Honor 8 oreo discussion thread - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Use this thread to talk to about what you think about honor not giving us Oreo and saying that the honor 8 doesn't pass software and Hardware specifications for Oreo. Also talk about whatever u want.

BS

Nonsense. Honor... Never again. You made Samsung look more client friendly. F u.

Bro straight up it's b******* the fact that they said software-related in their official statement is b******* you can always tweak the software, they are so full of s***.

Clearly it is not software-related because the open Kirin team brought us Oreo. Of course there are bugs in there Rom but that's only cus there not the actual company that is supposed to be supplying us updates like wtf if they can bring us Oreo you know damn well that honor can give us Oreo

such a shame but what do u expect from a company like this

Yah that is true, the sad part is I have never heard of them before and bought this phone because I saw the good reviews and the partnership now I know never to buy one again

I will never buy another Huawei phone, and their reasons for not updating are not the specs. I am sure since it is probably one of their most popular phones, adding in all the US buyers, Huawei wants us off this phone so we will buy one of their other phones. Sorry, I am not into Phablets, and now that I see most of these chinese (and some American) phone companies are not updating their phones, or taking their sweet time, I will have to spend more money and buy a Sony/Samsung/Google phone.

Yeah, me too. Rumors have it we may see three Pixel 3 phones this year, one being like the old affordable and smaller Nexus phones they use to produce. I guess I will have to wait it out and see.

Well is not a good example for a good update policy either. My gf just got NOUGAT a few weeks back. I mean they actually provide their flagships with two major updates, but they are extremely slow and their software is just slow. I would describe sony as average, I mean they are not fast but faster than most other companies. I think next time Id go with a phone from google, even if they are really f expensive. But even the Nexus 5, a phone I bought in 2013 and sold then, has a ****ton of 8.0/8.1 Custom Roms.

That's what I'm saying I think everyone should just go with Google Now and hopefully they start selling cheaper phones. Because who in their right mind would want to drop 1K on a phone

Well Apple users Jk, the phones Google sells are actually good, just not for a price like that. I mean the price isnt even dropping otherwise I would have already bought one. They really have to improve their price policy.

Sony is not bad at updating, and yes they take their time, but I went through many updates and upgrades on my Sony Z3 Compact, so they back their devices and support them...unlike Huawei. I loved that Sony phone. I was considering the Sony XZ1 Compact, but they disabled the fingerprint reader in the US (yes, I know you can flash a euro rom) but I am going to hold out a little longer and see what Google produces.

And the worst part is about Apple users, have you seen all the **** apple has done, slowing down there older phones without telling anyone and all this other stuff. My gf has the iPhone X and it's cool and all but with all the bugs that have been coming with apple, that's a hard pass. And yah Google makes really good phones but the price point that they're selling them at right now it's just not worth it.

LOL...seriously. I had an iPhone 6S before the Honor 8. I was holding out to see what the iPhone 8 and X would deliver, but when they announced basically just upgrades to their camera and that horrible black bar (reminds me of the bar on the Moto Smartwatch) edge screen on their X ...and then dem prices. I was like, now you are just raping your customers. That is when I switched to the Honor 8 ....because it is very iPhone like, and cheap.

Close, but Sony has their own UI, at least back then on the Z3 Compact. I am not sure about the latest model. I think I read somewhere (foggy memory) that now it is close to stock.

[Q] Who thinks that HTC is about to repeat the success of the Galaxy S2?

