My fingerprint scanner doesn't work while plugged in, is there any reason or explanation for this? I'm using a third-party charger, and will try my official one when I get home, but it doesn't make much sense to me and I'd like to get an explanation as to why this happens, if anyone has one
Most likely it is because you're using a third party charger.
Or your electrical connection isn't stable and the current is fluctuating. Try your original charger at this place and that third party charger at your home to see if the issue persists.

It could be the electrical connection, thinking about it. It mainly happens in one room. The charger itself is something like an APlus from Amazon, it seems identical to the original DASH charger

It turns out it was neither of those things, it only affects me with my Sandstone case on the phone for some reason?

What ROM are you on ? Is it oreo? Have you updated your firmware ?
This has been known to cause issues with the fingerprint reader and the camera in the past..
If it's not that then I'd perhaps say it's the ROM, do you have any wave gestures or anything else active which could impact it ?
The charger, case or where you are should make no difference.

The ROM IS Oreo, and the FW is updated, but I had the problem all the way back to stock Nougat. I just now thought to ask about it because it's so strange that those are the conditions. I'm sitting on my couch right now with the charger plugged in and the case on and the FP is working fine, but the second I take it into my friend's house, I have to either not be charging it or remove the case. I thought maybe the case was causing EMI by bouncing the EM back, which is created because of my friend's wiring, but that feels far fetched. It's the only explanation I can think of, though

So my main complaint about the nexus 1 was the crazy digitizer. I am sitting here playing pocket legends and all of a sudden my screen starts going crazy just like on the nexus 1. I ran screen test toolkit and on the trace test i got sharp vertical lines that shot out from where my finger was tracing. I did have the phone plugged in at the time and since unplugging it seems to have gone away but the is reason enough to concern. Anyone else had this issue? May just take my phone back and get a replacement just in case.
Update: as much as I feel like a bonehead for admitting this I found the culprit. Apparently the charger i was using is not playing nice with the nexus s. It is the same charger i use for my nexus 1 an apparently it has a different power output that the nexus s doesn't like very much. Hope my mistake will help others.
I tried charging over USB at a friend's house on his dinosaur iMac, the screen started acting completely screwy as well.

i think you need to check other phones. as far as i know charging from usb less amp than the wall. so it shouldnt show any weird calibration issues or flicker. double check man

Yes, max amp from USB is 0.5A. Typical output for smartphone chargers is 1A. But this shouldnt be a problem, and also less amp means longer batterylife on the long run cause it doesnt stresses battery as much.

I think it's because the touchscreen on the NS seems to be more sensitive than most phones (I can get it to register input without even touching the screen sometimes) that it gets disrupted by other sources of electrical conductivity... such as the charger. Mine is ok, never really tried with the charger plugged in though. I ran multitouch visible test and I was satisfied with the tracking, it's the same if not better than the Vibrant's, which can handle 5 simultaneous inputs.
I just got my charger yesterday and it doesn't seem to charge properly. I put it on and it'll charge maybe 10% then stop. Take it off and put it back on the charger and it won't start charging unless I unplug the cable from the back of the orb and plug it back in. This is very inconvenient and I'm wondering if the orb just sucks or is it just mine? Please give me input if you have the official wireless charging orb.
Also I've only tried on the 2 latest releases of Paranoid android rom with their kernel as well as Faux latest one. Gonna flash something closer to stock and let it run over night and see what happens

Forget it. Just use the standard usb cable to charge. It's a waste of $70. It's a nice accessory to have but what the heck.

I dont have this issue, knock on wood. Mine charges to 99%, then slowly to 100% and then stops the LED, I turn the screen on to see the % and its charging again.
I am not sure how the LED's are displayed, does the LED off mean its done charging and is on battery now?
In either case, Once I see its at 100% and the LED is off, i remove it from the orb, it soon drops to 99%, 98% but stabilizes.
Ya I don't have that issue , mine charges to 100 then stops drops down to 98 then starts charging agn to 100... If I was u I would install factory IMG get it 100% stock and see what happens if u get same results , ID send in for warranty , i like the orb but hate how its not recognized as a charging dock, Romanbb ( aokp) is writing code to change this tho
I THINK ! Franco kernel causes a extra wake lock but not sure actually testing now with stock kernel will test Franco agn tomorrow. only issue I'm having but it works either way

Ive had no issues with two phones and 3 of these chargers (one nekkid, another in a case) but everything about my setup is bone-stock.

I had the same issue until some bright person told me that the wall plug was a different ampage than the wall plug that came with the N4. 1.2 amps as opposed to 1.8. This made the difference to the problem you are having for me. What are you using in the socket?
Unfortunately the problem I am having now with this Orb (and another Qi wireless charger that I purchased as I thought the Orb was faulty) is that the N4 will turn off n the middle of the night. Not good when you are relying on the alarm clock!!!
In using the cable and plug that orb came with. Which are you using? The cable and plug that the phone came with? And that's fixed your issue except for the turning off?

I had the SAME exact thing happen! One day I thought, hey, let's switch the charging puck and see if it helps, sure enough it did, and I haven't had the problem since. So, try another puck, the one included with the Orb could be defective, like mine was.

