Capacitive < back button does not light - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi folks,
I am new to the Xiaomi routine but took the plunge at Christmas after many moons with M7s...
The phone is obviously much more swift, the more modern gimcracks inside make it seem like a different world and the battery seems amazing. However...a niggle or two...
The < capacitive key light does not light. It has not since I started using the phone a week or so back. Is there a fix for this? Or is this a hardware issue?
Also the damn keyboard seems to jump into flags or smileys all too easily when I am typing. Can I switch this off?
Finally the volume of the speaker on wattsapp is very low. Which is odd as when playing youtube videos the volume seems okay. I am yet to make any actual phone calls.
Any advice would be welcome.
The thing is under warranty for a year. And I have sent word f the issues to the seller.
Cheers,
Daniel

Just sent off a "faulty" Touch HD.

Hi,
I think I may have made a mistake, but was wondering if anyone else has / has not had a similar experience.
I got my Touch HD a couple of weeks ago, and although I was completely knocked out with its amazingness ( new word, patented by me! ), something bothered me about the amount of pressure I was having to use, particularly in the centre of the screen when touching.
I know there have been tweaks and hacks posted and the pressure required on the touchscreen is variable, so I fiddled and tweaked and carried on. It was only after I started using FingerKeyboard2 (which also warrants "amazingness" status.) that I noticed that when holding keys down and releasing for special characters and numbers, my HD was registering a second press upon release. So when holding for number "5" I got a letter "t" too when I released. This really annoyed me.
I've had a look from a varry shallow angle at the screen, with the device turned off and pressed in the middle and compared to the edges, and it seems as though the digitizer "domes" over the screen. There's a large void in the middle that's not present at the edges, which means that to register touches in the middle, I have to press the digitizer against the screen. I think this is causing the double presses, and having to apply extra pressure in the middle.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've taken it to CPW today and they've sent off for a replacement, which will arrive on Monday
Has anyone else noticed this, is it normal and I've sent a perfectly good Touch HD away? Have a look for me please, and spare an old(ish) man his sanity!
I can only speak for myself but, specially after tweaking, the hd screen is VERY sensible to touch, no need for hard presses at all. I think you actually had a faulty machine...
My touch screen is very good, shame the wifi has died on it and it's doing strange things. Mine will be back to CPW as well
My touchscreen works very well, without tweaking I think it does the job and recognizes my presses easily and accurately. However, my problem is that I can see the touch sensors even when the screen is turned on... I see small green-coloured dots, in a regular grid, specially when I have a white background. Annoying, but I think I can live with it... Better than send it to the service and wait a long time, with the risk of getting a new screen which may have dead pixels (I don't have any now).
Thanks for your replies everyone, makes me feel better about not having my Touch HD over the weekend. I pick up my replacement tomorrow and I think I'm suffering from withdrawal already.

Back Button Powers off screen?

I've been using android exclusively for the pass few days and have been really impressed with the progress that has been made on the HD2. I now find this phone to be less intolerable than when it was on wm6.5.
I have noticed i am using the hardware buttons a lot more in android. One problem i have though is that often when I use the "back" button it turns off the screen about maybe 30 percent of the time or so. I believe this because the buttons are not separate pieces but connected?
anybody else experiencing similar issues? Any fixes out there? Sorry if this has been addressed already in a different thread.
You have fat fingers
actually i have very skinny fingers. i only weigh 115 lbs. I have something else that is quite thick but if i used it on my phone i might crack the screen haha.
seriously though no one else is having this problem?
I think it's a hardware problem, maybe something (probably dirt) is stuck under your buttons?
I have similar problems with the back and middle button. It seems to be from them wearing out, which is happening a lot quicker since using android because the buttons are more necessary for operation. I've always been very gentle with my buttons, too. My phones in perfect condition except for the button issues. There's a couple threads around about the hard buttons wearing out... I don't think they were manufactured all that well personally... they don't seem all that stable. Most people don't have problems, but many have. Most newer android phones seem to use capacitive buttons. They are probably more stable that way, don't wear out easily, and have less manufacturing defects.
I've been thinking of sending mine in for warranty repair, because mine are progressively getting worse... yours might too. Or you can maybe set your volume keys as the back key. It would be great if some sort of onscreen back key could be made as that is probably my most used button.

Haptic Feedback messed up?