I have a strong feeling that this is totally their Galaxy S2 moment.
This will be the point where they will finally be noticed.
HTC will keep releasing success after success.
This also includes the possibility of a real Phablet coming Q3 2013 (HTC Note?) instead of HTC One+
Then next year will be the year where they will seal the deal.
Samsung will burn to the ground.
And HTC will rise once again like the times of HD2.
if the phone ever get released in the states
Certainly the ONE should break out for HTC ... but lets face it, in the real (99% of buyers) world it will be smothered in a mountain of marketing foam by Samsung and Apple, and HTC will have to be happy picking up the pieces left over from the war of the big guys.
BUT .. their corporate performance WILL improve and they will be back in the running, but as the top dog in the rest of the pack.
This is HTC's window of opportunity as I can't see Samsung making the same mistake again especially if Samsung sell less then last year which I think they will.
Htc need to take a risk if the opportunity presents itself which it has. React HTC aggressively sell their own product, market it, advertise it properly and it's possible.
S2 moment! Not really. For majority of people out there the no SD card and non-removable battery is still an issue. If One had those then yes they could have nailed it.
HTC should now come out with a 4 or 4.3" version of One (similar premium build and features), maybe 720p SLCD3 screen, with a massive (2800mAH or bigger) battery and a SD card option for a very very good price (below S3). Then only it can see itself coming back to reckoning. They need that big battery in a device pretty badly coz as of now they have that tag of making phones with poor battery life. And its all about perceptions (at least for majority of people).
+1
for the "if ever released" comment
its already rolling for some customers in the UK
and HTC has said USA is their priority market
its us in the rest of the world who will have to wait
jsut a reminder:
Samsung Galaxy S 4 gets April 26th UK release date, preorders start March 28th
I doubt it, HTC don't have the marketing of Samsung or Apple to sell 90 million+ units.

I don't think no SD card and removable battery are an issue for most people at all, only some. 4 people I know really well have an SGS3, none of them have a second battery or bother with the SD card. In fact, I think two of them don't even know about these 'features'.

lol, sure why not.
most people couldn't care less about sd card and definitely most people don't care about non-removable battery.
the only people that do care are phone nerds like yourself.
End of.
The sdcard argument is so played out. 32 and 64 gb storage isn't enough?
The removable battery argument I get but the new qualcomm processors allow charging to be very fast

your friends/associates/loved ones' reaction to seeing your new edge

we all know the edge is a head turner with its unique design and this being a limited edition device not many people would have owned it by now. So what did the people close to you or even random strangers in the streets say when they saw your new phone?
post the amusing comments you've heard!
Someone: Is that iPhone 7?
I: No iPhone 10 S
Bring it on.....
A few of my work colleagues commented " Samsung are unbelievable" others asked if it was Note 4...most people around me don't even know that a device called Galaxy Note Edge exists.

I read a ton of reviews and all were saying how incredibly expensive the Note Edge was even on contract. Yet no one even blinks an eye at the price of the iPhone 6+ 64GB, and its the same price. I guess for the same reasons that no one blinks at the AppleWatches being $350 for the cheap one (I think the other 2 are supposed to be something like $1k and $5k?), but people talk about how expensive a $200 AndroidWear watch is. SMH.

Yeah, this also annoys me very much. The two phones are not even comparable, just look at the features/functionality the Note Edge has to offer compared to iPhone 6+... Seems like Apple just has to stick its logo on something and it could ask for any price which people would pay without questioning. Crazy!!

It's funny that you have to ask someone which iPhone they have because they all look the same lol.
But yea the note edge is light years above the iPhone 6 +. And for those saying it's a 64gb not 32. Well the edge has a sd port which wins. But yet people still fuss about it being a high price device. And it's only what $75 to $100 more then the note 4 and note 3 @ launch.

Well you gotta give Apple credit for their marketing genius and power, that's for sure. And Android phones aren't the only ones.
Microsoft bought the rights to get their Surface tablet as the official tablet of the NFL. You see signs that say Microsoft Surface all over the place, but the sportscasters and local sportscasters were calling them iPads on the air. And then apparently Microsoft tried to correct them and now they are calling them (as of a week or so ago) "iPad-like devices". SMH. And of course we know that Android having had GooglePay (or whatever it's called) ISIS, and Samsung even has their own version, and they gained no traction until Apple came along. Now Apple has a watch coming out next year that, as far as I can tell, looks like a bad design (it's no sleeker than the Samsung Gears, the Gear solo is more advanced, and the LG GwatchR and Moto360 both look WAY better, as does the Pebble), and is about twice the cost of the competition. Expect lots of hipsters to be wearing them by summer.
This is what happens when you are the real innovator in not only devices and design, but marketing as well (not including the watches). Now that Apple is, essentially, becoming a bit stagnant and stale (even the fanboys were saying a month or so ago "Apple has to do something new with the iPad. Sales are dropping and people seem to care less"), it's a good time for innovators to leap-frog them, but unfortunately I don't see that happening (yet). The Samsung Youn (sp?) glass demo of a year or two ago was really impressive. I could see Samsung in the next couple of years coming out with a device that is a tablet and folds into a phone and vice-versa. That would be a huge hit even though it will likely be pretty expensive.
And it is all fueled by a lot of consumer ignorance and trend following as well. Apple completely understands this and caters to it. When people ask me which to get (because I have had both) I tell them that they both can accomplish basically the same thing, so if they want simplicity and ease of use, go with the iPhone. If they want tweakbility and some more powerful features, and better/longer device and OS support, go with Android. Windows phones are surprisingly nice as well, but most people that get them, even though they are happy, have iPhone and Android envy and wonder what they might be missing.

