Hi guys, sorry if this is a super silly question but I haven't been in the rooting game since 2007 and lost touch with a lot of things.
I have a note 4 SM-N910H with base version N910HXXU1DPC1.
Trying to downgrade because of all the issues with 6.1. Don't mind if it's official or custom rom (provided it's a super stable release). Thing is, I can't find a rom with the same base version number.
Question is, does it matter or can I just go by the model number alone?
If someone could point me to the correct links I'd very much appreciate it.
Thanks

XDA Stellar on O2, HTC Touch and a Mio PDA to run apps that it wasn't supposed to run.
Android launch is not when people started the rooting game.

More info please. What kernel, what ROM, what root did you use? I'm nice, but some people on this forum would eat you alive for leaving a post like this.
I'm sorry amigo - I know very little about phones - new to this world. I'm pretty good with computers though. I learn fast.
It's Kernel version 2.6.29
build number SPH-D700 ECLAIR.DI18.
Firmware: 2.1-update1
I used one.click.root.exploitv2.2.4 to root the phone. I haven't installed any other ROMS (Is there a place on the phone or within Rom Manager where it displays which exact ROM I am running?).

You're already on DI18, no need to update.
The build number shows you the ROM you're running
Ah great. Thank you.
Holla guys I've recently have an s3.. wonderful device, seriously, but I'm very regretful as regards the SDS issue.. unfortunately my device seems to have the "affected chip" but I love Android world and I can't stay without modding something! the problem, as I have seen, seems to be solved until fws released from 4.1.2... To be more sure, I upgraded my phone to 4.3 stock yesterday and now the fw mounted is the XXUGMK6. My phone is NOT rooted and it is branded Vodafone. In this situation the device should be "covered" (hopefully, this damned issue it's a very bad thing )... however, as I said upon, I want to install something new to speed up this wonderful device.
So let's go straight to the point: what are the bootloader, recovery and rom that have the fws fixed for SDS? What are the best ones IN THIS SENSE? (not in absolutely sense, obviously, because each bl, rec & rom is simply best until it's cooked in my opinion )
Moreover, should I remove brand before installing something? Could you tell me precise steps to do kindly?
I'll be very grateful to everyone can answer my question, really
Ops, I just realized that I didn't write in right section. I'm really sorry. If is it possible may it shift to Q&A topics?
My excuse mods!
-----EDIT-----
I provide soon myself to post in the right place... this one can be closed or deleted sorry for my mistake!!!

Are you wanting to root it or just upgrade the firmware? Have you ever used Odin?
Try connecting to kies if you just want to upgrade firmware.

I:silly:'ve only done that stuff on my old iPhone, but when i switched to android it was like coming from north korea to china. Its just so much freedom I've never experienced before and i'm super happy i'm here( china i guess) but i couldn't imagine what america freedom feels like...and i'm guessing having it rooted and flashing custom Kernel would be like coming to america. I doubt ill ever get around to using those things to there full potential, so i guess ill just upgrade the firmware... unless you have movies or stories of the freedom im missing i doubt ill venture out to go find it. thank you for your info and looking forward to your reply

No custom kernel for us. We have a locked bootloader. We do have custom Roms. I would root but that is just me. I dislike all the bloatware if nothing else. You don't have to use your phone any differently but you never know when you will come across a great app or something and it requires root.
You are on the right firmware for root. Install towelroot, make it rain, download SuperSU from the playstore, install and update the binaries (it will ask you to) choose the normal method. Reboot your phone and you are rooted. I would go a step further and download busybox from the play store, install the app then install busybox, then install safestrap which is our custom recovery.
You can still just run a stock ROM if you wish but you now have the ability to change your phone to a certain degree. At least get rid of some bloatware. Otherwise, I'd try kies first and see if it will update your phone.

I'm looking to buy a note 4 now that custom roms and perm root has been achieved. I already know to make sure the android version is no more then 5.1.1, but one thing was throwing me off in reading up on this.
Some guides mention to "make sure the CID starts with 15". Others don't. I may be entirely wrong here, because I don't know what CID stands for, or what it is, but I'm getting the impression that CID 15 is a software number for the developers model of the phone. I've also read it's possible to convert the note 4 into thinking it is a developers model of the phone. So that would mean I don't need to worry about buying a model that's already CID 15, because it will be taken care of later. Is this correct?
My questions are....
How do I prevent my phone from starting up, and immediately downloading 6.0 or 6.1 or whatever the latest update is, before I root? How do I block those updates without root?
Whats the best newb friendly guide on this forum for going from day 1 bought, to custom roms and perm root? Basically an "everything at once" guide. Assuming I don't even have the phone yet, don't have temp root, haven't changed the CID yet, ect ect ect. I want to start reading these guides so I can get myself familiar with the process.
I read either here or on reddit that kingroot puts spyware on the phone. Is this true?
Anyone know a good place to buy the note 4? I'd be looking for the verizon version.
Anything I should know that I don't even know to ask about? My last (current) phone is on it's dieing legs. It's an HTC thunderbolt from 2011. I was running android 2.2. Yes, I know. It's old. I haven't experienced a post 2.2 android OS, so this is going to be basically 5 years worth of "HOLY **** LOOK WHAT THEY ADDED!!!" moment for me.
What are the differences between different model numbers. I keep seeing (SM-N910V) in the videos I've been watching, but I have no context as to if that's good, or bad, or what it means.
Will this fast charging thing work with ROMS?
I recently decided to completely start fresh with my rooted Note 4 (I have a N910H - Exynos). I factory reset, wiped, then downloaded the latest firmware from Sammobile. I thought I just go completely stock.
After flashing through ODIN I was on MM 6.0.1, stock.
Then I wanted to root. It was easy, so I don't think to have to worry about updates or anything, it is easy to root, whatever version (AFAIK for the Exynos versions)

someone else had posted something similar also for the T280 in the development thread (one of those either by jedid or ashyx). It turned out be a 5.0.1 (for some reason was incorrectly listed as 6.0.1) Not sure if this is the real thing or the same incorrect listing

I got a bug fix and security patch (Jan '17) update a few days ago, still lollipop though. I doubt we'll get marshmallow, we would've got it by now if they were going to give it to us, I don't mind too much because it pretty much caters for my needs as it is. Don't pin your hopes on a custom ROM either, this doesn't seem like much of a popular device, at least the model running a spreadtrum processor anyway.
