Hey everyone! I've been lurking for a bit, but first-time poster - hopefully this is in the right section!
I have a Nexus 7 (2012) that has no OS and hangs on the bootup splash screen. Unfortunately, the micro-USB port was broken at some point in its life, and the replacement port also doesn't work - when it's plugged in, Windows doesn't recognise it (device descriptor request failed).
So, is there any way for me to rescue this Nexus? I can't sideload any files onto it, and its storage is clean other than a factory image which can only be flashed with fastboot :crying:
I would appreciate it if anyone had any advice on this issue.
(The recovery on it is TWRP 3.0.2-0, if that helps.)
Thanks in advance, and happy holidays to everyone!

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following thread.

I have two A500s and have rooted and flashed them both successfully.
One day my main tab, the other is for the family, was working then it just stopped. It would boot to the "Acer" logo and go no further. I left it like that all night with no result.
So, I figure that I'll just flash a new rom to fix it. I tried 6 or 8 different roms; all booted only partially like before. I did a factory reset, flipping the screen lock back and forth. Still would only boot part way and hold. I continued to look for different roms (what do they say when you keep trying the same thing expecting different results?).
Now the tab doesn't seem to come on at all; that is the screen stays dark. The light on the power button comes on and I can turn it off by holding for 10 seconds and turn it on again. I connected to my PC and it requested a driver which I installed. the PC makes the "new hardware" sound but I don't find it in "My Computer".
I have tried to access it via “adb devices”, but no devices are detected.
This is the extent of my efforts and knowledge. If anyone is able to help please email me at [email protected]. I have been reading the blogs and am posting this to several blogs so I might not find your answer if it is to the blog only.
Btw,
I did find a post that describes something like this on an A200 at this blog:
http://www.acertabletforum.com/forum/acer-iconia-a200-help/5895-solved-my-a200-wont-turn.html
I'm tempted to attempt it if I don't find an answer specific to the A500.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!!
==================================================
edit: I tried the A200 solution to no affect.
bricked a500
I have the exact same issue, does not go past acer logo screen and Win 7 does not show the device when connected. I can hear the sound when you plug the usb cable but nothing visible or no icon on the screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I recently tried to get sky go working on my rooted nexus 7 by installing a program which would show the nexus as unrooted, when i rebooted the device it came on but the screen was blank but the lcd light was on.
I then decided to unroot and restore to original settings, I did this with the nexus root toolkit everything went through fine but the nexus is now stuck in continual bootloop and I cant enable usb debugging because I can switch the nexus on.
I cannot get into recover mode the message comes boot failed neither can i start the device again it says boot failed
I've had a look at other threads but cant seem to find a solution when you dont have access to usb debugging mode. Please help

I was driven crazy by exactly the same problem as you but I found a solution from here and elsewhere. i.e. two different sites.
See my post:
Booting Failed Bricked Nexus 7 - 2012
on this forum today.
The bulk of my help came from another site but the final steps were completed here.
I am a new member here and I wouldn't like to be banned for providing a link to different site here. If the mods give me permission I will help you but until then you can always email or p.m. me.

First off I'm new to androids and rooting and all but tried to root my nexus 7 2013 model unsuccessfully!
I was able to unlock the bootloader but skipped the step where i was supposed to reboot and enable usb debugging, now I'm stuck in the TWRP screen and cant root or even boot up my tablet normally. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated I've been stuck with this for 2 weeks now and cant figure it out.
If you need any other info let me know. Thanks
You should start by posting in the right forum section. This forum is for the 2012 nexus 7
I have to post it here, because no one in the 'Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting' thread are replying anything.
Since I use to own an A500, I know how active and helpful the memeber of this thread are.
As there's no dedicaded thread for my newly bought Acer Iconia A210, I'm in dire need of you guys!
Here's my issue:
I was trying to root my device using this instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...5&highlight=up
Now I'm stuck at bootloader screen, with an acer logo and in left top corner is: bootloader version ISC-MR1-b05547a (unlock mode)
I can't communicates with tablet via USB (no device found) even I can't get to recover mode.
What should I do?
Hi there,
Here's my problem : Recently i wanted to install the beta version of Android L on my Nexus 7. But during the installation, the "flash-all.sh" command took too much time to be executed (30 minutes insted of 20 seconds aproximately) so I quit the terminal while this command was processing and I unplug the tablet from my computer. After this, when I wanted to restart my tablet, I got stuck at the Google logo. So I tried to reset it by flashing the factory image but the real problem is that my computer doesn't detect my tablet when it's plugged in.
And now I don't have any idea of what to do.
Please tell me that someone here is able to help me !!
Hi,
Are you sure you're booting in fastboot? Also, make sure you have the correct android rules set up and that your fastboot and adb drivers are set up correctly.
Also, try flashing the img files manually. Another thing that may be useful for you is trying to post your issue in the Nexus 7 (2013) forum .
Good luck,
~Lord

The fastboot mode is the only "piece of software" that i can access so i'm pretty sure yes.
And how can i move my thread into the Nexus 7 (2013) forum ?
