I flashed AOSP Extended yesterday everything went well, but me not thinking about it ended up flashing the Clark Simple Kernel and it flashed successfully and I rebooted it showed the Motorola logo it vibrated the screen went black and it did the same thing again it wasn't going to reboot. I was able to go into TWRP recovery by pressing the power and volume down I went to into the wipe section did the swipe to factory reset but it just froze and ended up continuously vibrating for a few seconds and it rebooted again. I then went to into my backups and restored AICP ROM but almost at the middle it just rebooted and did the same thing I went back into TWRP restored the AOSP ROM and it did the same thing. I then went into advanced wipe I wiped Dalvik/Art Cache, system, and cache successfully I then tried to wipe the data but that's when I phone just vibrated for a few seconds and it rebooted. I then repaired Dalvik/Art Cache, system, and cache and Mirco SDCard that didn't work as I went into my backups to restore and at the middle it just rebooted and it went to the Motorola logo screen it vibrated the screen went black and I went back into TWRP again. I then flashed a clean AICP ROM from the install section it flashed successfully I ended up rebooting thinking that it finally worked but I just ended up in the moto logo screen again. So I went into the install section flashed the clean version of the AOSP Extended ROM it was successful I rebooted and it worked. But know I went to the Wipe Section Swipe to factory reset and it just vibrates for a few seconds as it did before what should I do?
I have TWRP Version 3.1.1-0
Which firmware/modem are you on?
It sounds like you're on the N firmware/modem. There is a different version of TWRP for this setup.
It also seems like you tried to flash a kernel that is not for that firmware/modem combo (as far as I know Simple hasn't been updated to work with the newer N firmware/modem), which is why it didn't boot.

What android version was before custom?
Before I flashed a custom ROM I had Marshmallow 6.0.1 pure stock when it came in the box.
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
Last version of Motorola Original Android on MXS/P.
I'm not asking about custom roms.
I think it can be Lolipop or Marschmallow. So you have LL or MM baseband.
AICP works on ≤MM baseband, AOSP - two versions - ≤MM & =N, clark simple kernel is only for MM.
Problems with twrp - try this solution:

N - Nougat, you haven't N baseband - u can't flash it.
So I clicked on the link and it took me to the TWRP downloads which version of it should I flash?

It works I flashed the recovery.img on TWRP and was able to swipe to factory reset without any problems but when I went into my old backups like AICP it restored normally I rebooted my phone at the Moto Logo screen, it vibrated and turned off and did the same thing again. So I wiped and flashed a clean version of AICP it flashed successfully rebooted without any problems installed my apps realized it wasn't rooted so I went into recovery flashed Magisk-v14.0.zip and simple kernel again rebooted but it wouldn't go the Moto logo it just rebooted again. I ended up doing a factory reset and flashed AICP by itself had no problems then decided to flash Magisk-v14.0.zip that I had saved but booted fine but at the AICP logo it froze and went to back to the Moto logo screen. So I decided to download a clean version of Magisk-v14.0.zip but that didnt work so I then flashed AICP by itself and no problems. What should I do?
Aicp hasn't magisk inbuilt? 14.5? @R77
I should flash Magisk v14.5 beta instead?
Edit: I ended up flashing the beta version it flashed successfully booted up and at the lockscreen it just rebooted by itself back to the lockscreen again it was unresponsive, and no magisk is not build in the ROM. Going back to another AICP backup so what happens.
Edit again: Well my backups don't work it restores successfully but it goes in a bootloop it goes to the Moto logo boots up again. It only boots successfully when I flash clean version of AICP ROM and has no problems. What should I do?

So I ended up flashing the unofficial Resurrection Remix flashed successful but got stuck at the moto logo, did a clean wipe and flashed the official nougat Resurrection Remix and it worked. I then decided to flash the simple kernel but got stuck at bootloop did a clean wipe restored my backup of Remix ended up flashing handbag kernel and booted up with no problems. What should I do for that?
What can't you understand?
You had stock Nougat - you have Nougat modem/baseband.
The same for stock MM.
RR 4 XII works only with N modem.
Simple kernel works only with MM modem.
@R77
i went through something like this recently, and my story is posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74779723&postcount=417 . I couldn't get anywhere in Recovery, including dirty flashing another rom, because the process wouldn't complete. I ended up running the nougat firmware update "Moto X Pure Factory Firmware Nougat NPH25.200-22" via bootloader. Then unlocked, flashed TWRP, then put RR 12/4 rom on, but im still dealing with glitches (gps lock is horrible/lte signal is worse) (unsure if rom based or firmware from nougat). hope this info helps

I'm wondering will going back to Marshmallow fix my problem?
I have RR N final and have no problems but flashing AICP ROM with magisk and it won't boot, it will only boot with just the ROM alone?

