So I have two Sims, one for business & one for Personal. I have my business account with all those contacts in it & I have my personal account with my personal contacts. I found a sim manager app that lets me pick which account it assigns what sim to a phone call.
So account A automatically calla with the personal sim & account B uses the business.
However, it doesn't override the native controls of call handling from Android. I did set the native controls to 'ask everytime' and the app works, but I still get the annoying popup that I have to close out of. Almost nullifying the purpose of the app anyway. (have no idea why nobody has expanded on this idea, the native Dual Sim stuff is so uninspiring haha)
Any tips on how to disable the native sim handling calling service? Build prop edit maybe? Idk any tips would be appreciated!
Edit: I should probably mention that I'm on Lineage OS & I do have root. Sorry, that should have been an obvious thing to mention.

Hi Everybody!
I own an ICONIA A501 since 4 days and I love it!
Since I use a prepaid account to connect to the internet (vodafone.de) I want to recharge that account with some money as soon as it go towards zero Euros...
Well, in order to do that I have to buy some voucher and then call a number (which is free of charge). And here the problems begin:
I need to be able to place calls with a dialer so that I can enter the code on the voucher. As far as I discovered there are no such apps on the A501.
Then I installed some USSD code apps but they didn't work, just like the app "myDialer lite". I can dial but then nothing happens.
Correct me if I am wrong but did Google/Acer simply forget that there are users out there which do not have data plans but prepaid accounts?
I don't want to use my A501 like a Smartphone! For that purpose I have and love my Galaxy I9003.
Are there ANY solutions? At the moment I have at least 2 ways: 1) swap the SIM with another phone and 2) let my prepaid provider draw the money from my credit card.
However, I hope someone has some other approach!
Best regards,
Werner

Hi,
thanks for the reply. I know that the tablet is not intended to be a phone. Would be rather funny to put it to the ear...
However, for those like me with prepaid account it would have been nice to enable us to send at least USSD codes in order to check balance of the prepaid account. I hope I can make it clear.
I really DO NOT want to place regular phone calls (it would be a nice feature though), just call the service line in order to re-charge my prepaid account.
I know this sounds like: "He do not want to use the tablet like a mobile phone but he wants to use it like a mobile phone..."
It's weird I know, but my prepaid provider (Edeka Mobil; uses vodafone.de) give the option to buy a voucher and then call the "Kontomanager" free of charge. During the call I will have to enter the cash code number and then the amount will be credited to my prepaid account. Therefore I am in need of a dialer for phoning AND typing. And IMO Google/Acer forgot us prepaid users.
Werner
I understand well
what I mean is... the tablet will act more as like a Dongle 3G rather than a phone...
I think you can't have the way "not sure" to use for send SMS or MMS or USSD or call... with the tablet...
I agree the tablet does not have the hardware to Dial out to a service. Check and see if the carrier has a update web site to do what you for purchase. Or check out the Google voice service they give you a phone number that routs phone information to txt Google email and chat
But I do not know much about its limits or ability or availability in your country
Good luck

I don't think they forgot. It is just that your specific need is not significant enough to have it included in the tablet itself when compared with the amount of users that do not use this specific way to connect to the internet.
As far as solutions goes I was thinking that maybe you could setup a SIP on your tablet: this should allow you to make and receive phone calls over the internet. I have an EVO and I was able to make phone calls with it while having the 'phone' radio off (using wifi), the only problem I see is that you'll need to have a dialer somewhere (SIP droid integrated itself into the dialer so you could set it up as the default gateway for calls or use on a specific pattern basis like GV and intl calls)
SIPdroid setup is very easy (username and pass) but the SIP provider itself might not be that easy to setup (you need to setup rules for inc calls, outgoing.. also you need to connect your GV acct with the SIP and so on)
Thanks so much for all comments!
Fortunately, my internet provider has a web interface where I can query my balance and, if I want to put money to my prepaid account, they let me do it via credit card.
That's okay for me.
To all: have a nice day!
Werner
I have just found your thread (after having posted one before ).
However, I have the same problem. Are you using fyve? I need to recharge the data plan, but cannot do it since I cannot do any phone calls. On the fyve website, I did not find any web interface to enter my code.
anyone know if there is any way to assign a contact to use a particular Sim with out switching using the Sim manager, when yo dial a number you get the option to select the Sim to use but the contact seem to only use the selected Sim ATM i hang up and you can the redial and select the Sim ( i have my home Sim and works Sim in the phone )
I have tried Samsung but the are unhelpful as i am using the phone in the UK and its not supported in this region,
If anyone in a region where the dual Sim version is supported has 5 mins to chat to samsung via there web chat can ask the question if there is any way to set a contact to dial using sim1 and another contact to use sim2 the ask them to request the feature be added via there dev team it may get added or i may just have to go back to LG as they have better call control..
thanks in advance

Hi,
I also have a G935FD and indeed, you're right I haven't found anything to be able to choose from which sim card you want to call when calling via contacts. It works only when you dial from the touchpad...
Complaining at Samsung might help to implement that process in the upcoming updates.

