I have a SM-G900W8 boot-looping device, none of HOME firmwares could have helped me to amend the phone.
The device is still bootlooping, and I was told there was a FIRMWARE firmware which consists of 4 files, it's usually being called the service firmware as well.
This firmware could help me to stop the bootlooping process.
I've been searching this kind of firmware here, then i've checked out 3 different firmwares at fw.updato.com, but none of them are service.
Could anyone please tell me if is it possible to find the certain service firmware?
Service firmware will wipe data and cache partitions in your phone, this is the difference.
You can try to do it by yourself from recovery.
Wiping cache partition only should help if it's a software problem.
Or try to use samfirm tool to download the latest service firmware for your phone.
You'll have to enter your phone's model, CSC and tick "Binary nature".
Samfirm tool points me to fw.updato.com, which has been used already. I downloaded 3 firmwares and none of them suites me.

I wish i knew it. I do not know where the phone came from, i just know the model code. Neither the firmware it was bought with, nor what exactly happened.
Only odin mode is bootable. Nothing else is.

Hello! I rooted my S4 today and installed the CWM recovery and flashed my new rom which is the Foxhound 2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303239. I have had my older device rooted and i have flashed couple roms with it (huawei ideos x5) and i didn't want to lose all my files and apps from my S4 while flashing this rom, so i didn't do the factory reset thing. I wiped my cache and dalvik cache and then i flashed my rom. As soon as i got it working i was hyped and so on but i noticed that the Settings app was missing. I looked via root explorer and it wasn't in the folder /system/app/. I looked from the magical internet and didn't find anything. Nothing at all. I tried installing some setting.apk's but none of them worked. I downloaded the stock android 4.2.2 rom and copied the settings.apk from there but no, it didn't do anything. I tried also installing those setting apk's but it says 'app not installed'. I had my backup of the android 4.2.2 in my phone but when i tried to restore it to my phone, it said something about m5 sum thing or what it was i don't remember. If you have any clue, please help. I'm lost and i need guidance.
Sorry if there is some bad English, i'm from Finland.
In cwm restore settings, uncheck the check md5 sum. It should then let you restore the nandroid

None available, but I suggest you use the search function and do some reading because this has been mentioned dozens of times already. The best you can do at this point is take the phone to a BestBuys with a Sumsung Kiosk and see if they will reflash it. You need to search to find out more information about it.

Sounds like it needs to be replaced (warranty or insurance), but I would try for warranty first. If it bricked for no reason at all, I assume you are not rooted and have nothing custom on the phone? Because if you do, it could prevent a warranty claim. Samsung can and will send you a bill if they find anything has been tampered with. Good luck.
You can check here...
Mind you however, that is ONLY for devices running pre-MF3 bootloaders. If you attempt to flash it as a stock recovery on a MF3 device your end up with a brick. If your on MF3 and have a brick currently, there isn't a way to go back outside of sending the phone back to Samsung or going to Best Buy's Samsung Experience Center.

This is by far your best option, use ODIN and flash these files to return to a stock MF3. Updating to anything higher then MF3 is generally ill-advised. At least for the moment...

Have you tested or seen anyone else report that the current Safestrap works with MJ6 or you can even gain root access with MJ6?
Not being rude, but please don't offer advice if you are unsure of the outcome (this means more than one person has confirmed working or you have tested it yourself). I personally don't think it hurts to make a suggestion but let the person know it hasn't been tested or you are unsure of the outcome.
Had the OP taken your advice before you were corrected, they would have been upgraded to MJ6 with no option for running a custom ROM or getting root access (hopefully this won't be the case for long).

That might be the case I've been using winrar to extract the files. Not sure if it should make a difference but will try
So, first of all -- I get it, I'm a noob. But everyone's gotta start somewhere, and so did you.
Moving on, I had a stock Galaxy S4 i9505 on 4.2.2, locked to Portugal's Vodafone (I now understand this is probably what caused my issues).
I wiped data, cache, and flashed the Google Play Edition ROM. When the phone booted, I had no network, even after inserting the PIN number and going through the setup process. So I went to the Network Carrier selector in the Settings (Settings More - Mobile Networks - Network Operators) and selected Vodafone from the menu.
Then I got network. For 2 minutes. Then no network again, until I repeated. So this was driving me nuts, and I Googled what to do, and found out I could use an app called "Network" to try and switch from WCDMA to CDMA. So I downloaded that app, changed my network (to something - I don't know what since I can't open the app, as it crashes every time), and I'm still with the same issue.
Flashed back stock image and restored nandroid backup - nothing helped. Any solutions?
TL;DR: GS4 Locked to Vodafone -- Flashed GPe ROM -- No Network -- Flashed Stock -- Still no network
EDIT: I actually didn't quite flash back to where I was before, so I can't get my Nandroid backup to work (bootloop); I was on 4.2.2 stock, ended up flashing 4.3 stock since I couldn't find a 4.2.2, so my backup doesn't work.
Bump! Please someone help out, it's not my phone, it's my dad's, and I really have to get it to work really fast, he needs it for work.

Yea, it came locked in Vodafone, I unlocked it at a nearby GSM service. I'll take it there to see what the heck it's happening since I can't solve it myself. Thank you all for the support.
Try this...
Find the PIT file for branded phones (branded = carrier roms such as vodfona, etc)
Get SamFirm and download a branded 5.0.1 BOL3 rom, it'll download it in 4 tar.md5 files rather then one. Make sure it's a vodafone rom, it may be a csc issue.

I seen your post that your gonna try that app, which is fine.
But to answer your question, No, you do not need root to flash a stock firmware. You use a program Odin.
Now this all depends on if the 910A model has odin tar files available. I'm unsure of this.
If that app don't work and you need help with this, just let me know.

OK so I've looked into my options. And I guess I wanted to do the Odin way. The problem is the volume down button on my note 4 is not working properly. It does not want to engage. As I've looked into the Odin tutorials here on xda, it seems it is needed after flashing. Coz it is needed to wipe data cache once it goes stuck in bootloop.
Now for the stock firmware. Seems like I'm out of luck coz there is no available stock firmware on Samsung update and sammobile for my sm-n910a. Gosh don't know what to do now. I'm lost. I appreciate your help and advice. If you have any other ideas. Please do tell me.

I have the sm-n910a. It seems I can't find stock firmware for this. I've seen some posting on other sites aside from Samsung updates and sammobile, though I'm too scared to try them.