So I have this phone a week or more now and I have been having no issues whatsoever except for the battery timing being very low which I have came learn how to use more efficiently reading guides however I've come across a new problem..a problem that seriously driving me crazy
First of my phone hasn't been accidentally dropped or suffered any shock
So I've been texting and typing a lot with the phone and I loved the feeling of its haptic feedback which was very strong I think the intensity was maxed out but since last night I've been feeling it weird to type messages on it and I realized the phone hasn't been vibration back strong enough on its feedback and now vibrations is so weak It is really killing the joy, at first I felt that may be I'm being paranoid and nothing is wrong with it but after a good night sleep I am still feeling its Not intense enough for me,
I tried the screen test and the phone vibrates like a beast! but when ever it comes to using the keyboard the vibration is so low, on the intensity options the phone vibrates strongly but on keyboard its very low! I can't figure out what the problem is the vibrating is fine with other things but not with haptic feed back.. anybody know what I should do? is it a software or hardware problem? Its my first smart phone and touch screen experience and its really got ruined...
-edit-
Okay just found out something new when I used the Swype keyboard the haptic feedback got stronger so that means this isn't a hardware problem? but if its a software problem I have no Idea whats wrong with it cause I haven't done any updates on it, have reset the phone plenty of times but no avail..
Same here, except that I have used CyanogenMod ROM ( worked fine ) then restored a stock, KI3 backup. After restore I have the same behavior as you. I'll try to switch back to CM to see if helps
D: God the feedback is making it feel..so cheapish like it had a very strong vibration now it feels as if the vibrator inside is broken or something very light is vibrating..
in the start I was feeling the vibrations very weird like as if the vibrator isn't fit in the phone right but after I put the phone through vibration test the vibrations didn't have this jerkish feeling to them but now they are soo low and on swype God it feels so good but I hate using that keyboard .
CyanogenMod works fine, switching back to stock no. At least seems to be software issue

[Q] Wobbly volume buttons on GNote3.

First off I want to start by saying that this is potentially the best piece of technology I have ever bought. I am in LOVE with the flexibility of Android (brand new iOS switch over) and the raw power and hardware of the N3.
I bought this beast a couple of days ago and I instantly noticed that the home button was a bit wiggly if I tried hard to make it wiggle. Needless to say I ran to the web and found that may others have been having the same issue but its not a deal breaker in any way. I have come to terms with it and it no longer bothers me.
What I also noticed was that the volume buttons are quite loose and shake quite a bit if I move them around with my finger. I can also hear them rattling a little bit if I shake the phone and if it vibrates there is a slight sound. Is this also standard with all N3's or are my volume rockers a one off case?
I am under a replacement warranty and getting a new piece should be no issue, but if this volume issue is a common one then I wont bother as everything else is working perfectly and I don't want to risk running into different problems with another N3.

Not seen any issues regarding Volume buttons being dodgy, only the home button. (only a small percentage tho) - Guess you just got a lemon unit, it does happen from time to time with any hardware.
I've got no problems on the home button or the volume buttons or the power button. Once you put a case on it you won't notice if it's just minor. But if it's bad, is get it changed. ..?

Jumpy/Shaky screen while holding finger on my new S8

Hello,
When I scroll down/left/right in my phone and hold my finger on display, the screen automatically shakes left and right or up and down (depending on how I was scrolling my device). This also occurs while charging and while moving an icon on home-screen. I had this issue previously with Asus Zenfone 3, Samsung Galaxy J7 and a HTC Desire (dont remember the exact model though) and a similar issue with iphone 6 (which was registering that my finger was moving on home button). Is this a software problem or hardware problem and how can I fix this ? I have read on web that many people are facing this issue on various phones. but couldnt find any solution yet. Is this my screen sensitivity/touch/display driver/ battery or something else ? If anyone could suggest something, would be really helpful.
Edit: Exactly the same issue as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxysauxJ5Yk&feature=youtu.be but mine shakes a bit less, still annoys me while playing 8 ball pool and other aiming games like angry birds, etc.
Thanks
There is an app which you can use to test your touch screen by drawing on it. You'll be able to see exactly what it's registering. From what I've seen it happens on a lot of phones with bad digitizers. Try to get a warranty replacement.

Hello,
Sorry for delay. I went to service centre and they said that it is normal because of smooth and silky touch and slight movement of fingers. I explained him that it occurs more while charging and he had to take my phone for inspection.
Here is the correct video : https://youtu.be/PmQ2lra4RXU
My hand didnt have tremors. I agree that human hands are not 100 % stable, however, none of my other phones do it. And if my hand is shaking, then it should shake also while the phone is not charging. When I unplug my device, it stops shaking (almost stops), but when I replug it, it starts to behave weird again when I am holding finger stable. Also, this shaking will move your aim pointer in gaming and it really is annoying while play games with pointer moving.
Is it really normal that your pointer moves while your finger is stable on screen ?
