What nandroid backup contain? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Does it contain the full rom + installed apps + media ( audio, images, video ) + other data ( calendar, sms, contacts etc.. ) ?? I just took a backup via TWRP of BOOT, SYSTEM, and DATA(excl Storage). Is it ok? What does excl storage mean? TWRP said << Backups of Data do not include an files in internal storage such as pictures or downloads.. So i have to backup them manually?? Why? **** I just read that i doesnt contain internal storage.. So this question solved. ****
Can i restore nandroid to a newer OOS version? For example if i have 4.5.14 nandroid and then i install 4.5.15 can i restore the nandroid or not?
And lastly, how can i take full backup, if i want install OREO?
What is better, nandroid via TWRP or backup with Titanium?

[Q] Custom rom?

every time civato update his rom a have to do all this procedure : -wipe all , factory reset , format and flexrom and if I update from FLEXREAPER R14 to FLEXREAPER RF1 i going to lose all my data??? (sorry for my bad english)
Use a backup program for your apps and backup to external sd card, backup downloaded data to external sd card.
Keeps all your data safe and intact.....easy peasy.

I use titanium backup
Why aren't you doing a Nandroid backup? That's by far the most convenient way to restore user data including all setup and homescreen settings. This is also the method Civato is recommending.
Such a nandroid backup is a backup performed with your recovery. Just do first a full backup, then do a full wipe and flash the ROM. After doing the start-up installations (wifi, google account), you are booting again into recovery. Then you are doing an advanced restore selecting user data (/data) only to be restored (resoring system and others would replace the new ROM by the old one). Then you get back all your apps and settings.

[Q] When switching roms or restoring backups, how do you handle sdcard?

Let's assume you want to do a clean restore of an older backup. Nandroid backups will not backup /sdcard data, so what if you want a clean sdcard aswell? Just always leave it as it is?

[Q] Nandroid backups and files on internal storage

Hi,
Suppose I do a nandroid backup of my ROM, I want to know if files such as music, photos and such are backed up too. If I delete them/format the internal storage, and restore the nandroid (of course I'll backup the nandroid backup on the computer first ), will those files be restored too?

Nope. Check how big your Nandroid backup is..
It backs up your system settings + rom + data (messages, call logs, etc). Not your /sdcard.

Backup system data like contacts and photos?

I know titanium backup is great for user apps. But what about system data like contacts, photos and SMS which isn't synced to a Google account. What's the best way to backup and restore these for installing a custom rom.

You can stock your all your rom
on sd external
by a personalised location stock in
nandroid backup
Because after wipe all data
no change on sd external
I hope that's ur wish

Changing Roms

Hi all,
When I visit XDA I always notice a new ROM for the moto g4 plus. I immediately wanted to try them but whenever I install a ROM I will lose all the data. Sometimes I try to dirtly flash the ROM but I doesn't work most of the time. My question is how can I backup most of my data so I can use it on the new ROM?
There is 3rd option for backup in TWRP, It will Backup your current ROM and Installed apps and their data only, but not your photos/videos or any personal data....
And now read this carefully - if you are wiping partitions read their name before wiping, dont wipe internal memory, external memory or OTG... Wiping them will erase everything on your phone or pendrive(if connected), wipe only those partitions whose backup you have made ( delvik-cache, cache, data, system )
Note again- don't wipe SDcard partitions, it will erase your personal data....
For safety it's better to copy your personal data to PC or Computer....
I hope you read my ENGLISH carefully.....

Yes...
If you wipe DATA and install ROM then you will have to install all apps again... But when you restore Backed ROM then everything will be same as when you backed that...
You can save your app and data with titanium backup, it can help too.
What I do is
Backup ur apps using titanium backup
Now flash a new ROM , wiping cache , dalvic cache, system, data..
Now restore all ur apps using titanium backup pro ( crack titanium backup using lucky patcher)
Why I m saying to use pro version because you don't need to tap install on every app, it automatically installs WITH DATA ..it also doesn't take much time..
So finally you have ur apps with data !
Note : don't wipe internal storage while flashing new ROM ..so ur media files will not be lost
Hope this helps!
I think you mean "buy" titanium backup pro?