My nice immediately started hounding me for my Note 4.. But she hated on me nonetheless for this device.
As time goes on and more application developers figure out how to make their apps "Edge Aware" and use that realestate, life will be golden!!
My co workers all ran and got the LG G3 last month. Thinking Samsung design wasn't going to change. Then when I showed them my Galaxy Edge. Everyone wanted to hold it and they were shocked. A few said they were going to get one.
Just yesterday a girl at the checkout ask if it was the galaxy mega.
I told her no no its the edge, then I till the phone on its and show her the edge. Her eyes lite up lol.

How do you think about Huawei and the promise for our Honor phones??

Hii to all Honor 8 owners
I am starting this topic couse every here and there I find in all of the threads
someone complain how the Huawei don't care and that they don't update
our phone in a good way or at least as promised.
So, the ones which are compain, they say like I paid the money for the phone
I want this or that and they are not satisfide with the phone couse it is an all around good
phone but you know, no xda support or something like it is a good value phone but
Huawei is bad and so on and so on.
Now I want this things to be discussed in this topic...
What do you think, will we get the android O update?
Why do you think Huawei is the one to be blamed?
Do you think they will not keep with the promise they gave to all Honor phones
and the 2 year software upgrade??
Are you dissapointed with this phone or just with Huawei??
Do you think you are not getting with this phone what you have paid for??
And lots of other stuff to be discussed in this topic and thread..
Now to give my opinion.
First I want to say I had a lot of smartphones
I was having from LG, Samsung, Sony and some other phones and now evan this Huawei
The first thing I notice is you guys complain in every xda thread the same and
not being real not for once for any phone
It goes like this
I will never again buy an Huawei or LG or Samsung or Sony or other phone like iPhone
I paid so much money but not getting the full software support, they just don't care about this phone
Then after like 7 days it goes like this is the worst phone I ever had.. do not buy that phone guys couse
it has an overheat issue when gaming..
It is not good for gaming at all
And so on and so on...
Well I must say that you guys always complain that you don't know how to buy your next phone
or you want it to be perfect for the money you paid.. so you are not real..
So lets be real just for once, how come evan an samsung s8+ owner after one or two weeks is
complaining about the phone?? And the usuall thing, I wont buy samsung no more!! LooOOooL
Dont you go and read about the phone what you are getting and what you will be paying for?
Dont you come over to xda to first ask for user experiance but after some time you come to
blaim some company for not giving updates like you DESIRE IT .. like every month.. regardless of
the REAL possibility to have such support??
I had so many phones wich not evan had what now the Honor 8 has.. I had phones wich had no
support not just from the manufacturer but also not on xda like couse my phone was in my region
with the bootloader locked with no possibility to unlock it ever!!
And I was stuck on what I get out of the box
So, long story short, why you guys always looking for the perfect one wich will have it all
like the best build the premium feel and the xda support and evan the support from the
manufacturer and then not getting it and come to blaim someone after like two weeks..
Can it just once be like.. I am satisfide with what I got??
My opinion you should be satisfide with the Honor 8
It has after like 10 months more then some more expansive phones
Not to evan say something about the premium feel and the build quality
So, lets discuss it now and here what you think overall of it.. not in every other topic..
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Posting this first will promote a better and more productive discussion.
BTW, the last time the Honor 8 FDR-L04/L14 were up-to-date with security patches was October 2016 when Huawei released B162 firmware. December security patch was released in February and that's the latest official we've got so far. Now the still to be released B385 update will bring us just up to March's patch.
I'm starting to see a pattern here now and is not good.
Hii @Dominikrod
Thanks for the link for the update policy
And yes it is not updated that fast.. like getting the march security in the late april or start of may
But is it really something to complain so much of it like some of users do?
What I want to say this is a very good phone not just for the price but it has right now more than some phones priced this much like the samsung A5 2016/2017 phones..
And I do belive that we will get not just the android O but also the needed support for it.. my opinion is it is like only 10 months on the marked and I think that Huawei is going to at some later point give the source code and needed support.. I am thinking thay just dont wont to give it all right at the very beginig of the phone.. so I always say the best is yet to come.. or It will be for me disapointed as some of you already are..
So I am still hoping
Thanks for your reply @Dominikrod. If what is actually going on is "the best possible" from Honor, then they are really bad at that.
People will always find something to complain about, but in this case, it is something that they (Honor) promised and they are not fulfilling. Imagine unboxing your phone and notice it have an inferior processor or half the RAM as announced. May be a little exaggerated, by I feel I'm not getting all that was promised.
I got this phone expecting to use great custom roms because of the XDA-Honor collaboration, which just seem like a scam from Honor by not releasing the kernel source.

