It happens when ROM zip is corrupted or damaged,
Get md5 checksum of zip and compare it with parent file (on drive or android file host). If both are different then it is damaged.
Then download latest zip again.

Error executing updater binary in zip (TWRP)

I'm getting this error when trying to flash lollipop roms. I can flash Kitkat roms fine as I'm currently running xdabbeb VS982.5 1.0.0 (G3 rom), but it won't let me flash any lollipop rom. I installed twrp via the autorec program which installs 2.7.0.0 then I updated twrp within twrp with the flashable zip.
Please help
Thank you
Anyone?
Seriously no one knows? What is everyone else using that is flashing the latest 5.0.2 roms?
What am I getting this error?
Please help
Possible Fix
I've also had this problem. The only way I can seem to fix it is to also download the .md5 along with the rom itself. Just make sure its in the same folder as the rom. Everytime I have that problem with TWRP this seems to fix it. Let me know if it works for you!
Edit: Also I forgot to mention, if one isn't available to download I can help with that.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try. If there is no. Md5 what do I do then?
All you need to do if it comes to that is download an md5 checker on your computer. Just curious, what rom are you trying to flash?
I tried resurrection remix and liquid lollipop roms. I had no issues with the initial 5.0 lollipop roms so I'm not sure what changed with 5.0.2.
So the md5 checker generates the .Md5 then you just put that on the SD card with the rom?
Resurrection remix should have an md5 on the download page right below the rom itself.

Can you point me to the program to use on my computer? Do I just load the .zip file in the program to generate the .md5sum file then put both the zip and the .md5sum file on the sdcard before flashing?
Thanks

Nope, I downloaded the md5 file along with the zip and I'm still getting the same "error executing updater binary in zip".
Any other suggestion? How is no one else having this same issue? I'm using the latest version of TWRP 2.8.3.1 probably like most people. I don't understand.

Try to reflash the TWRP.. or maybe is something wrong with the zip file
Use the TWRP compiled by blastagator
Nope, still getting same error with latest twrp.
Finally got it working. I downgraded TWRP to 2.7.0.0 and the lollipop roms are flashing fine now.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi, I am having the same problem. Actually my LG G2 was stuck in boot loop with secure boot error. I used SRK tool to flash the partition files as well as TWRP recovery 2.8.6.1. I have wiped everything and there is no OS installed. I am stuck in TWRP recovery screen [cannot downgrade /upgrade]. I am using and OTG cable to flash the cm-11 custom ROM but it is giving me the same error. Can anyone help ?? It has been 10 days I am trying and my phone is dying please help...
Thanks in advance...

Hi,

Hello everyone,
I am running a D802 on stock Lollipop and installed TWRP 2.8.6.0 via AutoRec. Now I booted into recovery, wiped System and Cache and got the Error message when installing CrDroid (Marshmallow 6.0.1). Now I tried installing TWRP 3.0.2.0, which succeeded and then downloaded the twrp 2.7.0.0 zip to try that as the ROM still wouldnt install. But it wont install the older TWRP. So I am asking for help to either
1) Install TWRP 2.7.0.0
or
2) Delete the getprop lines from updater-script (after I removed them I get an error 6 so i probably removed too much?)
Thank you in advance
(Guide for Error 7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762)
EDIT: Someone said installing another Kernel might allow installation of the ROMs. Which Kernel could work for my phone?
EDIT 2: When flashing TWRP 2.7.0.0 it says "assert failed: run_program("/tmp/loki.sh")==0". So what exactly am I missing on my phone? Is Loki the MM Bootloader?
EDIT 3: Could it be that the build.prop was deleted when I wiped system? Would be weird if that was the cause, but I simply dont know..
Edit: Booted in Downloa Mode and flashed v30D KDZ with the 2014 LG Flashtool. Works with Stock ROM for now

OnePLus two with NO OS and Oneplus recovery

Hey, yesterday i tried to clean flash RR ROm (already was using it) and when i flashed the rom zip file, it showed patching system image uncondtionally , and flashing file 1 of 1 for like 30 min then i turned off my device. And from then, i have been stuck with oneplus logo, sometime twrp sometime oneplus recovery https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ck-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-2.347607/
Tried this method bcz i thought my device was bricked but the last step failed. No i again got back to twrp through fastboot method
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...-custom-recovery-root-efs-backup-more.345478/
And one more thing, when i am copyingthe rom files from pc to device, the progress bar goes well upto like 50% and then suddenly closes. But copied file size is same as of original. Is this the main problem?
file not getting copied properly?
Now i am in twrp and cant even start the flash proces as it now says E: error executing updater binary in zip ' ROM Name' error flashing zip.
What should i do now? Just want to turn on my phone, no matter if its RR ROM or OOS rom . Please help.
Also again went to oneplus recovery using that unbrick method and then tried to install OOS 2.2.1 using adb sideload method, but it stops at 47% everytime. What could be the reason? Should i go to service center tomorrow because from wednesday i will be having my exams and i want my phone up and running by tomorrow evening. Please help me . It's an emergency. Also asked for help at xda RR ROm forum but no such help yet .
And is my motherboard damaged ? No, right?

Cannot flash stock rom

I'm having serious trouble with my phone, after bad-rooting it (boot.img was meant for MPJ24.139-23.1 and I've got MPJ24.139-50) and loosing my IMEI and my Mac Address (and wifi of course) I've tried flashing the old boot file back and now It's stuck on fastboot and recovery mode. I've tried multiple things but it only seems to get worse, I can still transfer files and install them with twrp but I can't get it to flash the stock rom (doesn't find MD5 file and fails zip signature verification) nor can I recover it via RSD Lite for it refuses to recognize the phone. I simply don't know what to do anymore, please help.

Don't use TWRP to flash a stock ROM. Use (m)fastboot to flash the extracted files one by one in the right order.

Everything solved by now. I found and read the right tutorials, flashed the stock rom via mfastboot like you said, and rerooted it with the right image.
The thing is i had a Xperia with CWM and never had problems with it when flashing roms via recovery, so i thought it wouldn't be a problem on twrp...
Everything is ok now, thanks bro.
i am facing the same problem too can you please help me my model is XT1643 . NO imei no wifi please help

I've been a lot of time in that situation, i've always resolved flashing with the 3 buttons method the official rom downloaded via Firmware Finder; if it struck at 5% is because the brand version (C432) isn't the version you had originally on your phone. Force flashing a different brand version doesn't change your oem file info, so when you try to flash a ROM with different brand version, the updater does that check and stop the update at 5%.

That only means that the ROM you've flashed is 432, but if you flashed it with TWRP it doesn't reflect the real brand of your phone. That info is write in some files that aren't replaced with that kind of flash. So the original bootloader of huawei does the check on those files, not checking the current rom you're running. I think there's no way to get that info easly if you force flashed another rom, you've to remember from the stock or do some research.
Anyway i see that your phone seems to run fine now :good:
Yes, i buy dc phoenix credit, and flash full firmware from phoenix support area. After, flash full-ota firmware, and phone boot good

You simply downloaded the wrong file, it's for Zuk Z2, not for moto g4 plus aka athene.
Please be aware what rom files for which devices you download.

And your absolut sure these 5 rom files are OK and not broken? You download the correct device versions?
Which roms you have(file names)?
What twrp version(link /file name)?
You can flash twrp with twrp itself(install - > image) or with fastboot like the first time.

I hope you did not pause the download in between or it did not failed and you started from the failed point (It can be done in Firefox)
Check the md5 of the zip file.
Also try a different TWRP. What TWRP are you using right now??.......just tell what source you downloaded it from
