Hello,
I am thrilled by the idea to merge my work phone and my private phone into one device. That's why I collected much information over the past weeks about dual sim phones and even got myself a testing device.
I am currently sitting in front of a Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) and have been setting it up the past hours.
The result is disillusioning at best.
I am therefore seeking the help of you dual sim pros out there.
Is there any device/software which allows me to strictly split
contacts
dialer
messages
For contacts it would be great to have an app with the option to switch between work and private contacts by pressing just one button instead of being forced to dig through the settings to change the contact group to be displayed.
The dialer should work similarly and therefore just show calls from/to either my work or my private sim.
Messages should be shwon seperately for every sim card as well.
After having done my research I tend to believe that Samsung has the best out of the box software for dual sim support with "dual messaging". But it still is a pain in the ass to be honest.
Then there are paralell space and the alike but do not seem to be good solutions either.
There must be some convenient solution that I haven't found. I refuse to believe that all dual sim users are getting along with these hurdles.
Please tell me I'm right!
Best regards
Dietmar

In contact you can group it into your work/private. In dialer you can set up call always ask it will ask you about you want call using sim 1 or sim 2.Like for me, im using sim 1 for private and sim 2 for other. Then in message i dont think so you can seperate it.But you choose sim 1 or sim 2 to send the message.About the dual messenger are limited to certain app like whatsapp, fb, & etc..and this is all about i know hope it will help you a little bit. Here the screenshot attached.

What you're asking for could be solved by using the "secure folder" feature. Or Android's built in "Multi user mode" feature, but samsung doesn't include it in their stock ROMs. You can root to add it and create a separate google account for the other user account.

Is there anyway to hide the contacts saved on your SIM?
That is, at the moment I have all my contacts saved on the phone with their full details, I also have a basic copy of my contacts saved on my SIM for when the SIM is placed into my second phone (Small phone used when out on the beer  )
But when I open up the Caller ID contacts by default it shows all contacts, both on phone and SIM so I end up getting duplication.
I know I can set the view to Contacts only every time I go into it but I would prefer a more default way of doing it.
Also I'm finding that Caller ID contacts takes a while to open and list all contacts even when my SIM card is empty, is this normal?
Thanks for any help.
A bit off topic, but
Here in germany I can get duplicate sims, so i have one phone for the weekend, and one for work, with both the same number, and the last one i just used or switched on is active. Try that for the UK
duplicate sims
What make of sim?
. I tried the "magic" multi sim, but the hash is incompatiuble with vodafone(uk). There is probably a hack, but I can't find it.
I dont think any of the sims in UK work with the multi sims or similar products because they use the latest protection, I ended up with 3 destroyed sims while trying. I got in touch with the makers in hong kong and they confirmed that uk sims will not work unless somebody comes up with new software for hacking/cloning.
Hi,
I posted this on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49978192
as I was utterly ignored (probably my fault) I am reposting here, hopefuly is both the right place and it gets the right visibility.

I am sure if this relates to this post, but as I unlocked the phone using this method I hope someone else can help.
I follow the steps listed here to unlock the phone and I am using it with NET10 in USA. My SPH-L720 has a NET10 card in it and I am connected to their network (No LTE, but the internet is still fast enough). I also changed the method listed here to change the phone number listed on settings ##MLS# and enter the number on both fields.
At this point everything works on the phone except for a really annoying detail.
Every call I get (and these are local US calls, not international) has a + (plus sign) at the front.
this is triggering two problems
1- the number shown on the caller id of the incoming call does not always match a number on my phone book. This is a problem as I don't know who is calling.
2- if I dial back, to call the number who called me, the call does not go through.
Now, if I go to the address book I can call any saved number.
The SIMM card i put on this S4 came from a Galaxy S2, which was working perfectly (not having these issues) - (I had to cut it to make it a micro)
At this point the only solution I have found is to use a program called Prefixer (apk) which will change the first character of every outgoing call to a +1. This of course will force me to edit every number on my phonebook and add the + (as otherwise prefixer will be changing any "first" character into a +1). I do have a lot of numbers
I wonder if someone can come up with a solution which does not involve something like this.
I hope the issue is understood, it has taken me three days to explain it to the NET10 team, and all they always asked was if I needed to make an international call (retards) :/
Thanks for all the help.
This is my work around so far, but I wish I could find a native solution to the problem
1- I exported all my contacts from google and fixed all the number in my address book only to include area code and number (no other symbols or spaces, etc) as in 305765342
2 downloaded: Prefixer from 253°Below (sorry I am new, can't post links)
I programmed two incoming and two outgoing rules using regular expressions to remove the + and +1 in front of numbers
The only annoying thing is that that app vibrates and provides a notification everytime one of the rules is triggered.
I wonder if anyone has a better idea on how to fix this.
Thanks
anyone know if there is any way to assign a contact to use a particular Sim with out switching using the Sim manager, when yo dial a number you get the option to select the Sim to use but the contact seem to only use the selected Sim ATM i hang up and you can the redial and select the Sim ( i have my home Sim and works Sim in the phone )
I have tried Samsung but the are unhelpful as i am using the phone in the UK and its not supported in this region,
If anyone in a region where the dual Sim version is supported has 5 mins to chat to samsung via there web chat can ask the question if there is any way to set a contact to dial using sim1 and another contact to use sim2 the ask them to request the feature be added via there dev team it may get added or i may just have to go back to LG as they have better call control..
thanks in advance

