So it seems that Sharp put out an update to our device today. I haven't upgraded, but does anyone know what this adds? Or noticed any changes?

Hey guys,
just bought a new G4 for my family and got a new software update for the H815 Europe.
Android version: 6.0
Security patch level: 2016-08-01
No custom boot animation, no bloatware.
Unfortunately I didn't capture the official download link, so I will be hosting it until it gets mirrored
https://jogi-server.de/H81520h_00_0829.kdz
Changelog according to LG Bridge:
- Reliability of apps improved
- Usability and functionality of phone improved
Its the same Kdz as in this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/kdz-firmware-v20h-switzerland-2016-09-08-t3457824
and this is the direct link to the kdz : http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW686ET75270AOT62D322VN/H81520h_00_0829.kdz ( credit: @Al0n )
You have to cut/copy the link and paste into browser to get it to work.... why? I dont know
Oh no, you're right. I just took a look at the box of the phone and it says SWS, looks like it's a phone from switzerland.
Somehow it is impossible to get a device for your area if you don't get it directly from a service provider. I live in Germany, my first G4 was SEA and the second now SWS. But thanks for your reply!
Looks like the Brazilian 20b with an updated security patch.
I guess quadroot is not fixed in this release. because google previously said they are gonna fix it in the september securtiy update.

You are wrong. Some Users say in this release, quadrooter has been fixed.

I just got a V20 from eBay and did a factory reset on it, so it's coming up with the Setup wizard on startup.
At some point it wants to do an update and that step is not skippable. I want to check the firmware version before updating in case I have a chance at rooting.
Is there any way to get past that or check the fw version in some other way?
Thanks.

Sadly i dont think theres any root for anything after h91810p last i checked. Sorry!
Yeahh only variant thatl always be rootable is the factory unlocked US996. Sprint and T-Mobile have totally blocked any way to root on recentish updates, while the others need to rollback to the december 2016 security patch.
Aight, so a couple of weeks ago I decided to finally accept the update that I always skipped, that pesky Android OREO (8.0) update was always harassing my notification panel and I finally decided to accept it and just update. What could go wrong?
After I updated, and saw that a few features were cool, I noticed something...
My phone was not charging even though it was connected to the charger. I tried airplane mode, I tried maximum power saving mode, I tried safe mode, I turned it off and nothing happened. It just didn't want to charge; some might say that it's just a battery issue, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case.
This happened right after I updated my lovely Nougat to Oreo.
So now I need help.
Here are my phone's specs:
*Build Number: R16NW.G930PVPU6CRE7
*SE for Android status: SEPF_SM-G930P_8.0.0_0008
*Fri May 25 20:35:22 2018
*Knox version: Knox 3.1, Knox API level 25, TIMA 3.3.0
*Security Software version: MDF v3.1 Release 2, WLAN v1.0 Release 1, VPN PP-MOD v2.1 Release 1.0, ASKS v1.4 Release 180123, FIPS BoringSSL v1.2, FIPS SKC v1.7, FIPS SCrypto v1.0, SMR Apr-2018 Release 1
*Android security patch level: April 1, 2018
*Model Number: SM-G930P
*IMEI: 353562085155911
*Software version: G930PVPU6CRE7
*Hardware version: REV0.6
*Android Version: 8.0.0 Oreo (I want 7, Nougat)
*Samsung Experience version: 9.0
*Baseband version: G930PVPU6CRE7
*Kernel version: 3.18.71-13585094, [email protected] #1
My phone is a SPRINT unlocked version, 32 gb. You can check out those specs; probably understand them a lot better than I do.
The thing is, I know that I'm going to have to root it in order to install a previous Android version (downgrade). I just don't want to take any risks with flashing the wrong firmware for my specific phone; I don't want to brick it.
So, can y'all please help me with choosing the right -my phone specific- firmware and stuff?
Giving me a step-by-step on how to successfully downgrade back to my 7.0 nougat would be a blessing too.
Thank You!

I cannot believe the charging problem is caused by Oreo. Try different chargers, and new USB cables. Google the issue to see if it's related to Oreo. If you are absolutely sure this is due to Oreo, then you may change it and root is not required.
Since the phone is still on bootloader 6, you may be able to downgrade to Nougat with the same version of bootloader. Flashing firmware is a complex process and phone may be easily bricked if anything goes wrong, so you need to understand what you are doing exactly. I would suggest to read thoroughly information related to Samsung Galaxy firmware update using Odin software. I usually get s7 firmware from two sites:
https://updato.com/
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/
Switch off your phone then try charging?

Well, ironically, my mother got a new -android- phone a couple of days ago and my phone charges pretty fine with her charger. I guess it WAS a charger problem, but my charger works perfectly fine on my father's phone and not on mine; strange.
The thing is, although it can now charge, the super battery drainage is still there, and yes, I'm convinced the quick battery drainage problem came along with the Oreo update. It lasted hours and hours on Nougat, but now on Oreo it barely gets to 3 hours and 30 minutes.
