im an idiot - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

i took a wrong turn while flashing my recovery, and now there is no OS on my phone..... is there any way to flash one without a computer?

Which J3 do you own? There are several types. If you have TWRP already installed then it's a matter of downloading a custom ROM for your particular J3 if there is one. If you are on stock recovery then you'll need the proper firmware file for your variant. And it will need to be flashed via download mode and Odin for PC. Now there is an Odin for mobile BUT it requires your OS to be there and last I checked it was a bit outdated. So not even sure it would work with current firmwares if your OS was still on the device. So most likely you'll need access to PC to flash proper firmware for your J3. None of this is very helpful to your current situation I know but it is pretty much where you are unless you have TWRP recovery installed and there is a custom ROM for your J3 that you can download and flash via the phone. I wish you luck.

TWRP Doesn't work

I flashed the latest TWRP On my i9505 from Here and flashed a custom ROM "Euphoria"
it's a bit laggy and camera crashes a lot, battery's first enemy and heatseeking missile can track me easily while using my phone...
so i wanted to change the ROM To another one but now i cannot get my phone into recovery mode, every time i go to recovery it restarts the phone, any help installing this new ROM without doing it with the custom recovery? Sorry for making this thread so long to read
The link to twrp is under the 9506 development forum. Not sure if the 9505 and 9506 are able to work with the same recovery.
Try flashing twrp from twrp.me.
Re-flash recovery.
It is obviously not for your device model. Don't even know why it worked in the first place.
Anyway, don't forget to untick auto reboot in Odin.
Or, you could probably use TWRP manager from the play store.

When i downloaded the TWRP Manager, there was no model for my i9505, i also looked in twrp.me and i found nothing compatible with my device. What should i do? this ROM is killing me!
Isn't the i9505 the international Qualcomm version of the s4?
https://dl.twrp.me/jfltexx/
It is also known as jfltexx.
You can use the tar version and flash it with Odin
Or
You could use the img version and flash it with the app Flashify (Flash as recovery).
Try auto restore

No os installed - Note 4 - SM-910C

Basically I wiped EVERYTHING from the phone with TWPR (didn't mean to, kind of foolish I know). So basically I can not do anything but go in to download mode. How do I fix this?
If you mean that you need a new Firmware right now for your device, You can find it on here . Just enter your device model (n910f, n910c , etc) Then flash it using odin .. blah blah blah
Thanks !
You don't have to install stock rom all you need is external sd card which contains custom rom to install that's it

Download eRobot ROM from here, read the instructions - How to install.
copy the files in your SD card and install eRobot ROM. It is very easy to install and excellent performance.
Flashing custom roms need a custom recovery which the OP doesn't have right now if i understand him correctly.
The correct step right now is to flash the official stock rom in download mode via odin.

Help recovering data

So I have a friend who decided to mess with his phone, of course without doing a backup, and now he's stuck in a situation that it can't boot even into recovery.
Currently all I see when booting to recovery:
Recovery Booting. . . . .
Set Warranty Bit : recovery
The phone is G900F
He has no idea what version was installed on it before.
I don't need the phone to boot, I need to recover the files on it.
Being a oneplus person myself, I'm not that familiar with samsung phones (my latest samsung was s2).
I've tried to install with odin (3.0.7 - if that matters) the following recoveries:
official twrp 2.8.7
twrp
cwm
All these recoveries showed "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing" message as well as the above when trying to boot into recoveries.
I've tried the official recovery as well:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/sm-g900f-stock-recovery-5-0-lollipop-t3228871
which removed the "seandroid" message, but that's all.
Not sure what I'm missing.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hmm...
I see that your friend messed up his phone very well .....
Hopefully the eMMC memory is not corrupted becuase then only motherboard replacement would be necessary.
Summarising what you wrote:
1. you flashed "official recovery 2.8.7" -> where did you get it from? 2.8.7 is the very old version!
2. you flashed unofficial TWRP very old (2014) recovery (I checked your link)
3. you flashed unofficial CWM very old (2014) recovery (I checked your link)
4. finally you flashed stock, from old OS 5.0 Lollipop recovery provided from entrusted source - nobody reported that it works in the thread.
I listed this for you in order to underline one thing - READ, READ, READ, ASK, ASK, ASK .... before flashing anything to the phone and tell it to your friend.
Le's start with flashing from ODIN ver 3.12.7 (I am using it) this version of TWRP:
twrp-3.1.1-0-klte.img.tar for G900F which is the latest official recovery:
https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys5qualcomm.html
Read how to flash it with odin method (when you open the link).
Edit: Are you sure the phone is SM-G900F? Please check model number on the label under battery (inside the phone).
Edit2: When you enter odin mode check phone model version as well - it is provided by installed bootloader.

First, thank you for trying to help me!
Please see attachments:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1euC7-CoBeeUQxTGXQnPPgRE2-5VxFXLh
You can see that it is indeed g900f. I've also checked under the battery.
I've flashed the recovery you asked, however I could not find odin 3.12.7 only 3.12.10, so I've flashed with that (the odin thread on xda does not provide a link for 3.12.7 download).
You can see that it's still not booting with that recovery, it's just stuck at "booting recovery" screen.
I'm thinking perhaps it has a bad bootloader? How would you suggest to proceed?

