Hi, yesterday i tried to root my phone for the first time, i unlocked the bootloader then installed twrp recovery.
But when i was installing root, after some restarts my phone got stuck in bootloop, finally this morning i was able to reflash recovery, system and boot files with fastboot, and now my phone is working but the emui now its 4.0.
Do i have to update my emui before rooting? Or can i root now and only update the custom rom?
And if somebody is so kind to show me every step to root it correctly, i'd be very grateful.
Thanks.
PS: I'm sorry, i didnt saw the Q&A section, and i don't know how to delete this thread

Just having same, but on CyanogenOS... Rooted with Kingroot, tried to replace kingroot with SuperSU with SuperSU-ME app and now it's stuck on Cyanogen logo...
Same **** here. I had to poweroff the phone using recovery option. I guess flashing again the signed CyanogenOS zip will fix this... Or at least hope so
Hi, I had the same problem. Someone managed to solve? I need to recover data because I can not lose them.
Hi,
Can anyone help me, please?
I used to have the version 16s installed on my phone but after the forced update, got the official 17s version installed.
Lost root access and got a lot of chinese apps installed.
Now I can't root my phone anymore. I've tried a a lot of methods/twrps and can't get the phone to boot to twrp recovery.
After flashing the recovery.img, phone only reboot again to the chinese rom.
From what I'm reading on a xda topic, it seems the same as this guy:

Thanks for the reply. My phone used to be rooted, too (Lollipop), but became unrooted during an unwanted OTA update and can not be re-rooted ever since (Marshmallow). None of the King/o/root/etc. apps did the job over ADB from a pc or installed on my phone. Flashing supersu zip from TWRP got my phone into a bootloop last night from which I could only get out by re-locking the bootloader and installing a stock ROM. The bloody 17v update notice keep popping up and I have no choice but to let it install sooner or later. If I ever manage to re-root my device, I'll try your method.

Thank you for your reply, it is CN version.
I was able to root the phone again, by doing fastboot commands manually.
flash recovery, flash misc
After that, I was able to enter recovery mode.
For some reason I can't root my Huawei P8. It currently running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Before that it was running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and it was rooted. I've tried many times but was unsuccessful. The bootloader is unlocked (In the fastboot screen it said phone locked in red text). I flashed Twrp recovery install SuperSu but no root. Have anybody experienced this kind of issue? Any threads or site that can help me fix this and get my phone rooted? Thanks in advance.
Btw current build version is GRA-UL00C636B361
there should be a method with 2 zip file to flash in two steps (one right after another restart), but it was for the p8 lite, I do not know your model
you need kernel and last twrp....follow this instrction:

Just installed Nougat stock ROM for my S7 Edge with ODIN, and trying to root.
I installed TWRP latest version 3.01 and immediately after installed supersu 2.79 SR3 from TWRP.
At first I could not boot the phone because it kept saying I used the wrong PIN code for boot. I reflashed stock rom and was able to boot again (same PIN) - disabled PIN on boot, and reflashed TWRP and supersu, but it keeps hanging at the Samsung Logo.
Flashing stock rom solves it, but I still want to root it..
What am I doing wrong?
currently there is no reliable root for nouget roms. It is being worked on.

Thanks for replying.
In this case - even if the goal is to root - it seems the problem is with TWRP.. Even if I do not root, but just install TWRP, the neverending bootlogo shows up..
Nougat OS has been changed that all the old rooting and twrp need to be updated.
It will be a while till developers can modify the os to allow changes.
Have posted the same question in the TWRP S7 thread that I did not see before posting this one - sorry
I had a rooted p9 Lite VNS-L31.
I updated my phone and after the update the root was gone. I tried rerooting and got as far as installing TWRP recovery but when typing "adb reboot recovery" in the console my phone got stuck in bootloop. I got it out of bootloop but I still want to root my phone or install the official rom.
I am kind of scared to do anything like that so if someone could tell me what had gone wrong and/or tell me how I can install a working rom that would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

having the same issue, I think no one is able to help with this
It's possible you have installed the wrong TWRP for your software version. If you are on Marshmallow, make sure you install TWRP for Marshmallow. If on Nougat, install TWRP for Nougat.
If you installed the correct TWRP, then I'm not sure what the issue is, sorry.
