
We will miss both ?
Sent from my FRD-L04 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
We will get none, they want to sell more of the new phones, thus force obsoleted Honor 8s
They can't even provide timely updates for the Android security patches so how are we to expect to receive Android O? EMUI 5.1 I couldn't care less about. EMUI 5 is fine (nothing more) as long as you use a custom launcher.

I just found those info on the web as i sad in the op, however in my opinion every update wich aims to enhance the user experience and the overall use of a phone is always welcome. In this case i'd prefer Android O, but apart this anything else useful is welcome too. I agree with the fact that they didn't provide monthly security patches (that's bad) but it's an Honor fault as on the Huawei side the old P8 is still receiving security patches...but i'm new to Huawei/Honor so i'll trust users who own their devices since more time than me... Finally Honor promised 24 months of updates... we just have to hope for the best. The H8 is a very good phone, i'm very satisfied with it, would really be a shame if the software side (i mean frequent/qualitative updates) can't be as good as the hardware side
Just received B340 update weighing about 340MB which fixes Jio VoLTE calls and bumps the Security patch to July 5. Still no 7.1 though. Hope Huawei updates this to atleast O before abandoning this awesome phone. To give a thought, I recently purchased dual Sim LG G6 which was comparatively laggy and not as smooth as Honor 8 and had March Sec. Update. And I didnt received a single update till the time I had it with me.
