Always-on screen problem. Please help - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello, i really need help guys
I was on stock andriod 6.0 and wanted to upgrade to 7.0 but couldnt wait so i downloaded 7.0 firmware from sammobile.com and used odin and everything ran smoothly, but once everything was complete i found out that the Always on screen didnt work well ( the screen light is always on along with the always on clock) . Before i upgraded to 7.0 my always on screen used to be completely off except for the clock but now the entire screen is lid and it looks really ugly because it isnt deep black, plus the battery life is short now..
I tried different firmwares (both 6.0 and 7.1) and also many custom rooms to solve it..but it didnt work. Everything else works perfectly except the always on screen
Pleas help
Thanks

anyone ?

If you mean always on background is not dark as old version as and it's drain battery, there is no solution to reinstall it. This is so weird problem. Also, I couldn't understand what is the exact problem. You should capture the screen with external camera and post it here. Maybe that can help you more.

That is indeed a weird problem. First time i heard of this. It seems like a bug or smth. Did you do a factory reset etc each time you flashed a rom file?

I already faced the same issue in marshmallow. Service center has detected it as a screen problem and replaced it whether third party AODs (from playstore) worked flawlessly on faulty screen.

I have the same problem after nougat too, problem is my phone is from singapore and I'm here in India. Such a premium phone, no internaitonal coverage for manufacturing defect -__-

Got exactly the same problem after using phone a bit more than 4 months. Stock firmware and never rooted, never dropped. Already tried a factory reset - did not help. So looks like a screen defect... Will bring it to the warranty.

[VIDEO] Weird graphical glitch on Galaxy i9001 when in Download Mode...

Anyone else ever seen this happen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgyQMmEcaLQ
Was flashing my phone and when I entered download mode I got this..
Tried a reset and such (before flashing) and it seems that it happens regardless of turning the phone on or off..
Could it be bad for my phone? Anyone know what could be causing it?
Thanks.
I'm having the same problem.
I tried to flash even the logo is different and it worked flawlessly
Do you have the same phone? The Galaxy S 1 (Plus) ? Do you also get the blue and red dots?
Minor update, my Wife's SGS+ (this phone) also experienced some crazy shakiness. Much like that of an old television with a bad tv signal.
Sent it back to get a replacement. No idea what the cause of this is. On top of that her phone was much slower than one should pay for 350€..
I hope no one else has had problems with this. I also updated the video with the new problem.
Crazy Glitch, I must check my buddy's Phone

[Q] Sensors no longer functioning

Hey guys,
This is my first Samsung after multiple HTCs, so this has really annoyed me... I preordered from Orange back in April, so I've had it since release. Everything was fine, though the battery life was far from perfect.
In the last week, maybe two, I noticed that the screen wasn't turning properly. Then it was stuck on the right side, whenever I turned on Screen Rotation. After 4 restarts, it just does nothing. I tried wiping and starting again, but to no avail...
I've also been into the *#0*# menu and under Sensors, the Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Magnetic selftests all fail. I thankfully don't play any games that require them, but taking photos is stuck to landscape and I can't view them in landscape on my phone...
Any theories?
same problem here mate!
Rooted, installed CWM recovery, fooled around with some Google Edition Roms and now I`m on the same problem.
Out of the blue, the sensor stoped working!
Flashed my original ROM with Odin and that didn`t work.
And background of the recovery (now original) the android has a red triangle and he is lying flat.
Everything else is working...
Someone plz help!
I'm sorry about how this sounds, but I'm glad it's not just me!
I didn't try rooting yet, so it's not related to that. I'm going to call Samsung (no web support...) Tomorrow if I get a chance.
Had yours overheated a few times beforehand? I'm wondering if the sensors are ruined by the heat...
Not sure if it is the heat...
My GS3 was always hot when using! And everything was fine for more than a year.
Your light sensor is working?
Mine is not working either.
To be more precise:
Accelerometer, Proximity, Barometer, Light, Gyroscope, Magnetic, Gesture and Temp-Humid
all of the Sensors of the *#0*# test
=/
Nope, light sensor doesn't recognise when I'm in a call and put it to my ear, or remove it... It senses nothing.
Today I unstalled the 3D Image live wallpaper app (since it uses the Gyroscope) and restarted the the phone, every sensor was up and running again.
So I installed the 3D Image live wallpaper again and after a while the sensors stopped again.
So I unstalled again and rebooted the phone again and... Nothing! This seens to be completly random.
Do you use any Gyroscope 'intensive' app?
I factory reset my handset and nothing, so it's not an app or wallpaper I'm using. After the restore I used the Internet Browser to check the screen rotation, nothing.
I've a similar problem here... the sensors sometimes doesn't work, sometimes does work, it's random. Already tried to restore factory defaults and many different FWs, always with this same behavior....
My S4 has only 3 weeks, and it came like this, but I took some time to identify the problem...
I have the same problem, I tried factory reset several times, changed the FW for all available versions and the problem continues. In my case the only difference is that the sensors operate for a maximum of 30minutes after I reboot the phone and then stop again.
Has anything else happened like getting water near the phone in order for sensors to not work..
Or the phobe fell down?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
Can the problem due to the installation of a third-party launcher like Nova or Apex? When using these launcher, none of the sensors work. When back to the default TW launcher, some work while others not working.
Is this a bug?

