Can't root, reactivation lock enabled even with no Samsung Account - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I tried to root my phone using the instructions from this thread; I'm no expert, but I have rooted other phones previously, and I followed the instructions to the letter. Unfortunately, every time I get the error message "Custom binary(recovery) Blocked By R/L" on my phone.
I didn't initially know what this was, so I looked around a bit and it looks like it refers to the Samsung Reactivation Lock. Problem is, I just bought the phone today, I have no Samsung account linked to this phone, and the Reactivation Lock option under "Security" is turned off. I tried messing around with it a little, and found a few other very puzzling things. First of all, when I access the "About device" section of my phone, it says it's an SM-N910F; but when the phone is in download mode, it says "PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910P". I have no idea what to make of this.
Also, as I mentioned, when the phone is booted, the Reactivation Lock is unchecked (as it should be, since I don't have a connected Samsung account); but when the phone is in download mode, it says "REACTIVATION LOCK: On".
So I decided to try and connect my Samsung account, thinking that maybe if I did that, activated the lock and then de-activated it, it would stick. So I did the proper procedure to connect my account, I click on "Reactivation Lock" to check it, it asks me for my password, I enter it, it loads for a while and then it boots me back to the previous screen, and the "Reactivation Lock" option remains unchecked. I tries this several times, even after reboots, and for some reason it doesn't let me activate the option; other features of the Samsung account work just fine, so it's not a server or password problem.
Sorry for the long post, but there were a lot of weird things I thought I should mention, even though I'm not sure how much they're related to the problem. The main problem, as I mentioned, is that I can't root my phone because it tells me Reactivation Lock is on, but Reactivation Lock is off and I can't actually turn it on even if I try to. I have no idea what to make of this, I couldn't find any solution online, and I'd just like to root my phone so I can change the fonts (not like I need to do any major hacking).
I should probably also mention that the phone is on Android version 5.1.1.
I'd greatly appreciate any help you could give me.

How to fix Clear credentials disabled/grayed out???

Hi,
I have a N910C Exynos (oem) on Lollipop and i´m tryning to wipe my credentials but in the Security options the "Clear credentials" option is disabled/grayed out. How can i turn this option on??
Explain and Things that i already tried:
Problem starts after i tried to root my galaxy. It was already in 5.1.1 (OTA installed) and when i tried to root i got a boot loop.
- I did the factory reset wiping cache and data/factory reset and still got on boot loop
- Tried to return to original condition installing by Odin the 4.4.4 stock version but got sw rev check fail .... 2 binary 1 on android screen and Fail status in Odin
- Tried to install 5.0.1 and same thing
- Installed 5.1.1 normal.
- After boot up, Clear credentials (as some other features, like lock screen) was already grayed out
- Tried to do a downgrade and Fail
- Tried to do the encrypt and decrypt the SD card, but same thing
- Tried to unlock screen with samsung find my phone, change to pattern mode, choose a pin code after pattern, reboot, put the wrong pattern on porpouse but it never ask for the pin so i could try to use google account to reset
- Tried to uncheck and check every admin
I tried pretty much everything that everyone write on this forum and internet. Nothing seems to work.
Is there any third part app to clear credentials or anyone has any idea how can i fix this F#[email protected]# problem??

When the clear credential is grayed out means there aren't any credentials to wipe. Basically, what is your problem?

In Security section some options are grayed out with this status "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage"
The Encrypt device option have only Pin and fingerprint on, the rest is disabled... I saw that if i clear the credentials it would fix this problem...

So, try to explain better your issue via posting some screenshot or writing more clearly.
Do you mean the Screen Lock Type?
-from Lock screen and security > Screen Lock Type
I think you previously encrypted your device and now you are having issues, have you tried to get access to your old files?