Hi,
I also have a G935FD and indeed, you're right I haven't found anything to be able to choose from which sim card you want to call when calling via contacts. It works only when you dial from the touchpad...
Complaining at Samsung might help to implement that process in the upcoming updates.

This is exactly what I found bit annoying, you couldn't set preference per number as which SIM to use out of the box (by not using any app.. just plain OS based solution), I couldn't find any. Tried asking on this & other forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/sgs7-changes-marshmallow-t3353208
On the play store, found couple of paid apps that were doing the job, but one of them was not working on v6.0.1 (app creator was still in process of upgrading app to work on MM v6.0.1), another app gives you 7 days of free usage but costed £5 after that. I also tried to create a solution using Tasker, but it required a plugin which was first app that I mentioned was still under upgrade.
Frustrated with these problems, I decided to take control myself & now I'm in the process of developing an app that will exactly address the number-SIM preference. I found that Android has exposed a multi SIM API in version 5.1, but it's so poorly documented that I got really really angry about lack of information. Somehow I managed to build a workable copy of app. In this app you can specify rules based on Regular Expression number matching as which SIM to use if the dialed number matches regular expression specified. There is also an auto learning feature, where it will remember SIM for a number to dial.
As I said, I'm still in the process of developing this app, it's not professionally perfect but definitely does the job for now.. (It takes lot of time as I'm not an app developer & devoting time is a problem ), there are many features I want to implement in this app, but let's see when I find time. It's working perfectly on my S7E dual sim (I can't guarantee that it will work on any other device - although it should as app is built using androind 5.1 API -- I haven't tested on any other device).
If you need a copy of APK, do PM me & I'll send you one.. I've also posted same message here.
i will be interested to see the final version, ask always is working as a temporary fix.
preferred sim not working
for me if i click on a contact to call someone then it asks call from sim1 or sim 2 but i already chooses sim2 as preference. if i use swipe it is going from sim 2.

Hey all its been a while since I posted here, I know a few are having this issue.
-when receiving a call from some one that's is in your address book, it only displays a phone number . No name or picture.
What's iv tried, resetting phone, adding a few contacts to my sim, tried adding contacts from my goolgle account directly to my phone address book.
I was on the ZTE site where the same question has arised but no fix as of yet. Was wondering if someone on here had cracked this problem.
Thanks in advance! :good:

Someone put up a youtube fix for that on the same thread you linked. Seems like it solve that problem.
Honestly this zmaxpro is good on the outside but rotten in the inside, seriously. Too many bugs. I don;t know if it is the phone build or the new verity security google or android put on. It's nuts. How can you really put a proper security on something that started as OPEN source?!
Nutty.
Try this video that someone made. I tried it and it worked for me. https://youtu.be/W6xFNNW8PxM

Easier fix
I found a much easier fix. Go to the permissions on T-Mobile Nam ID and turn contacts on. That did the trick for me.

Yes, that worked for me also. Since I have yet to attain the status of being able to post outside link, there is a simple method by Hiii People on youtube.
Here's a little tip for those who are using this phone with a non-Tmobile sim, in which case the Tmobile CallerID app doesn't function right, and causes the names not to show up on incoming calls. If it's a MetroPCS used with a non-MetroPCS sim, you may need to substitute the Tmobile NameID app with MetroPCS NameID. I know this is easy stuff, but some people get confused , so here are two workarounds:
1. When the NameID app gets stuck loading, press the Recents button, hold down the top left corner of the app card, then press the top right.
Finally go to permissions and select the Contacts to be On.
2. Simply go to Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Tmobile NameID app, and from there just like above go to permissions and select the Contacts to be On.
So I have two Sims, one for business & one for Personal. I have my business account with all those contacts in it & I have my personal account with my personal contacts. I found a sim manager app that lets me pick which account it assigns what sim to a phone call.
So account A automatically calla with the personal sim & account B uses the business.
However, it doesn't override the native controls of call handling from Android. I did set the native controls to 'ask everytime' and the app works, but I still get the annoying popup that I have to close out of. Almost nullifying the purpose of the app anyway. (have no idea why nobody has expanded on this idea, the native Dual Sim stuff is so uninspiring haha)
Any tips on how to disable the native sim handling calling service? Build prop edit maybe? Idk any tips would be appreciated!
Edit: I should probably mention that I'm on Lineage OS & I do have root. Sorry, that should have been an obvious thing to mention.
