This happened to me too after a while. Some people say to clear the cameras storage/cach, but this didn't work for me.
Here's what worked for me:
- Disable moto camera app
- Install Open Camera

I switched to the Pixel Experience rom, that fixed my camera issue.
didnt work open camera can not find the camera , did you do anything else ? step by step maybe ?
Did you root with SuperSU? That always gave me camera problems. Switched to Magisk and haven't had a problem

Hi all,
Like the Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL), Adoptable Storage is disabled by Asus on the Zenfone Selfie (ZD551KL).
It has been confirmed by several owners on the net -and I too- and by checking Asus' Android Marshmallow Stock ROM changelog.
I have the Zenfone Selfie and I do really need Adoptable Storage. I saw some people tell it may be possible to enable it back (with adb, etc), but I dont know if it really works.
Here are the guides I've found (ordered by most promising link first):
http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-79993-1-1.html
http://www.zenfonehelp.com/2016/06/asus-zenfone-sdcard-to-adoptable-storage.html
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg4/comme..._your_lg_g4_stock_no/?st=iqoyswji&sh=ce67ad13
http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-69149-2-1.html
Can someone who upgraded their Zenfone Selfie (ZD551KL) to Android Marshmallow confirm if they managed to get Adoptable Storage back with one of these guides ?
Delete this comment please.
I did this on my ZE500KL and is working:
https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=NmRT5e6zlMA
Thanks for the reply, but that's still don't confirm for the Zenfone Selfie (ZD551KL).
By the way, you've confirmed it for the Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL, which I also have and will try on it
Also, how did you root your ZE500KL's Marshmallow Stock ROM ?

By the way, are you sure your phone is truely rooted and that apps needing root really works ?
Because in the official SuperSU page on XDA I put up here, the developpers says your phone must already be rooted before flashing SuperSU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1538053
Edit: Your phone may not be rooted, because another member got a problem when he "rooted" his phone the same way you did: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67975226&postcount=16
He got a problem with BusyBox, does yours works perfectly ?

Is rooted. SuperSu is rooting your phone when you flash it, all what you need is the bootloader to be unlocked. The root works fine for me, the only problem is that I need to enable it in ASUS Auto Start Manager or it will not start at boot and will not be able to grand permissions I used the SuperSu from here and everything is working.

I also got the same confirmation from the other member, everything's working now.
I also wouldn't have known for ASUS' Auto Start Manager, Thanks !
The problem was that he used a beta version of SuperSU, while telleing others to also use it
Although, I still find SuperSU's official XDA page warning -aka being root before flashing SuperSU- a bit strange though...

I think that warning is for an old SuperSU when the phone was new or something like that. I'm glad that is working
Try Root Essentials
I haven't tried this.
but try it!
Root Essentials

★Adoptable Storage★
Adoptable Storage is a new feature Google introduced in Android Marshmallow. It can "adopt" your SD card and extend your internal storage. Some manufacturers removed this partition feature; this app brings back support for Adoptable Storage on devices like the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S5, Galaxy J5, LG G5, G4, Huawei G Play and more.

Hey Friends,
My camera is not starting just showing error "Camera Unable to start. If this happens again please power off your phone and restart. and in open camera its showing camera is busy.
I tried doing all things such as clear catch, master reset even installed a custom rom still the same issue in stock and custom rom.
Any help would be great.
Getting same thing, but not immediately after unlock, worked fine till today, not sure whats up gonna try some things if i fix it ill let you know.
---------- Post added at 01:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------
Fixed it by flashing POTTER_NPN25.137-33_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip via RSD Lite, lemme know if you need any of those.
Any one has this issue, i have unlock the boot loader and rooted using super su, from there the camera broken. this is Indian version.
can anyone suggest to solve this please?
The camera is fixed in custom Roms and kernels. I run LOS and Elementalv6 with no issues
Is the issue will solve if i flash this?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/stock-debloated-deodexed-t3619972
thanks for the quick reply
Yes clean flash the Debloated Rom from that link and you will have your Camera back as it is not a hardware problem!!
Thanks everyone, really got answers as requested. It works, flashed superSu also, got stock debtoted rooted rom, that's what I want.
But ofcourse it is stock kernel.

Hello guys,
I hope some pro reads this and knows exactly what to do, to fix my problem.
When I installed the new Hyper-Rom version 4 with my data from version 3, the result was that the system wasn't rooted anymore.
To that point the stock Samsung Camera app (camera 9.0.05.29 .apk) works though...
But then, when I root the device maunally via TWRP with Magisk19.zip, the camera app doesn't start up anymore.
I open it, the app starts and I see the camera shutter/galery button/lense switch, but the rest is black and then after 5 seconds the app closes.
"Open Camera" app from playstore works fine all the time, but the Samsung Camera app stops to work after rooting device manually.
Hope for help.
Thank you for your attention and helpfulness.

Hello AndrOmega,
thank you very much for replying.
Hmm that's strange. It always worked when I used other roms with root.
The Open Camera App is ok, but I really loved the Samsung Camera App
Maybe there is still a way to fix this
I just got a Galaxy J5 2015 for free from my friend.
This has to be a first Samsung device I'll be using.
So how do I unlock the bootloader?:silly:

Well you have to watch videos on YouTube to prevent brick your phone!
For twrp installing:use the latest version of twrp and don't forget that untick auto restart at odin
When it passed on odin unplug your phone from pc anf get out your battery and after 5sec put it in.and try to go to twrp by volume up+home+power
Good luck

The problem occurred after unlocking. And the toast notification showed, "Unable to open camera, camera is being used by another application". (Sorry I couldn't grab an screenshot. I thought it was hardware side problem but I checked it. Even if was the rare camera issue then the front camera should work. The flashlight isn't working too,)
I forgot to backup the stock ROM and lost it on ROM installation but after installing ROMs, same issue. I tried 3 ROMs, A8 Port, LineageOS 16 and currently on EvoX.
Tried different camera apps , tried WhatsApp camera also, no luck..
Even CPU-Z isn't recognising the Camera.
The device model is J53gxx.
I flashed TWRP exactly as you said.

My advice would be flash stock ROM through Odin and start all over again.
Boot stock rom and make sure camera and flashlight works, then enable oem unlocking and USB debugging and install twrp and a new rom.
If that doesn't solve the issue then it may be hardware related.
Also you could get a log of trying to open camera app and post it here.
