LG G6 impossibile to update - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Just received the update via LG Bridge, but once it has finished to download (3.22gb), it says that the phone can't be updated and to try rebooting it.
Once I tried the same error popped up. Once it failed again, it prompted me to check for the errors in the update, which it found none.
i've tried to download the update again.
Stock branded LG G6, with some stock app uninstalled via adb.
I tried to factory reset to no avail.

First thing is defective usb port or cable to check.

I've solved using another computer. I still don't understand where the problem was.

Hi, I already tried changing USB port.
LG Bridge correctly allows me to perform backups, so I'm not sure this could be the problem.
I've found someone who had the same issue on Mac computers [*], however if I rename the .kdz file LG bridge won't let me go on with the update since it recognizes it as corrupted.

[Q] Flash kdz file

I have been trying to follow the flashing instructions for my LG G2 D802 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
When I click Upgrade Start from the Normal Web Upgrade Test button I get this error message.
Please Install CSMG B2C Client Tool
Select Tool -> B2C client setup menu

Has no one else had this problem before? Is there an alternate way of flashing a kdz file?
Go to tool on the site and download that b2c package. I suppose.

read the readme in the root folder. It says something about installing, then launch window something and then start from the tutorial again.
They skipped the part on how to install it lol.
Right, I have installed it now, I am using a different computer as well.
I have run into another problem now. It gets to about 15% on the phone update window and then says connect phone to usb cable.
I have looked at this picture here http://forum.xda-developers.com/picture.php?albumid=8677&pictureid=32161 and compared my device
manager. I have the top item in modems but not the LG Mobile Composite USB device. The drivers all said they installed correctly. Anyone
know how to fix this?
Thanks

This happened to me, stuck at 15% using the flash tool. I put everything I needed on a thumb drive (lg drivers, B2C setup, flash tool, .kdz file)and used another PC. Worked smoothly on a different machine.

Anyone else have any ides on this?
I have installed everything on another computer now so this is the 3rd one and I am still getting the connection issues.
If I plug the phone in via usb I can see it in windows explorer and transfer files but LgFlashTools keeps coming up that it is not connected.
It goes through a series of 3 events.
_IsConnectedPhone Call
_isConnectedPhone(0)
0 - NotConnected
1 - Normal Connect Success
2 - Emergency Connect Success
Have I not done something right or have I missed some settings in the phone.
I am using these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
Any suggestions appreciated
I would try just the lg tool from lg website, download mode, then update recovery.
that should get you the latest lg rom for your device

I downloaded the tool from the LG website but it just hangs on installation.
Is there no one that has seen my connection issue before?
My original problem stems from a wrong kdz being installed previously, I have a 32GB phone that reports 16GB.
I have but different situation
I tried various, reinstalling drivers, reboot computer. reboot phone in recovery if it still works, wipe system data cache dalvik, shutdown. connect to computer press volume up. see download mode. open tool and try again.
if that doesnt work, some other guys reported changing port number somewhere.