Hii @fernandoarafat
And yes if it is the best possible wich is Huawei doing right now I think
it is still good enough but thats just my opinion
But yes I do see that this promise thing you all are saying made you all disappointed
in Huawei..
But nobody is saying if they ever gave a time limit like when they will be releasing anything
to the XDA community... all I hear is no more Huawei I wont be buying anymore phones from Huawei
or the other stuff you are disaappointed..
I just have an idea... like if Huawei had talked first with someone who was in charge from the XDA community..
And some of us ( as I know some developers ) were contacting Huawei..
Why don't we ask the ''someone'' from XDA community ( who made this agreement with Huawei )
to ask for all the Huawei owners here on XDA what is going on??
I think we should ask for what is promised and ask
for some answers or some time limit when some of things will happen.
Anybody more intrested?? Or maybe did anybody already spoke to someone
and has already some info regarding this??

Don't know if you remember this one but this is almost laughable!
This was Taylor speaking about their new Software Update Policy.
Taylor Wimberly, a customer acquisition manager at Huawei Technologies (which owns Honor), has even gone so far as to challenge other manufacturers to follow Honor's example. "I hope that by announcing this policy that we can change the industry for the better. Seriously, all OEMs should be doing this and I welcome them to join us."
I just tried to contact the XDA community
But after asking the things I was.. and hitting the red SEND button
to send my message to them.. well it just was sending and sending it forever..
So, I have saved the text in my notepad and will try later to send it
Or some other day..
If I succeed and if I get an answer I will report this back to all of you

Hi brljak83,
I'm not sure a 10 month-old phone counts as new device in this market, it's more of a passing one. The truth is that Huawei started quite nicely at the beginning but everything went down hill after November of last year. If you remember this phone was announced back in July/August and Huawei made all sort of PR stunts to convince prospect buyers that their product was the best choice in the $400 to $450 range, at least here in the USA market. I went ahead and bought for myself the $450 Honor 8 64GB at the beginning of that campaign. The Oneplus 3 was $399 at that time, but I wasn't happy with the way OnePlus treated OP2 and OPX owners, so I didn't wanted to do business with them anymore even though the OP3 was an amazing device for the price. Then OnePlus 3T happened and Huawei coudn't justify the overpriced H8 pricing strategy so retailers started discounting the Honor back in November. Some people may argue that H8 was not competing with the 5.5" screen phones but if you read carefully from the beginning that was their intention all alone. Actually some reviews I read compared it mostly with the OP3 and the Axon 7 since those phones are in the same price range or were.
Now mid May 2017, the OP3/3t and the Axon 7 64GB have Android 7.1.1 since April, plus both phones have been getting more frequent security update patches than the H8. And where are we? Still stuck with Android 7.0, December's Security Patch, battery drain issues and some old bugs that have not been fixed yet.
Now you tell me if Taylor Wimberly's August comment about other manufacturers should follow their example and commitment doesn't seem totally laughable.
What about this?

