Playstore not working - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

My mom has a S8, on cellcom. She has only 1.5 gigs of data. I have unlimited so I share my hotspot. She can only download apps on WiFi, Not her data. This is problematic because my data is slow with a 0.10 megabit a second rate. I need to get the play store to work, I tried to clear the cache and delete all updates. Any suggestions?

Anyone?

Best way to disable 3G/data connection on Vibrant?

Hey guys! Just got my vibrant today, it is a beautiful phone. Going to root it and remove all the bloatware in a second here
Quick question for you guys-my current plan with T-Mobile does not include data. In the few hours I've owned the Vibrant, it has already sucked down several MBs of data...what is the best way to disable the data connection altogether? I only want to use data over wifi, nothing else.
Some googling revealed the app 'APNdroid'-is this still the best way to disable data, or is there a more current solution for the Vibrant?
Thanks!
That's odd. What plan are you on that allows you to access data without having a data plan?
To access data, I assume you'd need T-Zones at the very least (unless there's something even older that I'm forgetting). In which case, you will be nagged to upgrade to the 'Android Data Plan' after about 6-12 hours.
So confused.
I have a grandfathered myfaves plan. I definitely don't have data, was pretty confused when my phone started using data on the drive home. It completed a Google search for me and the 3g icon popped up in the notification bar. Hmmm....
Well if it helps any, I know for Bell Canada at least, even if you don't have a plan with a data addition, you can still access data (except at a really ludicrous rate).
(Or actually, this might be the case only because bell always put's it's browsers and junk on phones, even its feature phones)
Call T-Mobile and ask for a data block.

Att using wifi data usage towards the allowed 2GB

I been connected to wifi for the past 3 hours. I got on my work computer and registered on ATT.com for an online account. Which at that time I noticed that I had only used 4mb of data. I then played with my phone for about 5-10 minutes while still on wifi. I then got back online and logged into my ATT account to sign up for the insurance and I just so happened to check the data and noticed that it was at 9mb...or something like that.
So basically ATT is using wifi data usage towards the allotted 2GB of data.
No. It doesn't update instantly, it takes a while. During that lag you probably used data.
What FLAC said. There is anywhere from a 2-8 hour lag on data usage being updated on the web. Same as call or text history, sometimes calls might even be 24 hours before showing up online.
Oh ok....thanks everyone. I was just a little worried.

Yeah, me especially. I've used 900MB over wifi. I've used about 6MB over network. I have a 200MB data plan.

[Q]How many MB of mobile data per month do you use?

Hey, guys.
I am about to sign up a new contract with my carrier, but I am in doubt... I hesitate between two post-paid programs.
1. The first one has 1500 minutes on the same network and only 30 minutes included for calls to numbers in different network. It has unlimited data with 1GB on maximum speed (HSDPA) and after that, speed drops to 128 kbps.
2. The second one has 300 minutes/month to any network in my country or numbers from International zone 1 (USA, Canada...).30 minutes out of the 300 can be used roaming in the EU. All this is great, as I never use more than 300 mins/month. The downside, however is that there are only 300 MB on maximum speed included and when they are gone, the speed drops to 64 kbps (and I don't even know how slow this is - what can you do at this speed... is it enough for Viber, skype calls and stuff like this, how long would an average webpage load at this speed...)
So, guys, help me out here. How many megabytes/month do you use and what do you use them for?
I am goiung to need it for Viber calls, rarely skype calls, corporate exchange server e-mail, Beautiful widgets home widget with weather updates every hour, medium web browsing... I do have very fast wifi connections at home and work, but if I need to travel, I need to be able to rely on my data connection, as my work depends on good internet (I am a support specialist - use e-mail, skype, phone and often VNC or Remote desktop.)
What would you recommend, and how much data/month are you using?
Thanks
As for my usage, its around 900-1000 MB/month.
Use it for e-mails, some video streaming, normal internet usage, app updates from play store, social netwrk updates, weather updates & navigation too sometimes. But I rely on the mobile network only and never use the wi-fi.
As for the bandwidth, 64kbps is way too slow for skype calls or viber calls. Though it won't affect exchanging e-mails and webpages will take a little longer to load.
On mobile - 1000MB for light browsing, navigation, play store and some emails on 2g speed
On tablet - 3000 MB for emails, vedios, browsing, downloading ROMs, internet radios on 3g speed
On laptop - Unlimited used for downloading movies, games and other stuff on 2 mbps speed
I use 300 mb just for sinc and social networks, wheater, etc. For the rest i use my WiFi connection.