Ok. Let's continue ... I hope (as I had very similar situation) that the phone is not hardbricked and eMMC memory is not corrupted -> I faced this on my phone and finally had to replace motherboard.
But let's be optimistic:
1. For data recovery - I don't have a silver bullet for this but I found this software: http://www.recover-android-iphone.com/recover-android/how-to-recover-data-bricked-samsung.html
It needs working odin mode so under condition that it supports s5 G900F it should be able to restore some data.
2. For unbricking - I recommend to flash via odin the latest official Samsung stock firmware dedicated to your friend's country/region:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s5/SM-G900F/
You must be registered to download the software. Link for odin 3.12.7 is available on the bottom of the download page.
Just to underline - odin flash most probably (anybody please confirm that) will wipe your data so be aware of that.
Good luck.

Why a full firmware is needed? Perhaps I can flash only the parts required to get into recovery? I count mount the phone from recovery, that's why it's my priority.
I would like to know also if odin will wipe everything if flashing a full firmware?

Because it is commonly recommended way to unbrick a phone.

Perhaps, yes. But:
1. I don't exactly know what restricts your recovery to run properly. Flashing separate recovery failed.
2. You, for example, could try flashing separately one of the latest bootloaders dedicated to G900F from BL section with odin but I doubt it would help.

As far as I know yes but I am not 100% sure because I didn't try that myself on s5.
I would appreciate if somebody else confirms that.

In my opinion, if odin mode works then bootloader should be OK. But as you wish -
tell me first what stock firmware will you later on trying to flash on your friends phone or in which country the phone will be operated.

Latest available Firmware version for Hong Kong is G900FZHS1CQD1 however I can't find a separate flashable bootloader for you.
Generaly, in my opinion you might try any of the latest bootloaders compatible with SM-G900F phone (here you can find a collection: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54094068&postcount=3, I am on G900FXXS1CQI4) but again:
1. I doubt it will help for entering recovery;
2. I still recommend to flash complete stock firmware to unbrick the phone.
However if you anyway decide to try with a bootloader, flash it with odin from BL section (untick auto reboot). Also turn off the phone before and after flashing and pull out battery for about 30 sec. It happens that bootloader doesn't flash properly at once even the odin says "PASS" so some people reported that they needed to repeat flashing a few times. I managed to flash bootloader at first time.
Unfortunateely the phone is not with me anymore, so I won't be able to continue testing. Thank you anyway for trying to help me! I really appreciate your help!

Might have Bricked S7 Edge SM-935FD. Need Help to recover

Hello guys
My phone is Galaxy S7 Edge Duos- SM935FD. I seem to have bricked the device.
Below are the actions I have performed.
1. Flashed TWRP using ODIN as described on https://www.the***********.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge/
2. Booted successfully into the OS. Found superuser app installed.
3. When I went to back to Flash ROM i erased multiple things such as internal storage/dalvik/cache/system after which device got stuck in bootloop. Showing NO OS.
4. I tried flasing Custom ROM Zip files through OTG. The process failed showing package corrupt and still stuck in bootloop.
I can enter recovery/download mode however cant seem to get the device booted. How can I get the device to work either Custom or stock ROM.
I will be going through some threads in the meantime, your guidance is very much appreciated.
Flash stock rom with Odin: This shouldnt be posted on Development Forum but rayher questions and Answers.
Find what your Stock Firmware for your phone is using Sammobile and flash stock then re do rooting and TWRP Process
zzThrain is right -- I wouldn't risk flashing custom ROMs at this stage, especially because many contain new bootloaders or other stuff that might make this even worse for you. Just pick up the relevant Samsung stock ROM file (from, for example, SamMobile) and see if it boots normally again. Once it does, re-do the process *after checking all MD5s of the files you used* -- I, too, have had it happen before that a download went corrupted and I flashed it. If all is well, get into Download Mode and let Odin rip.

Go to recovery mode & transfer rom to phone using pc. wipe cache, delvikcache, data only. No need to wipe internal sd. Install rom & reboot.
if you phone goes to recovery or download mode, no need to worry. If it doesn't go to neither recovery nor download mode, them your phone might have probably bricked.
It's my pleasure to help you if you still facing this problem

Hi
I tried flashing stock rom from sammobile. I could find for SM-935FD hence downloaded SM-935F.
It got stuck at 90% showing System in ODIN.
From the ZIP file which is the file that needs to be flashed among below ? I tried AP.
AP_G935FXXU2DRB6_CL12365438_QB16944063_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar

HOME_CSC_OJV_G935FOJV2DRAG_CL12785220_QB16560277_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
Now when I try again it immediately shows FAIL. Am i Flashing the right stock rom ?
It Worked. Thanks to all who helped.
I wasn't running ODIN as Admin and also was using an slightly older version V3.10.7.

Need help rooting Galaxy Tab E

Hi everyone,
I apologize in advance if this is posted in other threads, but I have tried several methods i found on the site without success.
I am trying to root a Sasmsung Galaxy Tab E SM-T377T running Android 7.1.1.
I have ODIN, and i am able to flash to it. However, the threads say that I need to boot directly into the recovery mode when it's flashed. Well, I've tried two TWRP versions, and one doesn't seem to make any difference at all, and the older one which I thought for sure would work locked the device and I had to reflash to boot.
I'm guessing that the issue is that i'm not flashing the correct recovery, but I'm unsure. If someone could try to assist, I'd be grateful. Thanks!
