Phone getting hot after harmless app download - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Here are the facts, short and simple:
Phone is rooted
Boot procedure is normal. For now, I think...
You can already feel the back and front upper areas becoming warm after 10 seconds when the power button was pressed
After booting, it takes 20-30 seconds once the phone becomes laggy of fully unresponsive and gets to a warmth of about 40° C (104° F)
Once in the "frozen" (no pun intended) state, the only way to interact with the phone is to take out the battery
All of this happened after downloading this app from the phone's Play Store.
I'm honestly scared to put the battery in just one more time as I feel it won't start anymore after doing so.
Any experience with this?

Alright, quick note to the case: CRISIS AVERTED
One or more out of 13 apps I uninstalled caused the problem. I doesn't overheat anymore, anyway.

So, out of nowhere my Mogul has been running SLOWWWWWW at random

*repost from PPCgeeks*
This just started happening within the last couple hours. I haven't recently installed/uninstalled ANYTHING, haven't messed with any settings, no reg. edits, nothing at all. When restarting, I notice that sometimes it takes longer that it usually does to load my today screen. I'm noticing no differences in RAM at startup. I notice, for example, going back and forth between tabs on HTC home, the phone will freeze for a couple seconds and resume working normally after that. When receiving a phone call, it takes FOREVER for it to respond when trying to accept or deny the call. While in a call, it responds terribly slow when trying to raise/lower volume. Sometimes going from portrait to landscape and vice versa even takes longer than normal. I've had ZERO problem with my Mogul since I first got it 4 months ago and now I'm ready to throw it out the damn window. What's the word guys? I can go on about a couple other things that the device is slowing on, but I think you guys get the picture. TIA.
On another note, I first noticed it doing this when I plugged the device into my car charger. After that, regardless of being on battery power or external power, it was sluggish like never before. I noticed today, my battery died faster than usual. About 1.5 hrs ago, it was at 40% charge, and within less than an hour it dropped down to 10%. I had data turned off all that time and I still noticed the battery drop as well as hotter than normal backplate. Could it be something with the power source? I remember once, quite awhile ago, my phone totally died and after I charged it for a bit and turned it back on, it ran the same way, hhhmmmmmmmmm.

[4.5.91] Anyone seen this weird crash?

It's pretty odd. What happens is I leave my phone in my pocket for a while. Eventually, seemingly through no effort of my own, I'll pull it out and it will be almost literally on fire. When I wake the screen up, I can see I have no cell connection, the battery is almost dead, and no services seem to be showing in the notification bar. Then, I unlock my screen, and there are a bunch of crash dialogs showing. Typically the one on top is that the Market has crashed and must be force closed. There are about 8 of these dialogs and as soon as I close them all, my phone reboots. After rebooting, I am in the same state. No services started and a pile of dialogs after unlocking, I have to pull the battery for several minutes to let the phone cool down, then when I start it back up it sits at the Rethinking Possible screen for almost 5 minutes and afterwards my phone is working normally aside from needing a charge.
Has anyone else seen this problem??
i think you should try factory wipe.
if no luck then flash it with gingerbread .

Reset to factory, call moto and request a new battery just in case. The battery should be free if you are still under warranty and they even pay for shipping.

Overheating Transformer:(

Not sure if this is a common problem (sorry if I didn't look hard enough in the forums) but after the ICS update, my tablet sometime gets very hot (as in I could feel the heat through my backpack even with it inside a neoprene case). I still get the random restarts but there are times when the transformer seems to be in sleep mode yet steadily gets hotter and hotter until I am forced to shut it down.
I was wondering if this is a common problem with the ICS update or if I should get mine checked out
Thanks.
I hate saying this every time: Have you done basic troubleshooting like factory reset and coldboot and checking if it still gets hot when you don't have any 3rd party apps installed?
Other than that, it's most likely a hardware problem that you have to RMA.
yea it's almost definitely a hardware issue since theres no moving parts in there.
It may be the batteries but just like above me said, try doing cold reboot or maybe a factory reset. If it still happens you def have a hardware issue
I had experienced overheating just one. One night, I left my TF on its CaseLogic case turned on before I went to work. When I came back, it was stuck on the Asus loading page, the dots were not even moving. I had to press the power button for about 10 sec to turn it off. When I checked the battery temp, it was 42 degrees celcius. After that, I do not leave my TF turned on anymore when I leave it at home.

[Q] Hardware Buttons Light

First I would like to say I can't remember how the keys are called, all I know they are the menu and back keys, and that they should light up for a second and turn off until used again.
I'm having couple of problems with my phone being awake all times, battery drain and mostly overheating.
Some hours ago, my phone was reaching battery temperature of about 42ºC while screen off and apparently "nothing" abnormal running in background. After restarting the device, first thing coming to mind was to put it in the fridge for a couple of minutes to let it cool down.
The problem is, 2 minutes turned out to be some hours. When I removed it from the fridge, I noticed the hardware keys weren't lighting up. Restarted, still nothing. They work, but won't light.
What could it be? Maybe the low temperature did something to it? Or was it condensed water from the fridge? What can I do to make them go back fully functional again?
Issue solved, the overheating made it go back working once more.
Maybe try putting your phone in a bag of rice for 24 hrs to draw the moisture out

Phone screen awake slow

Hello dear XDA guys ,
Sometimes the touch sensor doesn't work, but when pressing the power button the screen lights up and turns off normally, but the touch ID sensor doesn't respond, also can't lift up the screen to pattern unlock.
After maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute the phone wakes and repeats all the taps I made until this moment.
Also, sometimes when in call I take the phone away from my ear but the screen won't light up until 10 seconds or so..
I'll mention that after restarting the phone, the issue disappears for 1 or 2 days until it's suddenly returns.
Worth mentioning that after this incident happens, the battery drain is much higher than normal!
bump
anyone seem to find this issue familiar?
Sounds like a malicious app, try checking your battery stats and apps for anything unusual.

Hi! already did, "Android System" Takes the most (40%) - and of course after a restart it gets back to normal (about 18%)
nothing suspicious besides that..
Perform a factory reset.
The issue should be gone, install apps that are out of the ordinary later and test to see if that's when the issue comes back.
Alternatively try something like Gsam