normally i use 50-200MB per month without wifi, mostly for syncing and 2-3 google navigation. I have contract with 100MB fast, then 56kbit.
56kbit is enough for google navigation. Browsing with 56kbit and android browser is very slow, a bit better with opera turbo.
Eg. for this site i had with android browser 4.0.4
with wifi=11s
with 3g=20s
with 2g edge=3m50s
Haha, i have the midget data plan at max of 50mb at high speed HSDPA (when it works on my defy anyway )
I have a very cheap plan though, as I dont use much data on the go.
Also, Auris, where can I fix this data stuff?
Cheers
I used about 200mb on my old phone, about 500-600mb on my defy, up to 2gb when my home net was down...
Email, news and weather, xda, google searches, play store updates, facebook, ... I use my phone on 3g or wifi don't care... apart from download of videos, music, cm9 nightly etc I wait for wifi.

[Q] High Data Usage (Android OS)

I've been going over my data this month.
My android OS just hit 1.5gb. Its ridiculous. I turned off all google back up and any account sync.
I searched all through the internet for any solutions that may work but all fail.
Then i just did a test to find out what is causing the android os to raise.
I use my 4G and sometimes LTE depending on the area, while driving on my car listening to pandora.
So i'm skipping a few song on pandora, and what do you know. It raises at least 3mb per song skip.
Keep in mind, my phone is rooted, and has a few mod for unlimited skip for pandora.
But why does it use up all my android OS data when there is a separate section for pandora data?
I don't know why that is, but you should look into Opera max beta to conserve your limited data issues. Just google that up could be very useful. I never try it because I'm on unlimited:laugh:
I'm dealing with the same issue, vs980. Went thru 4gb in less than 2days! Verizon is working with me on this so that's cool, I'm on the grind trying to isolate the issue and they're running a report/ticket to try & help track it down. I use a ton of data monthly, but when i upped my plan 4gb and the next day i was over again i knew something had to be wrong. I'll post back when i figure out more...I'm on a mission!

I faced the same problem, issue was somewhat with auto backup of data, sync of app data & people details in google account,
BUT the main culprit in my case was uTorrent application.
Even though there was no torrent added to it, i didn't even opened it,
it was using 1GB data daily on WiFi and in data usage it was coming under Android OS usage. I uninstalled it, everything went back to normal.
So try to look for such apps which eat up your data in background, it may not be an error of android OS as such.
Hope this helps, Press THANKS if it did help you
Enjoy
Simple RSS was an absolute data hog all of a sudden as well....finally had to delete it.

Bypass T-Mobile Tethering Throttle

Is there a way to bypass this? I have unlimited everything with them, but only 14G tethering limit then super throttled. Any ideas smarter rooters?
I had the same problem with MetroPCS.. 8gb LTE hotspot then throttled.
I installed the latest purenexus and have been tethering to the Xbox to play cod for the past week and my hotspot data allotment hasn't been touched at all. I don't know what kind of witchcraft is happening because I tried everything and nothing worked... tried the build prop edit, settings dB edit, APN settings , VPNs, you name it, I tried it and nothing worked
but then I had the itch to flash pure Nexus and BAM.. unlimited, un throttled tethering

I'm also on Pure Nexus. Gaming actually doesn't run up as much data as you'd think unless you're downloading heavy patches etc.

I have the T-Mobile One plan, which has unlimited data & tethering, the rub is that the they route all tethered traffic to a throttled network (complete with separate external IP), so all my tethered devices enjoy the blistering speeds of 512kbps (yeah, that is bits, with latency in excess of 1500ms, that is 1.5s). I suppose I could live with it if the latency was so terrible. Meanwhile, my phone has an LTE connection with speeds hitting upwards of 40Mbps, with latency ~70-90ms.
I have had success using PDANet+ with the hide my usage feature, but I'm looking for 1-time set up solution that doesn't require dedicated software on the client end. I've experimented with TTL settings (as pointed out on Reddit), and with Windows it's not as straightforward, and I haven't had any luck. Obviously PDANet+ proves tethering can be done through my T-mobile's faster "non-tethered network", the solution has just eluded me on Windows.
Can anyone offer some input? Maybe I've done something wrong with setting the default TTL on Windows (I'd prefer to have it by interface, opposed to setting it globally). I'd also prefer to keep my Nexus 6P running stock software as I use Android Pay and Netflix.
