Pretty bad battery life after JAN update? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Are you experiencing bad standby and overall poor battery life after last update?

I thought I was the only one.

More like pretty amazing! I find it better than 7.x
I'd get a lot of AndroidOS usage, now it's pretty much minimal.

Clean install may help you, battery life on Jan and Feb is great.

For the record, I am getting poor battery life as well. Clean install and everything.

(D800) Battery drain solution: ROM/kernel problem, or battery problem?

I'm a little confused and frustrated by this, and I'm not sure what is the correct solution.
I used to be on Cloudy G2, then I switched over to somboons stock ROM with Dorimanx. That was pretty good, especially with the kernel profiles from Dorimanx. But sometimes, lag just killed me. I got to the point where it took me 5 minutes to even edit a single snapchat. Battery life was meh: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of screen-on-time (SOT). I put in a new battery, and it was similar.
So I switched to Dirty Unicorns 5.1.1. Performance was really good, loved the customizations and features. Idle battery drain was pretty good too (usually less than 5% loss over night), but overall SOT was same as before. Active battery drain was pretty bad. But I couldn't get weather animations to work on the lock screen, and there was no SmartStay.
Now I'm on NDM 5.5, which is a really nice looking ROM, but performance is a bit lacking. Idle battery drain was excellent (close to Dirty Unicorns), but active battery drain was horrendous. I flashed Xceed build 16, and it was the same. Xceed build 14 is a little better, but active is still ridiculous. To give a perspective: I was on reddit, on auto brightness for about 10 minutes.... and I lost 12%. Yesterday, when I unplugged, made two 10 second calls, and then let the phone sit while I ate dinner... I lost 18% in 20 minutes.
I'm at a loss at this point. I've read some posts that said to give it a few days before judging battery life, so I'll wait a bit, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Should I try another battery switch? Is there a ROM/kernel combination that might give me better battery life? If it helps, the most common things I use my phone for are chatting, reddit, and Puzzle and Dragons.

Edit: I switched from Xceed to Dorimanx, and for whatever reason, battery drain is worse now. Here are some screenshots. This is right when I woke up, so all that battery drain was happening in my sleep. Any clues what I can do to fix? I'll probably flash another ROM later, but I'd like to know if there is something wrong with my phone or battery or something hardware related, before I go for software changes.

How is this for battery usage?

I've had a pretty serious battery drain problem which required a factory reset. It's been much better since, but I still feel it should be better because of all the great battery life reviews I keep reading. I often got 6 hours of screen on time on my opo. I'm definitely not getting that on this phone. Please have a look at these screen shots and tell me if this is normal, or if the battery life of my axon should be better.

Nougat, update notification and battery life.

Hey.
I just recieved notification for new update 1.3gb large. Nougat of course.
But I am not sure i want to update. I heard it really destroys your battery life. And well even on android marshmallow I don't have a very good battery life. So what would you advise me? Do i update or not? And if not. How the hell do I remove the update notification?
And if you could tell me how my battery life is. I think it's not that good compared to other people who calim to get 6-7 hrs SOT with 20% left.
Thanks.
Do it, don't look back ?? I kept switching back and forth myself, and now I just can't go back to old mm, nougat is just too much better
Well i guess i will have to. Since i tried everything to rempve the update notification but i just cant and it annoys me.
Did it decrease your battery life? And is my battery life good? Any ideas how to get up to 6 or 7 hrs like some people?
I did not update because I was afraid the battery life would decrease. In the test at Phonearena.com, the battery life was reduced by 10%.
that depends a lot on apps you have.
I've charged it over night, got up in the morning, played net and some ppsspp for about 3h and it went 38%, still over half battery. On MM it would go a lot faster.
key word is facebook uninstall and see for yourself.
Nougat has bad battery but too many good features.i get around 5-6 hrs sot with nougat

Hows battery on Nougat compared to MarshMallow ?

I've been notified that Nougat is available on my phone but I'm hesitant to install as I've read lots of conflicting information.
How is battery life on Nougat compared to Marshmallow ?
Battery life is the most important thing to me so id rather keep the excellent performance I'm getting in exchange for new features ,
Thanks
any updates anyone? how's the battery life and performance? any bugs?
My anecdotal experience is that the battery even lasts a wee bit longer with Nougat. I'm not a "power user" by any means, though, and obviously it all depends on how you use your phone, and how your applications behave with Nougat.
Don't notice any difference, battery life was and is still good on my G4.
Don't have any other bugs either.
There's very little difference between MM and N in terms of battery. If anything, standby is a little bit better than MM.
Anyway, battery life is still excellent.

I agree ASIG is best one i have there good battery and performance...hole to android 10 be better
Yeah I've noticed this too
I have noticed this battery drain too. What I did, I did a factory reset and installed the latest firmware via odin. Since then, I am getting a smoother as-normal battery life with stable idle drain and 7 hours of screen time approximately.
Me 2 experience battery drain on the latest firmware. Maybe its the latest magisk update. Idk
I had exactly the same issue...I let the battery drop to 0 where the phone switched off. I charged it with normal charging speed till full...repeated the process and the 2nd charge on quick and battery life back to normal
