Is there a workaround yet for hotspot to work on rooted snapdragon S8s? I looked around and didn't find anything. I used SamPWND and a youtube video if that makes a difference.

Hi! I'm thinking about buying Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (international with Exynos) but I have few questions. I would be glad if someone could answer them:
1. Does the international variant of Galaxy S7 come with unlocked bootloader?
1. a) If yes, how it the bootloader protected? Can I be sure that someone can't just root my phone or modify the system somehow via ODIN? Is it well protected against physical attacks? I have no intention to root it or flash custom roms, but my bootloader has to be properly secured. I like the way how it works on Google Nexus devices. To flash anything unsigned, I have to enable OEM unlocking (which require my password) and unlock the bootloader via fastboot, which will wipe my data. Is it working the similar way on a S7 Edge? And is the system protected against downgrading?
2. When I buy the phone from my local carrier and it come with their customized software, can I just download the unbranded one from sammobile, flash it via ODIN and lose all the crap from the carrier?
3. Is it encrypted by AES 128 (which is default for Android) or did Samsung chose AES 256 (which is also supported by Android, but not enabled by default)?
4. Are there any information about Grace UX for S7? I am worried that it might be Note only UI..
6. Is there a dedicated DAC? How does it compare to something like LG V10?
7. How does fingerprint unlocking work? Do I need to press home button, take away my finger and then put finger to the button to unlock the phone via fingerprint or I can just pressed the button, keep my finger on the button and phone will unlock?
8. How is the performance? I have Nexus 6P and it is pretty slow (because of throttling Snapdragon 810, 3GB of RAM, eMMC and lot of memory leaks). Is S7 Edge Exynos faster/smoother?
9. Does the camera support [email protected] and 240FPS video recording?
10. Is there any noticeable throttling? Nexus 6P is my first phone, where throttling is noticeable even during basic use and it's awful.. Is it better on S7 Exynos?
Thanks, I am grateful for any answers.
1. I'm not sure. you have to ask other people here.
2. Technically yes. but you have to root your phone. i.e change your recovery, and then flash other rom.
3. See Answer 1.
4. See Answer 1.
6. I think it's using Exynos DAC, not dedicated. so the sound quality is not great. it's just Meh... my HTC M8 sounds better.
7. you can press the button and keep your finger there. it'll unlock.
8. S7 edge is much much faster, much smoother. but because it has touchwiz on top, it'll slow down overtime..
9. [email protected] 60fps is confirmed. Slow motion capture is available, but I'm not really sure how many FPS it is..
10. I don't noticed any throttling at all. it does get warm sometimes.. but nothing major.. and there's no noticeable throttling.
Hope this answer your questions.
I've tried Phoenix and absolutely loved it, but one of the huge issues is that NFC constantly tried to enable but never could, thus draining battery. I was wondering if there's a decent S7 Edge port that would work well on my Sprint S5 and have NFC usable. Thanks!
I guess nothing exists then? I've looked all over and haven't been able to find anything.
I'm not really sure where to post this issue.
I tried posting it on the ARtoolkit forums but there were no replies to it.
So I'm developing a simple augmented reality game using ARtoolkit. And it works on almost all android phones but on some S7 and S7 edge phones it gives a very weird result.
Here is the sample scene (slightly modified) from ARtoolkit (

Result on LG G4: (how it's suppose to be)

Result on Samsung S7: (same apk but very diff results)

I've been trying to find the cause of this issue and haven't had much luck. It works normally on LG G4, Samsung S5, Samsung S6, Samsung Note, xiomi V.
And the weird thing is that it works on some S7's. It works on the SM-G930F but it doesnt work on the SM-G930T.
It works on the S7 edge SM-G935P but doesn't work on the SM-G935F.
I thought maybe it was the processor but both the 935P and 935F have the snapdragon.
Anybody know what could cause this?
Hi all, I'm thinking about buying an s7 edge. Specifically one that was originally on sprint but has been unlocked.
Anyway, I have a few questions before I buy it.
1) has anyone experienced any overheating issues? I've read this phone is prone to overheating specifically if it has been rooted. This one isn't rooted yet but I'm thinking of rooting it once I buy it. I just don't want it to run hot
2) being that this model is unlocked and I use metro pcs, which roms would I use for it? I don't want to end up bricking it flashing the wrong rom
3) when it comes to the SD card I read it's better to have a "fast" one so ultimately it doesn't slow the phone down over time. Is this true? Is it easy to transfer apps to this SD card?
I appreciate all the help
I have been using the s7edge almost for a year and i didn't notice any overheat issues at all, but my s7edge isn't rooted.
I can tell nothing about costume ROMs cuz im using the stock one, I've tried some costume ROMs but there's always issues in costume ROMs, even the stock ROM has some issues, its the tragedy of all android devices.
And yes you have to get the fastest SD card, class 10 at least, its better for system performance and specially for recording high-resolution videos.
And finally, yes its not hard to move apps to SD card.

Never experienced overheating on my S7 edge 935F rooted MM with Xposed. I frequently use it for video streaming and screen mirroring / chromecast to my TV but remains cool.
On my previous Note4, it overheats during video streaming.
Will this phone have full metro PCS 4G LTE
Looking to get my first android tablet and deciding between s5e & s6. Want something to last a while. I'm used to using Nexus line phones with many custom rom well past it's official support.
S6 is much more powerful and future proof than the s5e, but noticed s5e has more custom rom builds. Is there a particular reason why the s5e has more active scene? Also is it better to get the wifi only version or carrier model with LTE?
Hi,
it all depends on your usage. If you use it just for media consumption the Tab S5e is totally fine. I bought it myself.
Wether you need the LTE version, or the WIFI only depends on where you want to use the tablet. On Amazon DE the price difference of the lte and wifi version is ~60€. If you have a contract with a lot of mobile data you can still use your phone as a hotspot. Otherwise I'd take the LTE version for more versatility.
Unless I'm mistaken, I think the custom ROMs for the S5e only work with the WiFi version, not the lte version.
I have both the s5e and s6. On average use the s5e is just as good and I can't really tell much difference from the s6. With slight exception in some games. S6 handles games I would say at most about 30% better. So I assume developing for s6 is overkill but the s5e can use a little boost. Plus it's cheaper. Just my opinion.

For most Samsung tablets going back to the original Tab S, there are many more custom ROMs for the wifi-only versions. Many LTE versions have no custom ROMs available.
I have Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S5e. The S5e is pretty good at everything except the CPU power. I have to wait a few seconds longer when installing apps. Opening apps has a slightly wait time too. I went for S5e because of the budget.
I saw a Youtube review before. The only differeces beteeen S5e and S6 are the CPU, S Pen, and HDR10 vs HDR10+ support.

What did you end up getting?
I found the S5e fine for my usage. That is media consumption , writing, browsing, video and audio editing. I even write on it with a stylus.
So many reviewers say you can't do this or that on the S5e with lower specs without even trying to use it. I don't care about specs or what most reviewer say. I care about my day to day real time usage. Yes S6 will be faster, but is 30% slower slow? No it's still damn fast.