I used stock Touchwiz. My sensors suddenly stopped working. I did a hard reset and problem still existed. Today I will get my phone from repair and post some more info.
Using the *#0*# test mode, all functions are working. However, some of the sensors are working like hit-and-run state. Wondering should I bring it down to the service center.
Got my SGS4 today and flashed it to GE ROM. Everything woks fine, but I tried taking a picture with Photosphere and it kept on drifting off.
I guess that means I have a similar problem. Will test Service menu later today...
OK, Service Menu does not work on GE edition ROM...but I found a little app called Sensor Test for free on the PlayStore and it shows all sensors working fine with the exception of the accelerometer...that gives nonsense values...
It does sound like a fault with hardware not software or anything you have done so you should be able to walk into the orange store or [insert carrier retail store here] and they should replace it as long as your under contract at least thats how it works here in the uk with the sales of goods act
Okay. Strange things. I only habe severe problems in Photosphere. Flashed a different ROM and service menu dass all OK.
GPS toolbox looks OK with the compass ticking slightly to the right, then jerking back. Needs More research...
Update: I flashed back to a 4.2.2 ROM (also Google Edition) and now my problem seems to be gone...
Are you all on 4.3 or do some of you use 4.2 ROMs?
Update2: Turned out to be coinsidence...drifting started in 4.2.2 as well. I then tried my trust old Galaxy Nexus and saw that it also drifts now. I'm completely confused...
Got my S4 back from repair center. They replaced the main board and now everything appears to be working ok.

Got mine back, too (Germany, datrepair.de). Don't know what they changed, but it's still not functioning. So disappointed...
Hey i just had the same issue, suddenly (nothing happened, i was playing some game, not even with heavy graphics or anything) and when i was back to my home screen i noticed the auto rotation doesn't work, after i tried rebooting and taking out the battery i re-flashed my omega rom and still, nothing.
In the sensors test they all fail.
Is there anything else other than sending it to repair?
I mean did anyone succeeded in repairing that issue with some simple means?
Thanks!
i had the exact same problem
i claimed warranty, still waiting

Motherboard problems/Lollipop only

Hello guys,
I'm currently having issues with my phone since I've dropped it in a pond outside, and I guess it's the motherboard that is affected.
I cannot charge my phone (I use a desk changer + another battery), the flash is working only for half a second while taking pictures so I need to manually set the ISO, but those problems are not so important.
The reason I write here is because everytime I flash an official or any other touchwiz based LOLLIPOP OS, the phone is getting through a "plug/unplug". I don't know how to explain, it simply says that it's charging, then after a few seconds it says it's not charging, and so on, WITHOUT having it plugged.
Is there any way to simply delete these instructions from the OS? The phone is working flawlessly otherwise.
These things only happen when using official or touchwiz based LP, the KK ones are working as they should, and it's a bit weird because only with LP I have these problems. Also, if I flash some CM based OS, it's working flawlessly.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Unresponsive touch when phone runs. After lock screen and unlock it its all ok.

Hello there. Im new to this forum. Im using a A3 2016 galaxy model. I was running 6.0.1. I decided to update to 7.0 via Odin because this update hasnt released in my country. It was all good. The keyboard was fast and responsive. After a minute was unresponisve. i mean i was typing sthng fast and in the end only the half word was done! i googled this and found a lot of threads about this in nougat . After that i saw unresponsive pitch zoom in gallery. But when i lock and unlocked the screen zoom and keyboard lag was gone. i think its general unresponsive(not only in keyboard and zoom). I decide to downgrade back to 6.0.1 . Faster than nougat of course. But all of the sudden the probem was still there!!! Now im writing to help me out guys. I have some thinks in my mind:
1.Is Odin s fault?
2.I moved on to my village that temp is 40 celsius. Is the temp ?or the temperd glass became unresponsive cause of that hot weather? So its tempered glass fault ?
3. Is a hardware s problem? (i dont think so because all was good before *as i remember* )
Its just a temporary issue and will go away by the time ?
Note ! I wiped the cache and data 3 times at least!!!
Sorry for my bad English .

Same situation I thought is the fault of hardware not enought performant on some situation, the ram isn't suffisant to use two application on the same time, I find that nougat is more laggy than marshmallow but when nougat lag the phone freeze and with marshmallow it was more time to response probably du by too much information waiting ... Can you say me when you get thoses issues to may or may not confirm my theory
The stock keyboard is also very laggy on my A310f using any Samsung based Nougat ROM.
I generally use the standalone Touchtype Swiftkey, which is just head and shoulders above any other KB I've found, and which you can make almost identical(but better) via theming, if you really must have the look of the S-Keyboard. I'm also so used to the Swiftkey symbol/key layout and find it much faster and intuitive to type with in general.
I haven't found any other lag issues with Nougat on Samsung ROMs, other than keyboard input.

TouchScreen Calibration

Hi guys something has happened to the touch at the top of the screen its about an inch off too high. I tried flashing and wiping even went back down to lolipop but nothing is working.
How exactly does the touch key study work ? Like if its off how does one recalibrate it ? Its almost like the top menu bar has been disabled somehow...
Its a MTCD-Sofia MCU-HXD2.15 currently on 5.1.1
Cheers
Same problem here, did you find a solution?
I'm having a similar problem on lots of different vehicle where the touchscreen calibration is off while in maps and Waze. It worked as recently as 3 weeks ago and I've tried rolling back Android auto versions and no difference.
I've read on other forums that reducing the screen resolution on your phone will fix the issue, hopefully an update will provide a full fix at some point.