I´m new here, can´t post any links to my photos. Sorry if i´m not been clear, my english is not that good. I´m from Brazil. But i will try to explain more clearly here:
1 - I go to the Settings > System > Security
2 - In Security tab i choose Encrypt device (codificar dispositivo)
3 - Then i click to choose the lock screen option
4 - The 3 options are grayed out, just the PIN (senha) and Fingerprint (Impressão Digital) are enabled
I just got the phone. Brand new. Then i tried to root but got stock in boot loop, so i installed the stock rom and then i saw this problem.
I have never encrypted the phone nor the SD. I can access everything in my phone but this options. Knox are diabled to, since i tried to root and got Knox status 1.
The only way to highlight the 5 screen lock options is if i go to samsung find my phone, click in unlock screen device. Then the phone gets unlocked and i got a pop up to choose a new screen lock. But if i choose, for an example, Pattern, i draw the pattern, choose a pin code, but as soon i finish it all options get grayed again.
And in the lock screen i can draw the wrong pattern as many times as i want but i don´t got the option to use de PIN to get into device.

Oka, now i've got your problem. Try to check if all the Android Certificates are enabled. Settings > Security > Other Security Settings > View security certificates

Ok, the path is a a little bit different for me. I´m in the Security -> Trusted Credentials... Here i can see 2 tabs: System and User
In system there ar a lot of credentials and they are all enabled, in user i have none.
Just a heads up: I already tried to disable all of them one by one before. Didn´t help
Did you ever get this figured out? I have tons of certificates installed and turned on. Some are from China, Turkey and in other languages. I want to remove them all but Clear Credentials is greyed out. I'm using a Samsung S5 on v6.0.1 (not rooted).

Reactivation lock bugged?

Hi all, first post. (long time lurker)
I've got a Samsung galaxy note 3 (SM-n900 - "ha3g")
I'm attempting to root the phone. (usually takes a minute or two) but I'm struggling here.
The problem I'm facing is the samsung re-activation lock on the phone.
It's not letting me flash any updates or firmware in download mode.
Whenever I try to disable the re-activation lock on the phone security menu, it asks for a username and password, then once I put in the correct password, it puts me back into security settings and the reactivation lock is still ticked on.
I updated from 4.4.2 to 5.0 last week and I'm just trying to re-root, but I can't turn off activation lock to let me flash packages.
Anyone heard of this before? Any fixes?
I've just this second tried a factory reset, it asks for my Samsung account info, I put it in, it resets the phone.
When it comes back up, tells me that I have done an unclean reset and I need to log into my samsung account to continue.
I log in, and reactivation lock is still ticked.
Halp please. App adverts are eating my data and I need root.

Locked phone using Android Device Manager. Forgot password without a way to unlock.

Device is a SM-N916S from Samsung (Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE Exynos 5433 ver.) for anyone that's wondering. It's current state : Completely stock with no root. USB debugging disabled. No Samsung Account linked to device. Can't change password through ADM. No more guesses left for the password anymore, any more will reset the phone.
So yeah. For the past few days I've been trying to bypass Android Device Manager's remote "Lock" feature that's meant to keep your data safe from thieves. As for why? Long story short : I tried to pull a prank on my brother by remotely locking his device through ADM. I have since forgotten the password (it was a random combination of letters and numbers that I thought I could remember, but obviously not.) and trying to set a new password through Android Device Manager just gives me the infamous "Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password you entered won't be needed." error message.
Now, if this was a phone that belonged to me, I would just install a custom recovery and remove the password with a password disable zip, but unfortunately, that is not an option here. I probably forgot to mention that I CANNOT void the warranty (as in trip the KNOX counter) under ANY circumstances and would very much like to avoid a factory reset. Am I out of luck here? Or is anyone here aware of a method that can be used to bypass the ADM lock / or a way to backup data with usb debugging disabled. Thanks.

Hi, could you explain what you mean by this? Does smart switch work even when the phone is locked? And what would going back to stock firmware do? Thanks.

I don't recognize that model number but I going to assume it is an SM-P580, which is different from my T580. Having said that, the FRP lock is also known as the "Google lock" and you can turn it off so long as you know the google account login and password used by the tablet. If you can still boot and logon to the tablet, enable the developer mode in settings and make sure OEM Enable is on. That disables the FRP lock.

