Motorola update , stuck at TWRP. Will tip for help! - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
to make a long story short, my phone is stuck at the TWRP screen, since today I installed the new Motorola update to Nougat. After researching the problem some threads suggested to delete the Motorola update file, but I cannot find this file or what its name is?
Any help appreciated and willing to tip to help me restore phone urgently as need it to go out.
Longer story:
My friend helped me root the phone in the first place because after about every 2 months of usage it would come to a crawl it was so slow. And he did warn me not to install updates, but I mistakenly thought that meant major updates not releases. So yesterday the first time I installed the update, the phone got stuck at TWRP. I couldnt find any way to revive the phone, so I went through the process of using Recovery bootloader to factory reset. Reinstalled all my apps, configured everything, which takes hours as i'm very particular about my setup. And then ran root checker which said "your phone is NOT rooted". So my friend had suggested once its backup and running to install the update as it would be ok. Well I did and it is isnt. It's stuck back at TWRP again.

at least you are getting something OTA
Ditto
Unfortunately, I get the same thing. I was rooted, but I unrooted (not quite as thoroughly as you did, as I only used the "Unroot" option, but we got the same results). Wonder if it is something wrong with the update...

Did you change ANYTHING when rooted? Did you freeze, rename, modify or delete ANY of the files in the original ROM in any way, shape or form?
Same thing here
When I bought this device 3 weeks ago, I rooted it with z4root. Not too long after an update disabled z4root on the tablet.
I thought no big deal, but then today comes and I the OTA update won't work.
Anyone more experienced than me have any ideas of how to get this update applied properly?
Me too. Update failed to install. Not sure why. I have also tried unrooting.

I'm confused, if I froze an application, didn't unfreeze it but did a factory reset...wouldn't that resolve the issue?
ok so i woke up this morning and my a500 notified me the there was an update available so as you can imagine I was very happy to finally have this, so i updated and when it was done it said update successuful but when I checked it still said 3.01......WTF
Not rooted ever..
Those interested in getting back their OTA, properly backing up their original ROMS or restoring them, please follow the tutorials in this thread:
Going back to stock TUTORIAL
Be helpful and provide your firmware if you have a backup so we can build a database for those who don't.
Be sure to report what is working and what is not working for you once you've tried the tutorials!
Unlike the 14 threads on these matter I take the responsibility as OP to upgrade my original post as firmwares and new info becomes available.
Let's create a focused troubleshooting and tutorial thread,
Thanks.
I'm rooted via gingerbreak and the update worked fine while still rooted. It did break root. Just had to re-apply gingerbreak and all is good, back to root with latest update.
gingerbreak worked with official 3.1 ?
it didn't work with 'leaked' 3.1 ?
OTA
Ok after long night and hours of research i found out a lot.
1 if you have modded ad hoc in wpa_supplicant file recover the original file
2 if you have modded the phone.apk and telephoneyprovider.apk to save battery this is the reason why you won't get the update.
i put these files back and instantly got an update, i mean the exact second i set those back
i can't believe this my updates keep failing to install. FING POS i tried everything, factory reset
i have tried everything, even factory reset, it fails while installing after reboot
acer support are a bunch of retards, they don't even know they sell tablets????????
need help i can't upgrade, it fails every time
does anyone know where the install logs are
the log is \cache\recovery\last-log
Oklahoma City, OK noon CST
First attempt failed:
Changed the wpa_supplicant back to original and all went smooth the second time
I never changed anything and it failed.
**Edit: I rebooted my devices and left it completely alone after unzip and it rebooted into recovery mode and seems to be installing **
I had the same problem, It was pretty disheartening.... but I unrooted my device, re-booted and tried again and SUCCESS!!!
But now I can't get it to re-root using gingerbreak... HELP!
SUCCESS!
Ok. I got OTA update 4.010.08 (122.71 MB) this morning. It failed.
So I unrooted my device. Re-started it and tried again... SUCCESS!
I tried using Gingerbreak to root it again. FAIL!
So I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228
SUCCESS!
Hope this helps those of you who are having problems.
No need to unroot nor go to stock.
I had the same issues. Then I simply used Acer Recovery to install stock recovery and everything worked fine.
Ceger
Acer Recovery?
Did Acer Recovery come with the tablet?
I tried the update numerous times over the last 4 days. Most of the time the download would fail, which I put down to my slow internet connection and overloaded Acer servers. But about 5 times it would finish downloading and then error out on install with a message about the update being invalid. I tried rebooting several times during this process. I have never rooted the tablet and only have a few apps installed as it was a recent purchase.
Finally it worked when I ejected the external SD card and rebooted. It may be a coincidence, but anyone else who gets the "invalid update" warning during install on an unrooted device may wish to try this prior to the download/install.