Hii
Thanks you for that link
I tried last night to contact the XDA community to get some answers
But it failed..
Thanks to you I got someone to contact regarding the partnership
When and if I get an answer I will post it and report it back to all of you
So that all of you will know what has been told to me
Thanks for the help :highfive:
No, I'm not happy.
I didn't buy this phone because of any xda partnership. I only found out about it after. Great!
I bought it because I liked Huawei devices, and despite EMUI being a pain sometimes, it had a lot of features that I did like.
What I did not expect was the endless amount of bugs and issues.
And now, I don't mind a few, it happens. I'm even happy we got an update to 7.0, even if they should have given us 7.1.
What I don't like is going MONTHS without a dime big patch.
Not to mention, due to "low sales", they're going to be pulling out of the US, so all of us will lose all support for our devices.
So no, forget it. I'm voting with my wallet and not buying another Huawei.
And you're right, everyone does say that. But I don't buy Samsung because of their terrible software and bloat. I don't buy LGs because of their bootlooping, and now I won't buy Huawei because of their piss poor support.
It's not about finding the "perfect phone" it's about finding a company that cares at least a little bit in fixing their bugs and meeting their commitments.
Which Huawei clearly isn't doing.
Hii @SolarisSixth
Well, it is your opinion for this phone and I do respect it..
But for me I am not bothered so much by some of the bugs.. And I have them too..
And what I would say to you as an advice from my own experiance becouse I had a lots of phones
like LG or Samsung or Sony or iPhone it is always the same story
Belive me always they say bad or week support I wont buy it again..
So you will have to choose your next phone wisely not to end disappointed again in the same way..
Do a lot of reading about your next phone couse otherwise you will end up again disappointed
Why
Couse it is by all of them the same way and the same treatment
The only thing what I know is for the very most expensive phones ( Flagships ) they get a bit more
treatment and a faster treatment couse it is the best company gives to the customers and it is
the phone that represents the company as the best one they have for that year.. and then you get
a bit better support for bugs and stuff.. couse they dont want to be bad by giving the most expensive one
wich should represent the best face of the company
So if money is not an issue for you and you already choose with your wallet then go for the
most expensive one and still if you get such a phone still be happy with what you get..

However, kernel source release, which Honor tells us will happen in the near future for the Honor 8
Click to collapse
 There is a broad definition about "near future". Also, legally they HAVE to share kernel source, but who cares about the law anyway?
I have also a Honor 7. They stop supporting roughly 1 year after release. No source code, no Nougat update. I thought they improved something, but apparently no. What a sucker!
It's up to anyone to deal in whatever manner they see fit with Huawei/Honor false promises. What is not debatable is if it's fair to demand for those promises being kept.
I'm not expecting anything besides what the brand promised. And for that I cannot be pointed as being over-demanding or wanting the impossible.
I was afraid of ZTE Axon support but apparently they lead the game, a long with OP and Sony. And given the lottery regarding quality of components Huawei P10, it's just all a big red flag not to spend a cent with the brand.
For now, I will keep the H8 and milk it as much as I can, until I see fit to change. For another brand, obviously.
So here I am to report it back to all of you
This maybe some good news afterall..maybe
It is regarding the partnership with XDA and to give the source code to us.

Well, i bought this phone at the end of March, this year. I bought it for 329€ on Amazon, and for that price at this specs i think it'a a very good phone, also considering that other similar phones costs even double this price sometimes. Afrer this i tried the phone and i just love it now. Fast, superb fingerprint sensor, good camera, good in gaming etc. The only thing i complain for is the GPU, could be better... However, talking about the software and updates, i think that we will get at least 7.1.1 (if Honor respect their promises). I'm not just talking however, i got in touch with Honor USA on Twitter and that's what they told me:
http://imgur.com/a/OSmLv Screen 1
http://imgur.com/a/RBBFb Screen 2
Ps. The first screen is from a pic that i saw on internet, related to another conversation with Honor USA (not mine). I just sent them this pic and tried to get a confirm from them...wich in the 50% maybe they gave me. Now i don't know if they will relase Android 7.1.1 with EMUI 5.1 someday, but i hope to see it. No hopes for Android O however...
What do you think?

