I recently bought Nokia 6 TA 1033 and I've tried using one OTG cable but my phone didn't respond to it when I plugged in the USB pen drive. I'm wondering if this particular build has no OTG support or was it just a faulty cable?

Not sure about the 1033 but my 1021 works fine with OTG on both Nougat and Oreo. I doubt it's an issue with the phone or software. Try using the OTG with a different phone to confirm.
I'm happy owner of TA-1033 and I can confirm that it supports OTG. It even shows both internal and external memory of my Garmin GPS. I also tried mouse, normal flash drives and 2,5 HDD.
TA-1033 pie update otg is working for me

hi, is it possible to read usb like this on nexus 4 with lollipop?
http://www.conrad.it/medias/global/ce/3000_3999/3400/3450/3453/752527_LB_00_FB.EPS_1000.jpg
Unfortunately no, USB OTG is possible with certain custom kernels, however external power must be supplied to the USB device as no power can be transferred through the nexus 4's USB port to the USB unit.
You need the following-
1. A OTG cable with external power supply
2. A custom kernel that supports OTG (Unleashed kernel does)
3. Chainfires USB stick mount app.
Hi
I am trying to use flash drive on nexus 4 I have the otg y cable and it is providing power to both flash drive and phone but the flash drive is not mounting and doesn't show anywhere on phone . And chain fire always gives this error whether flash drive is connected or not .
Any help ?
Do you have a compatible kernel?

Yes I have flashed unleashed kernel.
Have you tried freshly formatting the drive?

Yes I did formatted it couple of times and it is working fine on my laptop.
I am ordering a new otg y cable maybe the problem is with the cable.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
You need to active OTG from an app like Synapse, I've manage to connect to a USB key but I've some issues with the HDD

Hello,
I'm on OPT A2003 on oxygenOS 2.1, i bought an otg cable.
I put on otg in parameters and my cable (with a usb key) stay undetected.
I tried on stock rom, root rom with stock kernel and with Ak kernel.
I already tried Stickmount Apps to test and nothing.
Someone has otg work?
Could you help me?
The same. Cable and adaptator are from Aukey
1 sur AUKEY® Adaptateur USB C vers Micro B femelle 2.0 Connecteur USB 2.0 Type-C mâle vers Micro B femelle pour Apple Le nouveau MacBook, Google Le nouveau [ASIN : B00W6TQWUA]
1 sur AUKEY® Câble USB C vers Micro USB femelle, Câble USB 2.0 Type-C vers Micro USB femelle pour Apple Le nouveau MacBook, Google Le nouveau Chromebook Pix [ASIN : B00W6VLI98]
I wrote to seller and the answer was that the product is not compatible
i am on OxygenOS 2.1.0 and although the usb stick i connected to my OP2 does work...it does not show in settings/storage, my device is rooted and i have 'es file explorer installed' with root access enabled and root explorer/show hidden files enabled in settings/tools within the app
this app see's the storage ok and registers that it is there...i ordered and use the 'usb'C - micro usb' adaptor from oneplus and an OTG cable that came with my sixaxis controller gamepad holder...it's a very odd system they seem to have adopted for the OP2...and i do not like it at all...without a file explorer this storage seems inaccessible by the system...yes you have to go into settings/storage and enable OTG storage for it to work, but the least they could have done was actually show this storage in the settings/storage part of our devices
i was able to move a photo as a tester and it moved to the usb stick ok using the file explorer i will do more test's to see if we can directly add files like photo's after taking then with the camera...but unfortunately even our camra app seems to have limited settings like storage location
No other news?

Hi, I am using The OPT with their original adapter and the OPO otg cable and it recognizes my jump-drive but it will not show in settings-storage, but you must check the otg option at the end of the storage in settings. if somebody knows how to eject it properly please let mi know because I can`t find the option for this. thank you.
For me it only works in combination with the official OP Type-C to micro usb connector. No need for stickmount as the storage gets detected by my filebrowser instantly (ES FileExplorer).
And ofcourse, you need to enable OTG in storage settings.
Also would like to know how to eject removable storage, because now I get an error message when unplugging.
Is there any way of enabling usb otg on generic usb type c (male) to type a (female) adapters? Afaik.. Onlt the original oneplus usb to micro usb works for usb otg support.. Any kernel that can help with this?
I've bought USB-c to otg adapter and I am unable to use my pendrive. At least from the second post I know from what brand they were stealing technology. I will try to report this issue somehow

And this ISN'T USB-c... This is pseudo-USB and should be claimed in the description. Pfu!
Can anyone confirm that OTG works with TWRP? As in I can install from OTG flash drives like the Kingston MicroDuo 3C or SanDisk OTG Dual USB 3.0 all while still remaining encrypted?
No Idea about encrypted since I have unencrypted since I got my device. I can say that TWRP works with OTG. I have not backed up to the device yet. I always flash and back up to OTG. I have also succesfully restored from it as well. I use a USB Type C OTG cable and 128gb USB flash drive.

Odd. I can't backup or restore anything for my OTG. My OTG USB has a mini usb, so I use the USB Type-C to USB standard-A adapter from Google.
It always shows on TWRP that my OTG has like 175 MB or something extremely small. never shows the files I have. I have reason to believe that the OTG being detected isn't my OTG at all. This is because it showed an OTG with 175 mb even when I never had it plugged in.
Thoughts?

Make sure you format FAT32 or will not be recognized.

Most likely your drive has a small FAT32 partition that you did not realize and the rest is not FAT32.
Encrypted or not at this point is moot.
With no microSD, unless I tell you, you won't know.
You can backup, restore, copy to/from using the computer utility.
OTG works encrypted or not.
Hello everyone, i hope i'm in the right section of the forum.
I'm trying to load a Toshiba Canvio Basic via otg with my zenfone2 laser, but it won't start. Can you see the white led and ear the hd start but nothing happend on the phone.
Instead an old Samsung S2 plus, works perfecty (a little slowly), any one knows how and why?
Is there some limitation by lollipop?
ps : the Zenfone2 is stock, the only mod that i've do is the root, same thing on the S2 Plus
Lollipop cant read ntfs partition. Also you should use some externally powered USB hub if you are going to use external HDD.