Failed update to OTA Kitkat

Hello,
New to xda-developer forum, but was hoping I could get some help.
I have a Droid Razr M, that has had the boot loader unlocked, but not rooted anymore, after getting an update prior to kitkat. If I remember correctly I was able to get previous updates with no issues with the boot loader unlocked. Today I heard that kitkat was out for my device, so I went into settings to check for a system update and I was offered to update to 4.4.2 (Kitkat). So I went ahead and did it.
However, the problems lies now that It is stick in a boot loop, with the "WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED" message that I always got after unlocking it. I noticed after the update the boot was taking a really like time, but then I noticed it would **** off and god right back to that same message. Knew something wasn't right, Itll shut down and reboot the that screen multiple times. I first tried clearing the cache partition. Nothing. Tried resetting/wiping, that also didnt fix it.
Some help would be greatly appreciated here.
If you need more information I can try my best.
Thank you!
So I just flashed back to stock 4.0.4 ROM with RDS Lite. Trying the OTA Kitkat update again, and now its just stuck at a black screen. I had it plugged into the charger as it was updating so its not dead. I cannot get it to reboot.

[Q] Help needed - Bootloop after Kies update to lollipop

Two days ago i tried to update my SGS5 (SM-G900F) with Kies to Android 5.0.
The phone has newver been rooted.
That is supposed to pretty straight forward, but after the update i havnt been able to use it.
After each boot it gets me to the logon screen, where i just have enough time to press my code but then it restarts over and over.
So i thougt something might went wrong in the process and used Odin 3.09 to flash the NEE (Nordic/Danish) version from Sammobile manually.
Unfortunately this didnt change a thing and the bootloop is still there.
From the short time where i gain access to my lock screen i see my old lock screen background, but the Font and setup has changed, so i guess it runs Android 5.0 now.
I would appreciate any help to this matter, since i'm growing at bit desperate on this now.
II would prefer not to root it, but if thats the solution then its fine by me.
I should be able to use ADB with the right guide, but havnt used it since the HTC Magic
Well found a solution.
Installed the Team Win Recovery Project and then did a full wipe (VolUp+home+Power under reboot).
So lost everything on the phone, but it works
I was lucky that i did a backup last weekend of images/videos last weekend. Phew....

Need help. Boot loop on J320P that was a friends.

Hey everybody, I need help. I have a J320P that is stuck in a boot loop, when it was found like this by my friend they came to me and asked if I could help. I have no information on how this happened other than they took a shower and when they came back it was like this. I have tried installing stock firmware 3 times to no luck. I might have an sd card somewhere with the backup for this phone but finding it would take some time so in the mean time I am turning to the forums. If anyone could help that would be amazing. I will provide more information and answer questions as they come.
Steps I have taken:
1. dirty flash of stock latest firmware
1. wiping the phone completely
2. Installing latest stock firmware
3. Still bootlooped
Not solved
So after triple wiping through TWRP and installing the stock firmware again it was still looping so i left to run to the store quickly and when I returned I tried powering it on and it loaded normally and I am still setting it back up.
Leaving the original comment. After coming home from work my friend said it had started doing it again, and it is. This time there was no root and no system anything messed with, does this mean there is a hardware problem?

Starting Android

Hi Everyone,
I have been on a rooted Android 10 build for the past 2 years, but found the battery was starting to drain quickly, so decided to upgrade to the latest version 11.
I have rooted phones many times, however im a bit stummped.
Initially when i rooted by flashing with Odin, my patched AP file, it would boot loop the start screen, however today i have got further and it boots to "android starting", but after 3 hours it hasnt moved from that point. I cant imagine this is normal\expected? I have tried to reflash a few times and wiped\factory reset before hand, using the main CSC instead of home_csc, but still the same result.
Any ideas? Am i missing something?
Cheers!
If anyone wants to reply with a potential fix for others, then please do, however for now i have managed to obtain root using a method someone else did on XDA.
Basically, i managed to install and run TWRP, then flashed a kernel in that. Now have an up to date phone with root.
Thanks for anyone who looks at this however.
