Does freezing system apps interfere with OTA? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

I've systemless-ly rooted using magisk and the next step I wanted was to freeze certain system apps with something like Titanium backup freeze feature.
Would doing so affect my device getting OTA? I'd hate for that to happen. Thanks

OTA updates stop if the SafetyNet check fails. So disable the apps you want and then (restart just in case) use Magisk Manager to check if SafetyNet is still OK. I suspect disabling things like Google Play Services would make SafetyNet fail.

No it will not interfere with OTA's, when disabling system apps you won't alter the system partition so you'll be fine and OTA's will be applied normally.

VS995 crashing after trying to uninstall system app

So me being stupid as usual, I uninstalled system apps without backing up my system partition... After uninstalling a few, it was ok, but when I got to trying to uninstall the Amazon Kindle app, system app remover seemed to fail at removing it and it installed back as soon as Id uninstall it. Not really knowing what was wrong, I used TB to uninstall it and my phone proceeded to reboot as soon as I clicked uninstall. The app remained on my phone and my phone became very laggy.. Freezing the app helped a lot, but I think this caused other issues over time. Eventually the phone will freeze entirely and reboot. Attempting to uninstall it from anywhere (Play store, system settings, TB) results in crashing as well even when its frozen.
What im wondering is if I should flash a rom, flash the Kdz, or just flash a clean system.img if someone could supply it... I have no idea what will fix this...

Snapchat not working, unrooting only solution?

I'm considering doing this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-return-to-stock-relock-bootloader-t3489110 in order to get snapchat working again, but what's not clear is whether that process wipes the phone or not (I'm assuming it does).
I was going to try the "log into a second device then backup to first" process here https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/snapchat-rooted-phones-xposed-t3283198 but it looks like that doesn't work anymore?
There's also a post deleting a certain file https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/snapchat-rooted-devices-xposed-nougat-t3483001 but I get "operation failed" inside Root Browser whenever I try to rename, move, edit permissions for the file liboemcrypto.so
Current Android Version 6.0 and I followed the root process here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3200808 using the alternate SuperSU version.
The way I have always done it is just restore a backup with TB with data. I have had problems in the past, but another way would be to find a ROM with a root on/off switch (Like a CM base where you can enable/disable in dev options), unroot, log in to Snapchat, BACK UP TO TB (and save it in 9 places in case it gets corrupted somehow), and then root once again.
Going back to stock is pretty extreme for this issue honestly. You can work around it without going through that process. The reason the xposed process you linked isn't working is because of root, not JUST because of xposed. So those people would need to disable the xposed framework, then unroot, THEN log into Snapchat. They seem to be missing a step.

What would happen if I tried SuperSU's "full unroot" function? Agree going back to stock is pretty extreme, but I also noticed I don't have the latest update, and presumably at some point I'll need to update to Nougat. There aren't any apps that I use that require root anymore.
Easiest way to use snapchat and root. Login to snapchat before rooting. Root. Do not log out of snapchat. Or you can go the magisk way with magiskSu and use magisk hide.

How to disable Moto G5 Plus Update Notification?

Keep getting the update pops up and I dont want to update. Is there a way to disable the update itself?
I tried App Settings > System Apps > Moto Update Services, Force stopped but there isnt Freeze or disable Options like my S8. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I froze it in Titanium Backup. That is if you're rooted of course.
Why don't you just update what's the point in not updating when there is an update.
This is under the developer options. It bugged me too.
I'd have a street party if mine said there was an update, i think it is a myth and no updates actually exist.

What option stops the notification? Disabling automatic system updates will still prompt you occasionally to update if there is an update pending.
Using Titanium Backup, I assume freezing Motorola Update Services should be the only app required, correct?
If I wanted an opinion on whether or not I should perform the update, I would have referred to the "should I perform the update" thread - not the "How to disable the G5 plus update notification".
Seems like a very simple thing to understand, no?
Here is the real answer:
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota
Ok, but more clarification please.

Got a new Moto G5 plus (unlocked) with 7.0. Spouse accidentally downloaded update BUT caught the error before installing the update, and did not install. The file is apparently on the phone and now badgers us constantly to install. I want to halt the automatic update process and remove the downloaded update file. I have disabled automatic updates under the 'Developer Options' as you say, but the notice continues, even after reboot. I suspect it is because the update is now resident on the phone and triggers the process, even though it has been switched off under developer options. This phone has not been rooted. I guess the fix will require rooting, but I'm apprehensive about what method is the most current and reliable, specifically for this phone. Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Til then, a billion annoyances.
Same issue here - and the update notification is extremely aggressive. It will interrupt anything I'm doing, including videos/music on YouTube.
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that we need to flash a stock recovery and boot.img temporarily, but I don't know if that's accurate. I'm wondering if I should just wipe it and install Unofficial LineageOS.
For clarity, at least in my case:
Phone is rooted
TWRP Recovery
Custom boot.img
Stock ROM
EDIT: I'm trying NeoGeo's advice and freezing Motorola Update Services using Titanium Backup.

Root, then unroot (Stock)

Hi.
I'm getting a G6 soon. Since I use it for my banking stuff, I wonder if this is possible:
- Unlock Bootloader
- Root stock rom
- Flash kernel without dm-verity, so that unlocked bootloader still passes safetynet cleanly (suggestions?)
- Modify a few files (navbar buttons, HOSTS file)
- Unroot, but leave BL unlocked, since otherwise the changes would be wiped
- Pass safetynet without the need of any hiding tools
Main reason being, I only need some minor changes, most important being adblocking by hosts file (doesn't need to be updated regulary), but I use the phone for banking stuff etc too, and my banking and PushTAN apps have some pretty nasty root detection features by now.
Magisk hide works simple without the needs of all this work.
That's not the point. In the past, the pushtan app suddenly stopped working twice, because they found a means to detect magisk. I can't risk suddenly being without the use of my banking apps, so I want to be able to have a clean system after the changes, with no trace of root left.
No. You, your bank app and safetynet always be playing catch-up with each other. Use some old random locked device for banking & keep your g6 for daily use if it's that critical.

How to disable system update nag on rooted OnePlus 8 Pro?

How to disable system update nag on rooted OnePlus 8 Pro? Thanks.
Update it.
Other than that, you can install some sort of notification blocker to remove the notification, or a magisk module to uninstall the system updater.
If you decide to update it, just let it update, but make sure that you have automatic restart disabled, and that you won't restart the phone when it says to restart. Then just go to magisk, click install to inactive slot, wait for it to finish, then restart. Voila, notification disappeared, and you still have root.
Thanks, but I don't plan to update, I have the phone set up the way I want it. Someone in another site mentioned on the Motorola Z3 he needed to freeze the OTA updater. If anyone know what the OnePlus OTA updater is called please share. These are the apps I currently have freezed.
Also how the hell did my device know there's a new version? I freezed the updaters right after root. If anyone knows the IP for the OnePlus update servers please share, I have AdAway installed, I can add them to the custom block list. Thanks.
I found out the nag is from Google Play Services so I'm SOL unless I want to de-google my phone.
Yes nagging will never stop, but your system will never be updated with the freezing. At least it is just a few times a day. I am never moving to 11 and up

Thanks. But I found out that the nag comes from Google Play Services, there's no way to disable it without affecting other Google apps.