Same thing happened to me recently. It was working, but now mine will charge about 10% and then stop. The only way to get it working again is to reset the power on it either by unplugging the plug or the usb cable. By charging puck, you mean the black plug that connects to the outlet and the other end of the usb cable?

Yeah, you probably have several lying around too, like I did, so just try one until you find one that does the trick.

Thanks, I'll try it out. Pretty ****ty of Google to bundle a defective plug with the wireless charger. I was about to try to RMA mine.

Having the same issue when wireless charging suddenly stops.
Taking the phone from the charger and putting it back restores charging for a while.
The issue didn't happen earlier, but began from certain time
so I found my little sister plugging and unpluging the charger repeatedly, well she's a child I can't blame she was playing,but I can blame my stupidity for leaving my phone with her,luckily the charger wasn't connected to the wall so there was no electricity,anyway the phone charges and everything, but I can see 2 aligned marks on the rubber that covers the port,so what else might have happened? bent port?? is the port inside the phone bendable or tough?
Makes me cringe thinking about it ? if everything is still working though it's probably fine but only time will tell if the port fails. If you use wireless charger that will cut down the amount of times you have to plug it in. Before wireless charging I would use charger and ota daily on my Samsung devices and never had a port fail.

thank you, well after this accident I will definitely get a wireless charger, but I have a question what do mean by 'time will tell if the port fails' I mean if it got damaged the phone wouldn't charge at all right? another question if any thing bad happened to the port would there be any possibility that It still charges however affect battery life cause it to drain fast for an example?
Just saying port couldve got minimal damage and a problem could arise downdown the road. Ex something bent that event breaks after multiple uses. I highly doubt this will happen just an example. All newer phones have safeguards overcharging, undervolting, etc so all you internals are fine especially with the charger being unplugged from the wall. Don't over think it if the phone starts acting up find an excuse to get a warranty replacement

OK I got it, unfortunately I can't get a replacement as the 14 days are over but I hope that no harm was done, thank you.
Has anyone else been shocked while trying to unlock the phone with fingerprint while the phone is changing.
It's not painful but you can definitely feel it and I don't really think it is good for the phone.

Edit: maybe there's something wrong with your protective earth. Some wrong potential? Check your current charger/cable on another power socket/place. Any other charger tested?

PS: There is no "protective earthing" in those chargers, they should be all double insulated (Class II).

I wasn't using the turbo charger, it was one I had from my old phone, the cable was something I got separate too. It doesn't always seem to happen, mostly after I walk around the office a bit. The static might be from me but I really don't think I should be experiencing a shock as hard as I do from the phone. It might be the cable though because I don't have this issue at home, then again I don't have carpet at home either.
If is static then it still discharges through the charger to the ground and it might damage the phone.
So basically, the phone randomly stopped charging and when i had picked it up to see why it wasn't charging, it was really hot to the touch towards the top of the phone. Not sure what is going on. Tried different cables. Does the same thing when the phone is powered off. I just ordered a new Usb-C jack to replace the phone inside the phone. Maybe shorting of some sort... Any ideas?
Happened with me once, in my case it was draining after putting a charger. So, I let it discharged fully until it got switched off & then put a charger. It started charging normally.

Did you try with another adapter? Because then we can rule out the possibility of a short circuit.
And, you mean more hot then usual? Because it's a 2A charger it's sure to heat up the phone.
One more thing, if it's a short then there are possibilities of the surge protector getting burnt which is inside you phone. In that case, either, you'll have to replace the entire charging circuit board or maybe just the surge protector (It varies form brand to brand. Hope Zuk has a replaceable surge protector)

Are you using a custom rom? Because once I was using Nuclearom i dont know what happened but after sometime I also got the same problem. So I Just flashed a different rom ( Mokee) and after that everything was fine.

I was on I believe cm13 nightlies. Unfortunately my phone is dead and can't charge/turn on. So I can't flash anything.

The high voltage protector on your circuit board must have been damaged. Take it to a authorized personnel and get it replaced. Nothing else stands a chance and it cannot happen because of a software issue. If it was a software issue then it would be more like there won't be any indication that it's charging and battery percentage shown would be stuck but still the phone's battery will be charging and will stay powered on.

No, no! Your USB Type-C port will be attached to a separate circuit board. The board may also include a mic and maybe a speaker too. So there will be a switch just like a MCB for your house, which in case of high voltage will get get burnt and hence break the circuit. Now just replace that board. Or some manufacturers' design allows just the surge protector to be replaced (Which will save you a lot of bucks).

Yeah! But before you replace you can ask the technician to examine the board once. Just cross checking (It does no harm)

Have an old usbc charging port.. swicthed it but no luck with that. Had battery replaced..but still no luck..
Only could think about the motherboard..but the reason i require tk power up the phone now is for getti g the pictures off the phone...about 25 gb of pictures....

Big Billion on Flipkart And Great Indian Sale on Amazon are on so i recommend you u to change your phone to poco f1.
There might be the problem with the port of mobile due to which it wont be able to charge up, or there can be some issues with battery as well.