[Q] Can't get LG G2 back to stock / unrooted

Creating a troubleshooting thread to see if might be able to get some help on a big problem I'm having with my LG G2...
I'm trying to restore my VZ LG G2 to stock so that it can be returned (audio input is malfunctioning). I am currently running TWRP + CM 11 Nightlies on it.
When I enter download mode, I see the screen "Firmware Update" and it says "B99" and "Rooted" at the bottom.
When I use the R&D Test Tool + LGMobile Support Tool to try to restore to VS98011A_01.kdz, the software update runs on my computer as if it is pushing the update to the phone, but the phone itself shows no actual status change. It just sits there with 0% on the status bar.
When it finishes on my computer it says (on my computer) that the software update was successful. Unfortunately my phone boots into CM just like it normally does with all my apps and data there.
Based on some suggestions I have seen, I have tried manually changing to COM 41 and disabling the device as a modem in device manager -- does not make a difference.
I have no idea why no actual change is happening on the phone. Any suggestions?
Man, this is brutal. I thought that maybe the issue was that I was using the 3.10 LG United drivers instead of the 3.8 drivers, so I uninstalled 3.10 and installed 3.8.
Unfortunately now the LG G2 is recognized when it is in normal mode (running CM 11.0) but Windows shows "No drivers found" when I put it in download mode:
USB Composite Device: Ready to Use
CDC Serial: No drive found
CDC ECM: No driver found
LGE Android Phone: No driver found
Network Controller: No driver found
The last four all show up under "Other devices" in device manager with an exclamation.
Previously I was at least able to see the LG Android VZW etc. etc. under COM/Ports with 3.10 drivers installed.
I am burning so much time trying to figure this out. Mayday, mayday!
For anyone that may come across this thread in the future, I want to share what ultimately worked.
I followed the TOT method instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
It was just as easy as the KDZ method, but actually worked! Here are the two things that seemed to make a difference:
1. I installed the _Verizon_ LG drivers referenced in that thread
2. I manually changed to COM41
Following all instructions in that thread everything worked like a charm.

[Q] LG G2 USB Not Recognized

Hi, background is this..
I have a D802-10C G2 that i rooted the stock 4.2.2 rom a while back using the post chinese method. Easy enough, all worked fine. no complaints. A couple of weeks ago i got offered the OTA 4.4 update, this failed due to the root. I then removed the root using the feature in super su. that seems to have worked as no apps or file managers etc could get root access. However, the OTA still wont work.
Now my problem is my phone will no longer be recognized by any operating system, on multiple computers. I have tried many ADB drivers, Windows 7 wont even detect the device, i've used every PC connect mode, USB debugging. However always the same result, it's as if i'm plugging in a blank usb cable into the computer. Nothing at all.
The only thing that does happen when i connect the phone to a computer is the phone starts to trickle charge. There is nothing detected in Device Manager in Windows 7 I've tried connecting in download mode, nothing. I've tried the LG support tool, PC sync. Nothing.
WiFi does connect to the PC suite fine BTW and other than that the phone is working perfectly. I've also tried connecting multiple usb cables on multiple ports.
I haven't been able to find a single case of the same problem in the week or so i've been looking. Hoping someone can help, i'm thinking i may have soft bricked my phone. I really do not think this is a driver issue.
Any help would be great. cheers
Paul

YOu can try checking the device manager or use other USB port on your phone.

The problem is not like the usual ones you will see about "computer not being able to see device" I don't think it's a driver or software issue, or if it is it's unlike any i have found in the weeks i've been searching the net for a solution. Here's why....
When i connect the phone to Windows 7 and 8 ( on 3 different computers) No hardware is detected, nothing in the Device Manager, no yellow question marks indicating 'Unknown Hardware'. Nothing, all it does is start trickle charging.
Now even with no ADB, or any driver at all installed, the computer should still detect the phone. Mine does not.
The same thing happens using OSX and Linux Mint 16 (again multiple computers) No devices or mounted or volumes shown at all. Linux terminal command "$ lsusb" does not list my hardware.
This is why i'm pretty much convinced that there is something wrong with the USB port on the phone. Because, if Linux can't see it then surely it's a hardware problem right?
The only other thing i can think of is, i have messed up the phones firmware while trying to unroot it? but only because the timing of all this is just too uncanny.
I think i'll have to suck it up and admit defeat here. Funny thing is the phone works perfectly and charges fine.
Stuck on 4.2 , with no ADB functionality. Perhaps i'll sell it cheap to someone who doesn't care.
Cheers for the reply mate.
Same problem here!
Only my G2 is not rooted, it is still on factory OS and recently updated to 4.4.2.
I have tried on several computers, different ports and no help.
On the first connection to a PC not connected before windows reports "USB device not recognized" problem.
After that every time I connect the phone to the same computer the phone itself only recognizes that it is using USB charging mode, it does not recognize the computer connection (known by the USB ison on android system tray) even with "Ask upon connection option checked".
Even when I manualy change the Android mode in Settings --> PC Connection from MTP to PTP or even LG software, nothing happens.
Definetly there seems to be a problem with the phone, but I don't beleive it's a software but a firmware problem.
Please help if anyone knows what to do.
same thing happened after installing T-mobile rom thrugh twrp. but my device boots into fastboot and i tryed falshing :
laf.img, boot.img, aboot.img, recovery.img, laf.img
but after reboot my LS980 dissapear from device manager and stucked on LG logo.
Dont know what to do now.
I'm no expert, but given there are a lot of them here and none have weighed in on this with any ideas for a fix, i'm going to assume it's a hardware problem.
Anyone else agree? Hardware problem not software?
Cheers
I guess that you already wiped everything right? Apart from that, i'll suggest you to go to some tech supp and ask them if they can verify that each pin of the micro usb is properly working.
Sorry for my english, hope it helps!

