Hello, I'm a fresh member of this forum and recently upgraded my Galaxy Samsung S4 (i9505) from stock to AOSP Oreo. After the upgrade everything worked more or less as expected, the ROM is stable enough for daily use.
Unfortunately the S-view is not working like expected, if I open the (original) Samsung s-view cover the screen lights up and if I close the cover the screen goes off, but there is no clock in the display as before. Also with an incoming phone call the screen doesn't show up, or I can pick up the call by wiping over the cover window.
I installed the files below:
Unofficial TWRP recovery.img
JDCTeam-8.1.0-20171209-BETA.zip
open_gapps-arm-8.1-nano-20180119-UNOFFICIAL.zip
Kernel-B--B-PWR-CORE-AOSP-O-v3.2.zip
SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip
Also, I tried the 'S View Lite' app from play store. After closing the cover the screen is shown for a few milliseconds, but no sulution there. I also repeated the installation a few times (thanks for the nice youtube video's) to be sure I made no mistakes.
Because I miss the S-view functionality like it worked before, I post this question on the Q&A (my question on jdcteam-android-source-project-oreo-t3685231 did not get much response). Maybe someone can help me to get it going, tell me if it's working on her/his dvice or tell me I have to live with it like it is ?
there is no lineageOS rom with the Sview.
the Sview is based only on TW rom, so nothing newer more than a 5.0.1 TW rom.
and all Sview apps don't work correctly.
If you want S View, go back to TouchWiz.
If it's ever going to work on AOSP ROMs, it only does to lock the screen instead.

Hi, since I updated to Kitkat, sometimes the S-View sceen gets unaligned.
Check it (in this video, I kept opening/closing the cover to let see what is the bug):
S-View unaligned
Plus, other times it can flicker.
I'm stock, rooted and with apex laucher. But it happened also without root and with TW. It seems that could be caused when I'm using my S4 in landscape view (or there is some app in background that it's in landscape mode) and I close the cover, but it's not the rule. Plus, I'm quite sure it happens even in portrait view.
Is anybody else experiencing same issue? I googled but it looks it's only me :-/
Thank you
PS: I've wiped, reflashed, changed rom (DBT, now ITV)... but it's still here.
Same here .. everything goes over to the right of screen and cuts off some of the time and date
Any solutions for that?
bump for interest
Hi all,
I love the fact that, with S View cover and stock rom, I don't need to press any button to turn the display on or off. Just opening or closing the cover does the trick.
I know that S View doesn't work with CyanogenMod or any other non-TW rom. Could someone confirm whether, in CyanogenMod, at least the screen turns on and off when the cover is opened and closed?
Thanks in advance.
Flash temasek's kernel or unofficial cm11 by temasek. Screen on/off works fine using temasek's kernel..
I think this app might work with cm.

Slim Armor View case here. Closing the cover shuts down the screen 95% of the time.
Hello to anybody. I just installed the darklord rc 2.1 note 5 ported rom 5.1.1 and find it very smoothty but few annoying things lead me to unninstall it quickly due to the fact i just did not find fix.
1. most annoying is the dialer caller id picture. i can not allocate a picture at full size to be display half of screen like on Note 3 original 5.0 dial screen. also in contacts when switching picture from nothing to something there is no option to crop with some apps..you know like in Note 3 original lolipop. Why, in original Note 5 when dialling and receiving calls you can see only a small circle of the person you call/receive call? If it is so then note 5 is a mess
How can be fixed??
2. the battery drain relatively fast and the phone gets hot seems that the rom is not optimized on note 3 hardware specs.
Many thanks on finding or providing me some fix for incal ui.
You should go to the roms forum the developer is not on XDA ,
K many thanx.
Or try another ROM, as there is many ROMs outside there...
Hello, i really need help guys
I was on stock andriod 6.0 and wanted to upgrade to 7.0 but couldnt wait so i downloaded 7.0 firmware from sammobile.com and used odin and everything ran smoothly, but once everything was complete i found out that the Always on screen didnt work well ( the screen light is always on along with the always on clock) . Before i upgraded to 7.0 my always on screen used to be completely off except for the clock but now the entire screen is lid and it looks really ugly because it isnt deep black, plus the battery life is short now..
I tried different firmwares (both 6.0 and 7.1) and also many custom rooms to solve it..but it didnt work. Everything else works perfectly except the always on screen
Pleas help
Thanks

anyone ?
If you mean always on background is not dark as old version as and it's drain battery, there is no solution to reinstall it. This is so weird problem. Also, I couldn't understand what is the exact problem. You should capture the screen with external camera and post it here. Maybe that can help you more.
That is indeed a weird problem. First time i heard of this. It seems like a bug or smth. Did you do a factory reset etc each time you flashed a rom file?
I already faced the same issue in marshmallow. Service center has detected it as a screen problem and replaced it whether third party AODs (from playstore) worked flawlessly on faulty screen.
I have the same problem after nougat too, problem is my phone is from singapore and I'm here in India. Such a premium phone, no internaitonal coverage for manufacturing defect -__-
Got exactly the same problem after using phone a bit more than 4 months. Stock firmware and never rooted, never dropped. Already tried a factory reset - did not help. So looks like a screen defect... Will bring it to the warranty.
(sorry if this has already been discussed before)
I like my second screen in AOD/standby mode to read the time, notifications, battery level ...
I recently received my second $110 lg v20 h910 from aliexpress and was ready to get to play with a lineageos based ROM (I find my stock based rom a little bloated) but I read ( https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comments/agefj5/lineage_151_second_screen_not_turning_off_when/ ) that there is a MASSIVE BATTERY DRAIN on ALL the NON STOCK roms with second screen support in AOD mode when the phone is in AOD MODE ...
Could somebody please tell me how bad this battery drain is on these ROMS (lineageos 15.1 and resurrection remix with second screen support) ??? Does this make these roms unusable ??
Also it seems like development has stopped on these roms ... is that the reason why ??
(I know that there is a lineageos 16 rom with notch support for the second screen but I understand that it doesn't support AOD mode for the second screen, right ??)
Thanks folks for your lights on this subject !
Its not bad enough to make it unusable, but for me it was enough to make me have to charge twice a day instead of once. The problem is that the LG V20 has an LCD, so the whole backlight needs to be lit to be readable.
From what I get, development has stopped because the Devs are putting in all they can into Pie based roms.
Pie based roms don't support AOD, once again because of the backlight. If I understand this phone correctly (Correct me if I'm wrong, happy to learn), the backlight is split into 2 pieces, one for the second screen, and one for the rest. LG Roms used just the second screen part.
I personally love the Pie roms, dont even miss the second screen. Yeah, it was useful, but not something that made a huge difference.

Thanks a lot for your answer ! :good::good:
Then I guess I am going to try LineageOS Pie on my test phone to see if it's worth it while staying on Nougat Alpha Omega on my daily driver (On Nougat Alpha Omega I like Zacharee "mod control" to tune the battery size in the second screen, etc ... and I am not sure if this "mod control" app is working on Oreo Stock based roms ...)