More real estate for screen so FP goes to the back. Trending way for most new phones.
Least this one will come with Oreo and hopefully they give it 2 OS update cycles, unlike the screwjob we got with the 3t

Screwjob? The OnePlus 3T came with Android 6.0.1, was updated to Android 7.x, and now Android 8.0 is on beta channel.
6.0.1 -> 7.x -> 8.0
That makes two update cycles.

You can feel anyway you like mate.
But facts are facts and it is what it is.

Hmmm, I'm becoming more of the opinion that my 3T is too big.
I miss having a smaller, 5" say phone.
Bigger screen/same footprint doesn't interest me at all.
There's really nothing on the market that grabs my attention and makes me want to buy it...
With the release of the Oneplus 5T incoming, I'm left questioning the longevity of my Oneplus 3T. You see, my issue is that just a few days back I got pushed around a shopping mall and my phone dropped face first from around chest height. The phone is now having 30% of its screen cracked from the bottom right. Thankfully all the functions still work but looking at the screen is still a pain. My only options are to pay about $120 to buy a replacement screen and have it shipped to my home country (in the middle east) and look for a shop that'll replace and hopefully not damage the device. My only other option is to get a oneplus 5T or use this phone as is until the oneplus 6 comes out and buy that. According to how I buy things, I like to keep my phone for atleast 2 years before I change to a new one, so far it has been only 11 months. So what would you, the community, recommend me to do now that we know that Oneplus will no longer be updating the 3T? Thank you for the advice

I switched to Sultan XDA lineage OS. currently running 10/22/17 build with flashed 4.5.1 modem. In the USA on Mint, this is a rock solid ROM which fixed my GPS issues and has VOLTE. wifi calling is disabled. I am not going back to OOS (4.5.0 was the last version on my 3T A3000). The way you're thinking is the exact reason why controlled obsolescence is so successful. If OP5T comes with Android 7.1.1/7.1.2 out of box that will be the similar case of what happened with OP3T. Apple supports their OS for 4-5 years, while Android devices "die" in 2 years or less than that. No matter how okay you are with that, doesn't justify the act at all.
It is sad that people actually buy these justifications and make peace with it. These devices are so powerful that software updates can make it running for 5 years easy. "Easy". But they don't. Either Snapdragon will pull out support or OEM will. At the end of the day they want the money, and we the sheep always fall for "flashy unnecessary stuff that doesn't even matter".

It's sad when you're supporting Apple for having Software Support for their devices >5 Years old, but call Android users "sheep", when you have fanboys supporting Apple for new phones that are similar in design and internal specs [Except the IP8/8+/X], but mark my words, the next few iPhones will be a repeat in all what we like about the recent Apple phones.
As per my knowledge of the definition of Sheep: People who fall in line for repeated and fake ideas without having any reason as to why they're following.
And in all my time of using Android devices, any flagship line of devices have never been repeated in specs and design, unlike *cough* iPhone *cough*. An example : iPhone SE
Sure, OEM's may not support Android devices for long, but for a flagship device, there will always be Custom ROM's. Hell, even my Galaxy S3 has Oreo/Nougat ROM's.

If you say that people's dedication towards nation in North Korea is awesome doesn't make you a NK fanboy. If you can't say what's good for what it is, then shame on you and shame on you for trying to shut me from saying that.
I'm tired of you people tagging - oh he's a Nvidia fanboy, oh he's an amd fanboy. I'm a consumer. A "consumer".
And here you go spitting venom about this and that aspect of apple and Android. Yo, I'm talking about software support here !! I'm not taking side of apple or android which your blockhead clearly missed out. But that's okay. It's your life, it's your money and it's your choice.
But what really is interesting is, I spoke about apple being good about software updates and you lost your mind !! And readily assumed me to be an apple user in xda. That's cool ... That's cool. A sheep is a sheep. Whether it's an android user or apple. Anyway, good day to you.