EDIT: the problem is solved, see my last post
Hey guys,
I'm not new to installing roms, as I did with my SGS 2 before. But I haven't done it for a long time and it's the first time I do it on my SGS 5... with no success at all.
The problem is that, out of all the roms I've tried, none of them boot up entirely without crashes. I've followed the instructions to the letter and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Here's what I had before starting to fiddle:
SGS 5 G900F, no specific carrier, bought in Europe
stock android/touchwiz 5.0, never rooted or anything
Here are the roms I have tried:
cynaogen 5.1.1 12.1 20150508 for klte + these gapps http://teambliss.x10host.com/BlissStalk/Gapps/ --> stays blocked on the samsung logo forever
BlissPop 5.1.1 v3.3 20150515 for klte + pa_gapps-stock-5.1-20150418-signed or pa_gapps-modular-full-5.1-20150418-signed --> google newstand and another google app are crashing in a loop during the setup, I can't tap any button
PAC 5.1.1 20150503 for klte + pa_gapps-stock-5.1-20150418-signed or pa_gapps-modular-full-5.1-20150418-signed --> the install wizard application itself is crashing in a loop
THe kernels I've tried:
KT-SGS5-LP5.1-AOSP-G900-05.02.2015
boeffla-kernel-2.0-beta8-CM12.1-g900f.recovery
My recovery:
twrp-2.8.6.0-klte (flashed with Odin, it works fine, and I could boot the stock rom without problems with it)
Any idea about the cause of the problem?
Thanks
I guess if you are not new to stuff like this, you have 100% wiped everything before flashing in TWRP recovery, and factory reset / wiped caches after flashing the ROM and Gapps?

Yes, before and between installing different roms, I wiped everything: system, cache, dalvik, internal storage
I've also flashed twrp previous version 2.8.5.0, and philz touch recovery. They all work fine, but still can't boot any rom
Strangely, I now works using this version of CM 12.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ent/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-android-5-1-t3066252
I have no idea why I had all these crashes and boot problems with the other 3 roms.
Cheers
Odd.
I recntly bought 16GB UK version that came with 5.1 and OTA updated it to the most recent MM (sorry didin't note its exact number). I then succesfully flashed TWRP 3.0.2-r1 and tried to factory reset it but it gave me a lot of errors, so I restarted TWRP and tried again - successfuly. I then tried to flash GtrCrafts ROM (here) and it flashed succesfuly but stuck on boot animation for nearly half an hour so I rebooted back to TWRP and tried again - with the same effect. I then tried Marshmallux - and exactly the same problem happened. Today I flashed Resurrection Remix and everything was perfectly fine - happy that my phone "resurrected" I tried flashing stock based ROMs (same as before) and they kept stucking on boot animation again. After all I downloaded stock firmware (XT1562_LUX_RETEU_6.0_MPD24.65-18.1_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml) and flashed it with fastboot - the only problem was I couldn't flash bootloader.img, but just skipped that and flashed the rest - after the long few minutes my phone booted into system, so I thought it's finally OK, but no - I first checked if TWRP is still there but rebooting into recovery just left me with black screen so I flashed TWRP again (same version) and after this... I couldn't reboot into system (from TWRP menu) - it just kept rebooting TWRP on and on, so I turned my phone off, booted into bootloader and from bootloader - into system, with success. Trying to flash stock-based ROMs brought all the same problems back so I just gave up for now and wondering what could be wrong and is it fixable. Why would CM based RR flash and boot fine but not Marshmallux and GtfCraft's one? Anyone had the same issues or knows what's wrong? Could it be TWRP problem, phones problem, or a jinx?
Thanks.

I am having EXACTLY the same problem here!!! It happened after I flashed stock BTU (UK unbranded) and then trying to revert back to BlissPop/CM13. Maybe the new stock boot/modem is not supported by custom ROM makers yet?
Could anyone confirm/solve this? Thanks a lot!

Just verifing. When flashing a new rom, you are clearing the old one out first, right?
Like wiping the cache, system, boot, ect.

Sorry its taken me so long to reply back, had stuff going on. Anyways, after doing some studying and playing with my sisters G5. They seem to be very finicky with modifications, even after root and a custom recovery installed. One thing to try (because it happened on my skyrocket), is to reinstall your recoveries and do it with a computer, that how to get a stable install, if your already using a computer, then it sounds like a something from the old firmware may still be their. You may need to install the earliest stock firmware for your G5 out of the box, and root it from their, you may even need a complete stock restore then re-root and install your custom recovery. Also. I have had some roms take 20 minutes to boot, but thats the rom stabilising.

Go back into TWRP, wipe, by swiping should be all that you need to do. Afterwards reinstall your custom ROM and Gaps nano. Shut off phone, and then start. Sometimes it can take a few minutes to load after the initial install. BTW, I use Paranoid 7.3.1, it works great!

Thank you for you replies. Now my phone works as supposed. I successfully flashed Paranoid Android ROM.
Hello everyone, I'm trying to flash Havoc os 3.0 alongside with BitGaps, but it always ends up in a bootloop (I always wait one hour in the "android" boot screen). My device is the A205G with Android 10. I successfully flashed TWRP using the guide posted here in xda (also flashed magisk), then I flashed Havoc and BitGaps (wiping dalvik, cache, data and system first and then doing a factory reset), but ended up in a bootloop after rebooting to system. In a second try after reinstalling Android 10 stock rom I followed the steps shown in a youtube video (can't post link since I'm a new user) with no luck (still getting a bootloop). In a third try I just flashed the stock rom, then flashed twrp with odin and tried to flash Havoc without flashing Magisk at any moment, still bootloop. Any ideas or suggestions on what could be wrong? I've only flashed one device before with a custom rom so I'm not an expert in this area, any help will be appreciated.