I will try to check the connector although i dont think that it is a hardware issue.
BTW I can enter the download mode after flashing the mentioned partitions and i can also enter the stock LG recovery but when i do the factory reset it keeps showing Factory reset processing ... for ever
It has happened to me the same thing :crying:, and is a problem with the boot.img, if by chance your G2 version 4.4.2 and the the 4.2.2 boot.img, goodbye.
The only solution is to take it to repair a service official, there will change you the card, with the consequent change of IMEI.quent change of IMEI.

I have some kinds of that problem, let try:
Settings -> General -> PC Connection -> Select USB connection method -> Media device (MTP) (or whatever)
Got this same issue after flashing cloudy g3 rom. Then later flashing dirty unicorns, which requires jelly bean baseband. But even restoring g3 and 24a baseband, still doesn't work. No pc tethering and no on the go usb. My usb port is basically charge only.

I have a LG G2 . recently updated from vs98027a to vs98039a 5.0 lollipop. Since the update my computer won't recognize my device in download mode and I don't have superuser ppermissions. Help plz
I also have the same problem.
It happened when I tried to backup info through LG PC Suite: the phone disconnected during the process, and now it's not recognized by any PC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/lg-g2-recognized-windows-backup-t3155323).
Also found a description of the same problem here: https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg2/comments/2urpnw/lg_g2_usb_only_charging_not_recognized_by_pc/ - no solutions, too.
Did anyone manage to fix this?

LG G2 bricked, can't fix

Hi all,
I've broken my LG G2. I made an edit to build.prop and the phone stopped working. It will display the LG logo but then the screen goes black and the LED slowly flashes green/blue. I was running stock Rogers firmware, rooted, with a stock recovery.
I've performed a factory reset. Didn't fix anything.
I have tried to connect via ADB and fastboot but the phone isn't listed as a device.
I've tried using the LG Update program. The phone connects and is recognized but fails when reaching 4%.
I've used the LG Flash Tool 2014 but that fails at 2%.
When the phone is plugged into my computers, device manager shows it as: LGE AndroidNET USB Port (Com3) and LGE AndroidNET USB Modem. There is nothing else listed. I've tried installing all the recommended drivers; there is no change.
I have no idea what to do next. I'm hoping someone here can help.

Have you tried this driver? http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/universal-adb-driver As the page states, even when the manufacture offer their own drivers, ADB still won't recognize your phone as a device, sometimes. I had a similar experience and after installing this particular driver from Koush it recognized it. Hope it helps.

Firmware update failed, can't boot and can't connect to pc.

I was trying to get my lg g2 d805 back to kitkat and the firmware update froze. It said it had failed and I unplugged. Now i can't turn the phone on and when I plug it to the computer it opens multiple drives that say i have to format before i use.
What do I do?
Maybe this helps.
If it doesn't work try one of the other guides. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63327417&postcount=4