This is exactly what I found bit annoying, you couldn't set preference per number as which SIM to use out of the box (by not using any app.. just plain OS based solution), I couldn't find any. Tried asking on this & other forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/sgs7-changes-marshmallow-t3353208
On the play store, found couple of paid apps that were doing the job, but one of them was not working on v6.0.1 (app creator was still in process of upgrading app to work on MM v6.0.1), another app gives you 7 days of free usage but costed £5 after that. I also tried to create a solution using Tasker, but it required a plugin which was first app that I mentioned was still under upgrade.
Frustrated with these problems, I decided to take control myself & now I'm in the process of developing an app that will exactly address the number-SIM preference. I found that Android has exposed a multi SIM API in version 5.1, but it's so poorly documented that I got really really angry about lack of information. Somehow I managed to build a workable copy of app. In this app you can specify rules based on Regular Expression number matching as which SIM to use if the dialed number matches regular expression specified. There is also an auto learning feature, where it will remember SIM for a number to dial.
As I said, I'm still in the process of developing this app, it's not professionally perfect but definitely does the job for now.. (It takes lot of time as I'm not an app developer & devoting time is a problem ), there are many features I want to implement in this app, but let's see when I find time. It's working perfectly on my S7E dual sim (I can't guarantee that it will work on any other device - although it should as app is built using androind 5.1 API -- I haven't tested on any other device).
If you need a copy of APK, do PM me & I'll send you one.. I've also posted same message here.
i will be interested to see the final version, ask always is working as a temporary fix.
preferred sim not working
for me if i click on a contact to call someone then it asks call from sim1 or sim 2 but i already chooses sim2 as preference. if i use swipe it is going from sim 2.

Hello,
I am thrilled by the idea to merge my work phone and my private phone into one device. That's why I collected much information over the past weeks about dual sim phones and even got myself a testing device.
I am currently sitting in front of a Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) and have been setting it up the past hours.
The result is disillusioning at best.
I am therefore seeking the help of you dual sim pros out there.
Is there any device/software which allows me to strictly split
contacts
dialer
messages
For contacts it would be great to have an app with the option to switch between work and private contacts by pressing just one button instead of being forced to dig through the settings to change the contact group to be displayed.
The dialer should work similarly and therefore just show calls from/to either my work or my private sim.
Messages should be shwon seperately for every sim card as well.
After having done my research I tend to believe that Samsung has the best out of the box software for dual sim support with "dual messaging". But it still is a pain in the ass to be honest.
Then there are paralell space and the alike but do not seem to be good solutions either.
There must be some convenient solution that I haven't found. I refuse to believe that all dual sim users are getting along with these hurdles.
Please tell me I'm right!
Best regards
Dietmar

In contact you can group it into your work/private. In dialer you can set up call always ask it will ask you about you want call using sim 1 or sim 2.Like for me, im using sim 1 for private and sim 2 for other. Then in message i dont think so you can seperate it.But you choose sim 1 or sim 2 to send the message.About the dual messenger are limited to certain app like whatsapp, fb, & etc..and this is all about i know hope it will help you a little bit. Here the screenshot attached.
Sent from my J7 Pro using XDA Labs
What you're asking for could be solved by using the "secure folder" feature. Or Android's built in "Multi user mode" feature, but samsung doesn't include it in their stock ROMs. You can root to add it and create a separate google account for the other user account.
Greetings,
I'm currently using an app to make voip calls, but I would like to use the native android app. Ive set up SIP account, once I make a call it pops up a window where it asks for which sim card i would like to use, the added sip account is there, but if i select it, it pops up another window, asking the same question, but in this time without the sip account. What should I do? What might be reason behind this issue?
Thanks in advance!
Are there any apps available or options that will enable me to assign numbers to a specific sim card as the default?
I've installed my work phone sim into my OP6T and find it a bear to use voice call because it always asks for sim card to dial call with. I can go one by one and assign defaults but... there's gotta be an easier way.
I've found that long pressing allows you to assign in the original OnePlus dialer, not the ported Google dialer I was running. Now my issue is supporting voicemail/visual voicemail for both a metro and Verizon sim card installed.
Using the stock contacts app on my 6t. After I set up a contact, I can click on the 3 dots (by the edit pencil) and set a default sim for that contact.