Yes, it's a SM-P580. I apologize for not notating that in the post. The Tab A was mine but used by my former girlfriend, I don't have her login credentials so I'm stuck unfortunately.
Thanks

T580 - Suddently got FRP Lock after over 6 months of use. Any way to recover?

Hi Guys,
I have a couple T580 tablets for my kids, and we had just gotten a new one for Christmas that I set up. I THOUGHT I had done everything correctly, but the new tablet is giving me the FRP Lock suddenly.
Any idea how that could happen? Is there any way to recover the tablet or do I have to do a original rom flash?
Thanks

Somethings not right. You don't "suddenly get an FRP lock". An FRP lock occurs only after you "factory reset" the tablet and don't know the google account login. And that is only if you hadn't enabled "OEM" in "Developer options". What makes you think it is the "FRP lock"? And if it is locked, flashing a ROM with Odin won't help. You'll still need the google account info to access the tablet.

Because this is what it says when I start the tablet...

I have a google account, and info, for the tablet. Not sure how I put it in when the boot process is blocked though...
My only thought is something happened with Magisk?

Again, unless something has changed, which I doubt, that is not the way the FRP lock works. First of all, you said nothing about having a custom ROM installed. But even if you did, the FRP lock would NOT prevent the tablet from booting. It would merely ask for your google account info when it did boot. Have you tried booting into recovery and performing a factory reset?
edit: Let me explain what FRP means. In early versions of Android, if your phone/tablet were lost or stolen, anyone could bypass your "screen lock" simply by booting into recovery mode and perfoming a Factory Reset. So Google came up with the Factory Reset Prevention lock. So if someone tried to use the Factory Reset, the lock would demand the google account login and password to access the tablet. So if you wanted to sell your tablet, you either had to enable "Developer options" and then use that to "Enable OEM", prior to reseting the tablet or put in a google account whose info you could pass to the buyer, remove your real account, and then reset.
In any case, the tablet did NOT show the message you are getting. I've bought several T580s on eBay that WERE locked, and none of them gave that message. A locked tablet would still let you install stock ROMs with Odin, but the tablet would still ask for the google account info. But the way around that can be found in this forum.

I dont think I do, its stock rom, but Magisk is installed which I believe is not a custom rom.

When I turn on the power, the screen comes on, and then says "Custom Binary blocked by FRP Lock" then the screen turns off. I have not tried a factory reset because I was hoping to find a solution without losing everything before I did something that could not be undone.
The only thing left is, I know samsung will (if detected) attempt to remove software. I wonder if it somehow tried to reset automatically and in so doing caused this.
A factory reset does not help in your case.
First option is: contact your person, who sell the phone. Because he must unlock this one in his Google settings.
The question is: how many times a wrong oe no account was insert, that the device doesn't start up till the possibility to insert the correct account.

You don't lose everything with a Factory Reset and what you do lose should be easily recovered from your google account backup. And nothing else could be done that wouldn't also cause a reset.

No one sold me this phone, I bought it new. There is no unlock option. The phone doesnt event start booting, the screen turns on says the FRP lock, then turns off.
Ab FRP Lock said, that the phone is looked via a Google account.
In a normal case, you can only unlock the device, if you insert the correct Account with password.
I don't know.. maybe you have insert 3 time wrong credentials... why the device give your not the possibility to unlock the device.
Try an complete wipe / factory reset out of the recovery menu, so that the OS can start.
The lock isn't away, but maybe you have the possibility to insert the correct data.
In Download Mode here is what I see:

Alright I just flashed the latest rom and that fixed it.
I now know a little bit about what is going on. When I got the tablet, I set it up for me. Then I discovered googles "family link" so I set it up again for my daughter.
Child accounts have FRP protection. I dont know what triggered it, but somehow it activated recently when it discovered magisk which I had installed some time back.
Now I am super irritated and over Family Link...
