Can anyone of you test the following:
When you are calling with someone, and your calling volume is on the maximum (so the volume of the speaker that you hold against your ear). Can anyone notice a little crack from the speaker when the other person talks a bit loud or make's a loud noise? I'm wondering if there is something wrong with mine. With several tones the ear speaker cracks a little bit, like the sound is to loud or something.
Is it defective ?
I had this problem with the HD2, so I am not really surprised to hear that N1 also has it (I don't have N1). If you ask me, HTC bought crappy parts from its suppliers for the last generation of phones (HD2, N1) ...
Check these from the HD2 forums:

wow...
So i guess i can return my phone then ?
i`ve also the same problem. on maxed out volume there is distortion. one step beyond max volume the distortion disappears. i`ve noticed it at first when i was calling someone on landline. hopefully there will be a software fix, but i`m afraid it`s poor speaker quality.

Yeah i think its poor speaker quality to . I'm not sure if i should return my phone tho.
It is only really noticable on max volume, and even then only on hard noises or hard voices. Thanks for your reply.

could anyone help me with this please
I'm not sure whether you could define it as 'defective' or not, but I think all Nexus 1 phones have this issue.
I could be argued that it's just not up to the job of course and you could maybe return it on that basis if you want, but I don't think this is a specific issue with your device.
Bad speaker vs good speaker
I have the same crappy speaker build on my N1.. a friend also bought a N1 and his is crystal clear, so its not STANDARD that you get the junk one.
my guess is they have speakers from one supplier that built from several parts suppliers, or several suppliers of the speakers itself.
HTC is China company.. I love the place, but they're know for quantity, not quality.
Mine is being swapped for a DOA exchange.. let's hope this one is better.
Cheers
Hello everyone. I have a problem with the sound of my iconia. The speakers croak when I see a video. It is an annoying noise. Is it normal or I have a defective model? The quality of built in speaker is terrible...
It must just be yours. Mine sound great! And the speakers were praised in nearly every review I've read.
On max volume the speaker seems to rattle a bit on my phone. Is this normal for it? It seems to only do it when the audio it's playing has low bass. I have a Dell Venue but I assume it has the same speaker as the DVP.
i noticed it in my copy as well back in december ago. i returned the dvp and got another one no questions asked.
anyone got any variant of the h990 experiencing crackling distortion noise while on YouTube or playing some music from the external speakers ?
i have the h990ds and its only few days old
and started to experience this issue
should i return it and get a replacement ?
I had this issue and had to send my unit back to T-Mobile. I got a replacement and the issue wasn't there. I suspect that they had a couple of bad units ship out to customers.

i think thats what im going to end up doing
the noise only starts to get worse when the battery is bellow 40%
There's a thread here somewhere for this. I don't have good signal right now so I can't search it for you but it has something about speaker distortion in the title.
I'm confused - I keep reading Yotaphone 2 sound quality is good but since day one I've been getting really bad buzzing sound from the loud speaker of the phone? It seams to buzz mostly on the lower frequencies.
Does anyone one else have the same problem or I got a defective unit from gearbest.com?
