Just wondering, just gave this tablet, Tab A 2017 model non-4G (SM-T380) as a gift to a family member, and noticed that the backlight on the capacitive touch keys don't light up, is that normal? Tried different settings and can't get them to work.
Perhaps they don't light up?
Looking for others input please!
They do not light up.

Hi there, just got my K-jam.
The phone buttons light up, and the keyboard, but I was wondering if the buttons above the phone buttons (the smart / menu buttons) should light up also, they have cut outs but it does not light (on mine any how ;-) )
any comments would be great.
come on guys - you are reading this, and no one is posting - surely one of you has a wizard
No, they do not light up. They are NOT cut outs, but rather silk-screen printings.
I just got a Titan with build 28002 and the keyboard doesn't light up and I can't find a setting for it. Do Titan's have a backlit keyboard or not?
They do...although sometimes you have to press a key in order for it to come on. I have never investigated the settings.
I just looked at a video on YouTube and saw someone slide the keyboard and lights came on the keyboard. What's up with this, why won't mine? It's for a friend and they said they don't want it without a backlit keyboard.
there is an option in settings for the keyboard light sensor to turn on.
then go into a dark closet and slide the keyboard out, and it should light up
Alright, I found it. It was in personal settings.
Does anyone know if it's possible to adjust the delay before the capacitive buttons turn off?
The issue I'm having is while using the phone in the dark. The buttons light up and a couple seconds later they turn off. Finding the right button in the dark is a pain.
The only way to get the buttons to light up again is by touching the screen.
Thanks.
Came here looking for the same info. There is at least one thread in the captivate forum asking the same thing, so it looks like it's a problem for the whole galaxy line. It does not appear to be adjustable in the current firmware. I'm really hoping for a fix from Samsung or one of the homebrew developers soon.
Hey guys,
Just received my Google Play Edition Galaxy S4, and one of the first things I notice is that the capacitive button (Menu and Back) timeout is set to approx 1-2 seconds.
This is the case with the regular (international) version of the Galaxy S4 as well, but in the regular version you can easily disable the key light timeout under Display -> Touch key light duration. I cannot however find a setting to keep the buttons lit (with the screen) in the Google Play Edition S4.
The questions:
Could a third party app fix this problem? Are there such apps available already? Would root be necessary?
Buying this device I had no intentions of rooting and loading a custom ROM onto it, but this key light thing is going to bug me no end so I might have to reconsider.
I'm sorry if the answer is obvious and I'm just a blind fool, or if the question has been asked and answered before. I did a few searches but could not find anything relevant to the i9505G.
Cheers!

BUMP.
I've enabled the software navigation bar on the Google Edition on a US AT&T S4,
The only problem is that the capacitive lights come on when I press home/back/recent apps software keys.
Is there any way to modify settings of the light duration?
Help greatly appreciated
Keeping capacitive buttons lit in Google Edition S4 [i9505G]
BUMP
This is so annoying. How could Google even think about shipping the Google Edition with this BUG?
Such a flaw is in no way excusable. You really have to be not testing Google Edition S4 to not see this.
Any chance of a solution here?
Anybody sort this out??
Capacitive light app for GE Galaxy S4
For control of the Capacitive lights on the Google Edition Galaxy S4 go to the link below to get the app. It works great!

Hi s5 folks. Repairing an s5 for a friend. Bought the new LCD and didgitizer, but the capacitive buttons do not seem to be working. I noticed that the thin black cables were halved (the ones that wrap onto the front around the lights for the buttons)... Did they hold the magical powers of capacitive touch or were they simple the power for the lights?.
