Warning - the AR Stickers app is an absolute battery hog, or at least appears to be. According to the battery section of settings, I have used AR Stickers for 3 minutes, resulting in a 3% battery drain (71mAh.) Not even Snapchat is that heavy. I guess that's what I get for having a BB-8 & R2D2 party in my office.

I've finally gave up my hopes on iPhone. I've tried jailbreak and beta ios 7. But I've never gotten any satisfaction like android would.
This sony is amazing btw! Coming from Samsung galaxy s3 to note 2 to iPhone 5. Yeah I know...
Anyways, it's been less than 24 hours with this phone. I do miss unlocked bootloader and being able to safely root the phone. Anyways I'll get my modding started once I've rooted my phone!
Any suggestion on accessories and Roms to try?
Sent from my C6606 using xda app-developers app
My wife has got the iPhone 5 and when she asks me to do something on it i have learned my lesson and just say no strait away now I can't stand them (I racist with the iphones), I tell you what let's design a phone which you can only turn on/off/make phone calls and download some pointless game, then stick a apple on the back and call it the world's best phone.
We all pay a lot off money to BUY the up to date phones and see what they can do unlocking bl rooting ect. (if they break it they might buy another one)
Any way sorry for going off on one about iPhone at least this is the general section
Roms wise there has just been a Sony update rolling out so with take a little while for cookers to cook them up, the rom I use is a good one but has it own little bugs in it. Just test and see what you like

I just realized our phone comes with screen protector already installed!
One less thing to worry and spend money on!
I'm still debating if I should root the phone or not. It seems like very risky or prone to bricking the device.
Anyhow, is the battery quickly draining normal?
Seems like the battery isn't optimized.
(charged it to full last night) and within minutes, like 5% were gone!
Also I see that the media server is really talk g up the cpu. Can't seem to disable it. Any suggestions?

You probably mean the Anti-Shatter Film (ASF), which is pre-installed on your phone, contains the Sony logo, cannot be removed easily (removing it voids your warranty!) and is not very scratch-resistant unfortunately.
It's highly recommended to apply a screen protector on top of it, as soon as possible, before it's scratched! In some territories (e.g. Germany), Sony even includes a screen protector in the box.
U need to be rooted to freeze certain apps and i always have great battery life. But make sure ur GPS is off that ur emails account don't sinc like crazy also I have basically every sony app either uninstalled or frozen. I am on 13 and a half hours. With 5 and half hours screen on time and still have 29% battery left. And mediaserver is an android related issue. As soon u listen to any type of music it will come on and never quit running afterwards. No matter if music player or so one of the biggest one is probably Spotify really battery drainer. But u can improve ur battery if u use stamina mode on the xperia z.

Rooted and flashing is actually fairly easy on this phone. U need a ftf, flashtool, dual recovery, doomlord easy root. That's it

Thanks for the tip!
I have an insurance although they are over priced (t-mobile $10 a month)
So I will be rooting the phone tonight and read various steps and tutorials on how to. Fairly simple enough.
Now about the media server issues. Does having widget (video/music) will kill the battery? I don't really listen to music on my phone. But I'm not sure where the media server is turning on in the background (I've killed all the task as well)

Honestly tho, the beta ios 7 isn't as smooth as you might think. It feels like stuck butter at time to time and some of the animations are just too slow. Where as in android, we can control that. Personally, I like customization over the simple and cartoon like interface.
Now that being said, I'm not saying ios isn't any competition. It is and it always will be. Therefore, we'll see improvements being made for either platforms.
I don't really miss much about ios. After all, I felt like I hit the limit on how much I can do and utilize in a smartphone.
I do like the new interface and whatnot. But it stops there. This is the reason why I really missed my android.
I never thought that jailbreak would give me powerful tools to play with. But it was way too buggy and I've had to restart my phone like every hour. More like 'jail lock'
Now back to xperia z. I've noticed today that the battery has been terrible. (little over 24 hours)
Here is my battery life picture. (also stamina is enabled along with various other features to save juice )

Youve got pretty bad battery life.if its a new xz or if u ve flashed a new firmware, wait for a week till the battery adjusts to the hardware.
If its a old xz and u have significant batt loss ,then what I would do is reset using pc suite or root my device.
There's a new firm rollin out, so update to it and check ur batt usage

greenify!
hey.
it's not instagram for me, but I think it's snapchat / camera (or camera permission in general)
When I look at App Ops X (an app for controlling permissions), I see that the camera app/snapchat app are running the camera always. In this app, it'll usually give a time at which a permission was accessed (e.g. 50 minutes ago) or it'll say "Running" to indicate it's using it currently.
For me, it's always been at "Running" status (the camera permission for snapchat/camera) even though I greenified snapchat.
I hope that this issue is related to the issue nexus 5 users are experiencing and that the 4.4.3 fix will apply to this as well..
Well judging by the article its the same issue. I don't use snap chat so I wouldnt know. But yeah definitely a pain.

Ever since around January, I had a battery issue where the battery capacity of my nexus 4 just dropped. I hope that this camera issue was the cause of that.
However, 4.4.2 was released on Dec 9 and I must have updated around then as well.. So there is an unexplained period gap from Dec 10 - Jan 2 of why my battery was functioning normally then..

You should try SD Maid app from Play Store and freeze Instagram unless you use it, and don't have to uninstall it. Or just simply kill the process from SD Maid.
Hi guys
I did a clean installation of C00B220 ROM on my PLK-AL10 (reverted from B395, formatted the phone) and put Google play store back from backup, using Hisuite.
However I noticed that programs relaying on Google Play services won't sync on mobile network when the screen was off. When I woke up the phone they SOMETIMES synced but mostly not.
I think the problem is based on "Google Play Serivces" is not properly installed.
I removed it and all google apps and wanted to install play services from apkmirror. I tried both 270 and 280 variants, and after installation, when I want to sign in, they say "Wi-fi or mobile data aren't available" (of course I have connection). When I start e.g. Gmail, it says Gmail relays on Google Play Services which is not supported by your device.
The phone is not rooted but I can root it if needed.
Pls help.

1) Ok.
2) I could install Play Services, first I tried with the wrong version. 248 is the correct one. Sync is still a problem. Right after the installation I received emails (gmail) immediately, but after a while I got them just when I woke up the screen.

Yes but as I said I had many apps running in the background even when the screen is off (they're protected). Screen is far not the biggest consumer. Currently the top consumers are: Android OS - 21%, Android System - 20%, Google Play Services - 17%)
Bluetooth, Mobile network / Wifi are always on.
I did not see a big difference between "Smart" and "Performance", maybe 10-15% battery drain by the end of the day. This is fine for me. And I have Lollipop, it may consume more than Marshmallow.

I literally did NONE of that with my x727 and I got 164,000 and some change on my benchmark. I literally turned the phone off for about 5 minutes, turned it back on for about 10 minutes and let it sit there for 10 minutes, then ran the bench and got 164,000 and some change. No need to try to artifically inflate it by disabling anything. The hardware on this phone is amazing. It should easily be scoring low 160's with no hiccup whatsoever, if you're in the 150's and the phone is not hot or throttling something is wrong with your hardware.

Not yet, I'll do it tomorrow after getting more feedback
I noticed this with Google app beta 7.4 and was hoping that it was just a bug but the final version has this issue too So I guess Google intentionally removed this feature for third party devices. Maybe the want it to be exclusive to Pixel or Nexus devices from now on ! I have a oneplus 3T by the way so I don't think it has anything to do with Samsung updates