I'd like you to re-read my reply, and check where I called you an Apple fanboy or even an Apple user. I clearly stated that you calling Android users sheep is funny when Apple fanboys are sheep for a repeated device. I have NOT called you an Apple fanboy nor have I called you an Apple product consumer. Please do go re-read if you still think so.
Throwing insults around like a child? Do go on, because I never "spat venom" at any clarification or any idea you stated, and I did not "lose my mind", I was speaking in a calm and cool way, unlike you who had the audacity to insult me, when I didn't even say anything to offend you in the first place. If you misread or misunderstood my reply, that's not my problem, it's your problem.
Well, if you speak and think like this on any forum, no wonder you're disappointed how the community helps you or treats you. You don't even have your facts straight yet, OEM's don't support their devices readily with the newest OS updates, but they do update even their older devices with important security updates, I.E.: OnePlus rolling out the KRACK vulnerability fix to the OP2.
And frankly speaking, I deem it viable for Apple to release updates for their older devices, when you spend an absurd amount on even an older device. Overly expensive=Good after sales support and OTA's
But you want a budget flagship killer company(OnePlus) to;
1. Make powerful devices that are at budget prices
2. Support the device and older devices for a time period of 5 years.
3. Keep releasing newer and newer devices with updated hardware, while doing #2
You think that all the staff, manufacturing and running costs run on Air, but they got to keep their lights running. If it's a company like Apple who price their devices at absurd prices and have no price depreciation for a couple of years, yes they should give OTA's for a long time.
You don't take anything into consideration, but only the fact that it needs to keep you happy and at a low price.
Quoting @RASTAVIPER ; Go buy an iPhone, because Android OEM's release OTA's for the time period of that device. When they've completed their OTA stages for the flagship, we have an amazing community to support each other, unlike Apple who keep their devices locked down, so they HAVE to give OS updates.
Keep throwing childish insults at anyone who argues with you on XDA or any other forum, and see if anyone will be happy to help you.
Also, if it didn't get through to you, I did not call you an Apple fanboy, and neither did I involve anything so personally condemning for you to insult me.
Definition of sheeple (Sheep of Apple)
informal
: people who are docile, compliant, or easily influenced
Seriously so much false flag in this thread its insane... Android phones would have 5 year updates if people would not want a "new" phone every six months. Simple

What's your ETA for the Android O update?

So, a few sources say that our devices will receive the Android O update very soon and to pass the time, why not share our expected or assumed OTA roll-out dates? I think that we will receive the update by the end of this month. What about you?
Agreed. I think they will probably release a rollback package or something like that with the original firmware to go along with it (7.0).
Here Are The Facts..

It's ironic how you say this topic is irrelevant when you only reply with, "it's coming" which indicates absolutely nothing. This is a thread for everyone's expected ETA as the official rollout date is still unannounced. On another note, hopefully I won't deal with dense users like I did on the Le 2 forums, shudders.

From everything that I've read and taking Honor's past into consideration I think we may have to wait until March, which makes little to sense to me.
Why isn't Honor putting a little more effort into marketing this device? I've bought a half a dozen so far, primarily for friends that were still using phones from 3-5 years ago. They all love it and of course, coming from older devices, they feel like this device is a flagship!
Only real thing I miss is NFC, but my watch has it. 2.4 GHz is what I use for everything but my video streaming devices. I really could care less it still has a MicroUSB port.

Your Comments Caught My Eye...
You seem to be a very Nice and Thoughtful friend.. To purchased not only 1 of these devices for yourself.. but to gift over $1,200.00 U.S.D. / 985 EURO's to friends to update their devices.. is truly a friend indeed :good:
Since you are obviously a man of means... what brought you to this budget device in the Honor 7X ?
It's certainly not the fastest..
Or.. has the best display...
Or.. the most RAM..
Why not the View 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, One Plus 5T, Pixel, S8, Note 8 ???
What brought a man of your means to the Honor 7X.. I'm really curious to know if you don't mind sharing..
As a software developer I own a plethora of devices and usually carry a minimum of 2 devices. Generally I am very conscious of the condition of my devices and despite the fact the majority of them never leave an office environment, they are all plastered in screen protectors and cases, it seems like they become more fragile every year. The S8 has been my secondary to my Pixel XL 2 since I got it, but as soon as I received the Honor 7X I put the S8 in the drawer. The 7X runs naked and I'm not worried about dropping it. It has enough of what I need. I run package Disabler and remove most of EMUI and Huawei's bloat, with Pixel launcher installed, I have a very close to stock Android on a rugged unit that's as tough as a 90s Nokia!
